“Over There” was written in response to the newspaper headline about the United States' declaration of war on Germany in 1917

Mexico had German embassy there meaning they send a secret code to let Mexico enter war and attack the United States but this backfired as British Code Breaker intercepted the signal and told the Americans about the impending attack that made Germany Mexico entered the war as Allied to the Central Powers

And it was used again in WWII along with other songs of the 40s era

But Pancho Villa and one of the renegade revolutionary parties of the Mexican civil war actually invaded and attacked a bunch of American towns. There was no declaration of war because we did not recognize Pancho Villa as the leader of Mexico because he wasn't anything more than a regional warlord at this point. The Americans under Pershing went in purely on a mission to arrest or kill him not conquer mexico.

Even as of 2023, BF1 still holds on to be an active and legendary game. I am kinda sad that the US is one of the least represented factions in the game since they are only present in Ballroom Blitz and Argonne Forest.

This song fills me with pride and sadness, I used to believe it was my purpose to go and fight for my country, I hadn’t planned on coming back

The last line of the song haunts me thinking how we left that mess in Afghanistan
There was a few mistakes but overall we left with most of our stuff.
As much as I love BF1 it’s criminal they didn’t make a Belleau Wood map for Apocalypse.

Battlefield is on life support, 2042 is ultra woke. If they don’t reboot BF with a BF3 or 4-inspired modern shooter, then the franchise will be shelved indefinitely. Q4 of 2021 was like the 9/11 of FPS gaming (Vanguard, 2042, & Halo Infinite).

But America will be the very same entity.
America would never became the absolute superpower they're today.
They would still be Britain's shadow.
The Great War benefits America greatly in terms of global politics as it's force America to come out of their shell in North America and join the world affairs against the European powers at the time.
Extending their influence to Europe and then surpassing them in the years to come. The war economy of both World Wars also greatly contribute to their gigantic economic growth, especially after they themselves join the war. Their military got expanded significantly, new military facility like factory and harbour being built and an experience gain regarding modern warfare from WW1 allowing America to improve their army and become world most power army.

We didn’t do too much but we did fight in a few battles and calmed the French down from mutiny
