    My step Mother is a pro at getting free stuff from surveys and contests! You should totally interview her. She's in her 60s now and retired. Has made a hobby out of it. She can tell if its a scam or not almost instantly. I tried to do it and I don't have the patience hahaha. She has won so many weird things and items. Folding benches, tool sets, shirts, shoes, a trip to the Rose Bowl! So much stuff. It's so entertaining to watch her go.

    I think one possible reason for why the fridge video performed better than the taking down a scam center video is because everyone can relate to the fridge thing on a personal level. That gives the content universal appeal. In contrast, there are very few people who can relate with the experience of taking down a scammer call center. This narrows the video appeal to the smaller niche of folks who are interested in scam baiting and scammer hacking.

    • @adamgreen5680
      @adamgreen5680 Год назад +5

      Also, stuff with the RUclips algorithm. As long as a popular video pulls people into a good channel, there's a high likelihood that viewers will check-out other videos or become a subscriber. Trying to understand the nonsense RUclips thinks is relevant is like trying to understand the ramblings of a mental patient. Just smile, nod, and take what you can from the experience.

    In the mid 2000s, my Dad responded to an ad to get free golf clubs if he tested them. He signed up for the ad. The company was wanting delivery fees and delayed sending the golf clubs. A family friend said this looked like a scam. My Dad was out some money, not a lot, and never got his clubs. His correspondence and waiting took about a year. My parents were also victims of the computer error scam where the scammer tries to hold their computer performance hostage until they paid a large sum. The sum was about 3x the purchase price of the computer. My parents refused to pay. The scammer got mad and gave up. My parents were confused and shocked. I was mad that this had happened. I kept the computer in good working order and was outraged that this had happened. Their computer was not corrupted or anything.

    Thank you for exposing these scammers. I am almost got caught up in a scam a couple of months ago. And when they wanted me to take out a loan to receive price money. I finally came to my senses and called my sister. Who told me to go back into messenger and to block the two accounts. (I realized later that I should have first reported the two accounts to META Facebook to have them taken down.) But I hope that by watching your videos, that I will become more hyper vigilant against the scammers.

    So you said they claimed they could provide you a prize equal to or greater than the promotional product.. yet they sent you a 25$ gift card for something you could only find online for $90+? You should ask them where they can find the Dr pepper fridge for 25$ and if they can't provide it ask for the 99$ or proof they found one cheaper

    I did one of these style rewards years ago(back in the pop up era) and I did indeed get the item, a 100 something dollar printer. I don't know how many rewards I signed up for, back at the time their were far fewer subscription services save for news papers and magazines. Honestly these programs do make sense if the companies aren't scamming, it's the same premise as using Facebook, who sales your data and in exchange offers you the platform free of charge, you're generating leads and adrevenue. Then there is commissions these companies are making, so there is room for them to complete the reward without losing any money in the process especially since many of the participants aren't going to complete the process, following the 80/20 rule, probably about 20% of those who go through the program grt to the point where they can claim their reward, but they're made money regardless if you complete it or not. Back before Amazon shut it down, companies would advertise on fb to review their product for free and they were completely legitimate, in terms of Amazon fulfilling the order, you reviewing it and then your money being sent back to you.

    I once seen an advertisement for an electric lighter for dirt cheap, just a dollar with free shipping. And this was the time when they were just coming out, ads everywhere were selling them for 15-20+ dollars. So I figured "Hey? What's the worse thing that could happen?" I ended up using what was left on an old visa prepaid card and strangely enough they wanted photo copy proof of my address, which I thought was a little weird but whatever.
    Fuckin thing came in 2-3 months later. I was shook to my core. My friends were jealous and gathering around to check it out, I automatically became the cool kid for a whole 13.2 seconds, and that memory is burned in my mind acting like a tiny nugget of dopamine I've hidden away in case of emergencies.

    I’m truly shocked you were able to even get $25. I wonder what their “reward partners” think of this? They’re scamming their potential customers and that is just going to make them angry at their service because they were tricked into it. I’d think they’d be delivering low quality leads. Perhaps reach out to each “partner” and ask why they allow this.

    • @LuaTech

      It's not really a partner anways. The gift card provider is simply a company which provides gift cards automatically.

      @@LuaTech I meant the subscriptions and services he had to sign up for to get the gift card. Those companies pay this company a referral fee. Maybe if they knew how this company was baiting and switching and lying they’d discontinue their referral code so the incentive to lie would be gone.

    I got sucked into an ad on free candles, and I figured out after 10 clicks of questions that this was probably a scam and quit answering their questions. But since they had my email address I got tons of emails for quite a long time unsubscribe to most but more just popped in. It took a good year to get rid of all those emails. I now avoid any ad that I see offering free stuff. Hope this video and comment keeps other people going down this rabbit hole.
