This video is exactly what I needed, just getting into shooting in log and definitely had some questions that you covered in this vid. So Thanks for your help :D
Hey! Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching! :)
A classic by Andrei. Great tips! Footage looked Magical ;)
Hahah thanks! Appreciate ya 🤙🏼
Excellent video! You make it simple to follow… thank you!
Hey Nick! Appreciate it! Thanks so much for the feedback, thanks for watching!
Very solid work
Thanks so much! Appreciate it 🤙🏻
Great video, as always! SO much easier in Davinci.
Thanks so much! I have Davinci and tried it out a few times but the hardest thing is all he plugins, shortcuts, and methods that I'm used to doing in premiere. Thanks for watching!
yeah so much fast too
Super helpful!! I always struggle with correcting my white balance in post with those yellow hues.
Glad it was helpful! Yup, I honestly spend a little extra time before hitting record to get WB the best I can. Luckily working with 10 bit color helps a lot to correct in post. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video
Thanks so much, appreciate it!
Such an informative video! I’ve been trying to improve my log shooting/editing and there’s just not a good tutorial for real estate - so thank you for this!!
I would love to see you do a video like this on a more challenging home like a log cabin! So much orange😂
Thanks so much! Haha yeah, while I haven't shot a log cabin, sometimes I'll shoot a home that has fully painted orange walls or small bedrooms that are pink, blue, etc. and getting WB and colors dialed in for those are tough! Thanks for watching!
The video is awesome and very informative! Only the chapters are for a wrong video😂 Love your videos, please don't stop doing them!
Omg thanks for letting me know !! Thanks lol
Good video. The biggest thing I wish someone told me when starting to video edit in log is to not get fixated on making it perfect. There is much more flexibility in editing photos over video. Could spend hours on a video trying to make it look perfect.
True! That definitely wasn’t me in the beginning since I had no idea what I was doing haha glad I’ve got it down to a simple workflow. Thanks for watching!
This was super helpful thanks man! Do you shoot in log in darker rooms with less natural light as well? I always have trouble trying to expose it properly in darker rooms, end up with a lot of noise.
Yep, I still do! Sometimes I'll switch to 24fps to bring my shutter down to 1/50, take off my polarizer, and just bump up the iso to 12,800 or whatever I need. Still overexpose to bring down the noise from high iso and usually turns out fine. Thanks for watching!
@@AndreiRestrepo thanks I will try that!
Hi Andrei! I really enjoyed the video, this will work with my iPhone 14 Pro native camera? Or do I need to use an external app like FilmicPro in order to film in Log and then color grade?
Thanks so much! I would first try just using the image out of the native camera. Even though it’s already colored, a lot of the correcting tips can still apply to it!
Great video! Question, I'm starting out and I'm currently practicing on my iPhone so, what do you recommend when editing colors with an iPhone since in every room colors changes and it's hard to match colors between shots? I mean, like try to match colors for each clip to be as similar as possible and avoid rough color changes in your final edit? Thanks!
Thanks! Which iPhone? I'd say just using the native camera app, set up your shot before you film it. Manually expose and lock it, try to get the iPhone to get the best WB before shooting. Also check out the Black Magic Camera app too! Full controls for your iPhone and the image looks even better somehow too depending on the codec. Thanks for watching!
@@AndreiRestrepo Hi Andrei, thanks for replying so fast! I'm using an iPhone 13 mini. I just "edited" a video I made but because of the light, it shifts very much from shot to shot, I mean, I don't seem to them to be as similar as possible 😓
Yeah, you can press and hold to lock your exposure before taking the shot so it shouldn't change settings while taking the clip. In your settings too, you can toggle "lock white balance" so once you start taking the clip, it will keep your WB locked and not change too.
@@AndreiRestrepo Thank you Andrei!
do you add that phantom lut to all your real estate videos?
I’ve been trying that out, and they work great! It’s a bit better than the canon conversion LUT in my opinion, better colors!
Any tips for those of us still shooting with 8 bit 1080p? My current process is to correct white balance, then adjust exposure and hue vs sat. Is there anything extra to add in?
I'd say just nail in camera the best you can! When I was filming with 8 bit footage in my 5D mark iv, I'd do everything I can to make sure the image was the best it could while shooting. I would still try all the color correcting stuff I showed, it just may not be as flexible if you push it too far. Thanks for watching!
How is that monitor for color accuracy? Can you give a model number?
I think it's great! Not a computer expert but it is an IPS monitor so I've never seen any issue with color accuracy. Pretty sure it's this LG model! amzn.to/49XH4KG
hi what does neutral color mean ? when you try to auto white balance
Whites & greys. So I take the eye dropper tool for the white balance in Lumetri color, target a white or grey spot on the video to select, to get an accurate WB. Like a white light switch or outlet, for example. Thanks for watching!
@@AndreiRestrepo can it be any type of white or grey? as there are so many different scales of whtie ect
Yep! Just seeing what gives you a natural, balanced looking image afterwards!
Tho I don’t use Premier, this was very informative…
Glad to hear it! At first I read your comment as “this wasn’t very informative” because you don’t use premiere and I was like aww man! Haha glad it was! What program do you edit in? Thanks for watching!
@@AndreiRestrepo I started a while back with an iPad & LumaFusion…since then I’ve gotten a M1 Mac…have used LF on it, as well as CapCut…I use LR/PS for stills, but not Premier…I might investigate DaVinci, but still plenty to learn/relearn in Luma & CapCut
