I would definitely love to see a video on how you do your camera settings. I typically currently use my iPhone as well as an Insta360 X3. But for this year, I want to upgrade my camera to one that will pair with my motorcycle headset. And my X3 will not do that. I have to either go to the X4 or the camera that you were featuring in this video. I do not have any videography background. I’m just a motorcycle technician and an avid rider that decided to start recording my life working all the motorcycle rallies across the country. I think I’ve done well so far, but I would definitely like to take it to another level
You nailed it! Bad audio has sent me down the rabbit hole of microphones and adapters. 24 fps, ND filters are amazing! I do like stabilization. When the horizon stays level and the bike can be seen moving around I really get the feeling I’m riding. My brain levels the horizon but not when it’s presented on a screen. I have a bunch of cameras already but this is the first one that has tempted me in a long time.
One thing I just love about videography is that artistic preference is a big part of it. One creator may like saturated colors and high contrast, while another may not. I go back and forth on the level horizon thing. I'm not sure how I feel about that. But in any case, its so fun that its so completely open to interpretation. Except maybe audio. Always have good audio.

I’ve had a GoPro hero 7 silver audio was not great not horrible either but my GoPro max has great audio with its on board filters. As a musician whenever recording on something with a condenser mic it was necessary to put a piece of tape or a pillow yea a pillow over the mic. The 40db of sound pressure would overwhelm the mics distorting the sound horribly. All that said my main riding buddy just bought one of these and the sound quality is exceptional.
I think I got more out if this video about videos than I have from your mc videos. It makes me want to get this camera and get to it and I never wanted to vlog before. It feels like video instructing may be your true calling.

My GoPro shoots a 177 degree field of view,if you want the widest view possible,shoot and upload in 4k to get the vp9 codec that big channels automatically get,no matter the camera it will look good
I quite like Insta360. I've been using 2 Insta360 One R cameras for helmet cam and headcam(install footage), for years. I quite like them and havent found much of a reason to replace them yet. Though that wind noise thing is kinda huge. That said I disagree with recording at 24 and 30. I always record at 60, and would record at higher FPS if the camera would let me. I record at 2.7K because I dont need 4K files. But what I do need is to be able to capture license plates and other recognizable details, human identifiable details. And the more frames you have the more likely you will get a still that can let you read and see that stuff. I can always turn the frame rate down to 30 in the video editor. I value being able to cap details, just for the sake of insurance. That's why I run a camera in the first place. If someone hits me I want the footage. Providing riding footage is it's 2ndary task.
2:40 facts facts facts!!! ALOT of people don't know that. We can struggle through a video that was taken by a potato, but if the audio is screeching and terrible, we'll turn it off.

I have no desire to be a moto vloger, but I do upload videos to YT for family and friends to watch so they can see the beautiful scenery here in Japan. Mostly, I record video to use as an after action report so I can see what I did well and where I can improve. The better the video, the better the AAR.
9:35 actually wider aperture gives you worst depth of field (dof is the portion of the frame which is in focus, the wider the aperture the shallower the focus plane). Otherwise great video! I love seeing the Multistrada v4 Pikes Peak on video since mine is in the garage at least until march 😢 P.s. do share your video settings please! Looking forward to compare them
Youre absolutely correct. I was trying to say the motion blur on the edges helps create depth. But I could have phrased that better! One thing I really enjoy about video is that so much of it comes down to taste, right. One may prefer saturated colors and high contrast while someone else prefers just the opposite and both are completely correct. I love it!
@ I was much in photography, video is still kinda new to me (especially the editing portion) so there’s the basic notions that you can carry over (aperture, shutter speed, iso, framing, etc.) but otherwise is a whole new world to learn. I recently bought a dji Mavic 3 pro and that has been a lot of fun, it spur my interest in getting the old GoPro hero 10 out of the dust it collected in the last few years to combine takes from the drone with something filmed on the ground. But this Insta360 is miles ahead, especially in dark environments and very contrasted ones (i.e. under the trees in a very sunny day). Does it have the possibility to shot d-log? That has been a game changer in the dji, being able to work with luts to really control the colors (mood) in post production

Thanks a lot for that video. …. ehhmmmm, you won‘t believe it, our national Swiss TV News channel uses cheap mics and put those to the worst places at speakers dresses. What a mess, selling news in bad audio quality.
Is the media port waterproof. I.e. can i use it in the rain. I'm missin the water proof way of connecting USBC.some cameras had usbc cable witha special rubber square that was pushed to the camera body with the protective frame. I use it not to change the battery several times a day which makes it less hustle for me than cuttibg what i want from all day recording

It answers many questions my friends throw at me, asking me why I am going too fast (and to be safe), and all I could do was to tell them it was probably the camera, not me! Now I know the answer - I can use a narrower field of view, to show friends that I not going faster than I actually am! Thank you!
Low light capability is the only thing where the ace 2 excels over any other action camera. Not a biggy for me as I only do motorcycle related content and don't record at night. As a long time gopro user, I'm not a big fan of the media mod as a sound recording interface or even the mic adapter. The only upside of either is that I can plug in an exrernal mic and power the camera at the same time. Throw in the remote controler and I have a great combo. Have to say, if you're going to faff around with ND filters, it's not the extra 20 or 30 seconds raplacing them with the lens cover on the gopro that's going to ruin your day. Not to mention that it's proper locked in place too. Great footage and very useful "universal" tips. Cheers
Sharing your journey is such a great way to build community. In most things, the more folks doing a thing, the worse it gets. Motorcycling seems to be opposite. The more of us riding, the more cars learn to pay attention to us, etc.

😂Well shit I just registered my my dji 5 and no this…. I’m sure it’s just as good. My main use is to cover me in an accident, dash cam use. I picked it up based on a lot of the other content, creator reviews, strictly motorcycle people.
I’m the exact opposite. I want a camera more to record what idiots do to me. For my legal protection. No more “He said- She said” or it’s his fault etc etc. I feel naked if if I drive or ride without one.

Fascinating stuff. What is shutter speed on an action camera?
I typically leave that in auto. Whenever I've tried to force the shutter speed I'll end up with too dark or too bright footage.

Never had any problem whatsoever with any type of camera on my bike. The trick is not to have one, so you don't criminate yourself. :)
