I have no problem calling them out. The agency sounds like John Casablancas. I went to the same "school" in Charlotte and had to pay thousands of dollars to attend. Total scam. I can tell by the red room and mirrors. Also the runway casting call where everybody that was "scouted" had to get up there say something then walk down the runway and do a pose. They claimed that the Flo girl from the Progressive Insurance commercials was one of their clients. We had "acting" and "modeling" classes where they "taught" us about the industry, and we had makeup classes where we had to learn and apply our own makeup.

Some "talent agent" approached my mom and I in the mall as well when I was like 13 and she wanted to get me into modeling and I am so glad I didn't do it because I'm almost positive it was a scam. Beware of swindling business people everyone!
I'm from NC and half of the teens here have done something with Barbizon or John Casablancas, so I'm guessing he's referring to one of those two 😂😂😂 a woman from Barbizon once came to my old high school to talk in a career class and basically just tried to convince people to audition

I feel you Alex, I was scammed by Barbizon when I was in high school. I paid for about 5-7 months for "classes" and never got anything. I wish I knew and didn't get involved with their scams 😑
The agency that tried to scam me never gave me my headshot picture back, they're probably using it in their hallways too 😭😭😂😂

So about 6 years ago I heard an ad on the radio for a modeling/acting/singing/dancing agency. i decided to try it out because there were auditions near me. So I went, I auditioned, and got a call back. They had us go in to the building, which was over an hour travel time for me, to set up our account with them. When I got there they had classes going on and all that stuff. Long story short, my parents paid 1800 for me to go take 3 classes for 8 weeks. I am still apart of this agency but we don't pay them $$. I can just go audition for things and not take classes. Buutttt it still couod have been a scam
10 years old. At Costco and a lady stops me and tell me I have a prime Disney channel starring face, ask me to attend an audition at a Double Tree Hotel Banquet room 10 minutes away next to the mall. Me thinking it was my big break we went and there was a bunch of other kids in line (that I kinda psyched out because I didn't want competition) so anyway we had to do a commercial monologue for Peanut M&M's. They told me I was "amazing, and a star" so I thought I was set. Then they said I would have to pay to be apart of this agency, thank god at 10 I somehow knew the rule you're never supposed to pay for an agent they make money when you work.

I got a book from a Scholastic book fair in grade school that would tell me places I could send a letter to receive items that were $1 or less, oftentimes free. One of the places listed in the book was Barbizon, and instead of just sending me the free items, they set up an appointment for my mom and me to go speak to one of the recruiters at their headquarters. I got to see two of the classes taking place and there were quite a few girls there. It sounded legit, and my mom was seriously considering signing me up because she said it wasn't for modeling or acting but was more along the lines of a charm school. I was such a tomboy, I wasn't interested in taking part in it, I just wanted my free stuff. Now I'm so glad she didn't waste the money on it!

Yo! Something like that happened to one of my friend's. She called me and told me that she was at the trolley station one day and this "model scout" came up to her and told her how beautiful she was and that she would make a great model and he gave her his card. A few days later she told me that she called the guy and he sounded very weird on the phone and he was slightly confused when she talked about the modeling thing. His scam ass remembered real fast tho. Plus, she said she heard little kids running around and screaming in the background so she hung up.

Tbh that just sounds like a creepy guy wanting to talk to and compliment a going girl, and lying in order to get a young girls number ... Then was at home with the wife and kids when she DID call.. alot of creepy men pose as photographers, or model scouts in order to take pics of girls, bikini pics of provocative pics etc all while promising them they will get jobs and become a famous model etc.. meanwhile.its just so creeps can take pics of young girls and gain their trust
i ended up in one of these one time. took tons of classes, spent thousands of dollars. was always told my monologue didn’t need further conditioning and still never got signed after 2 auditions. was a total scam.

Im gunna take a wild, but VERY confident 100% sure guess (considering the distance he said he had to drive, bc it is in Charlotte NC) and say the agency was John Robert Powers. I mean, their were people that got jobs from this agency ( by jobs it was only hair shows or commericals and they claimed to be affiliated with Disney) but it was a rip off. My family had to pay alot of money to take " modeling and acting classes" and for headshots. They claimed to represent so many "famous" people, and had ads on the radio, which is how i heard of them and got signed.

That sounds like Barbizon! Honey I remember going to a similar audition with my monologue prepared and walking down the runways. BAYBAY I was nervous af! Looking back at my poor 15 y/o self, I could've slapped myself and dragged myself home. They told me the price was "1995" and I thought it was $19.95, but it was $1,995.00." I signed up and everything, signed paperwork and contracts and everything. When my parents read and truly saw what I had signed up for, they raised so much hell with Barbizon. It was ridiculous. Needless to say, they voided the contract and I never looked back. Lort.

My little brother was called to one of those modeling agencies. He also had to pay money for it. Damn wish I would have known that they were a scam. I remember that some lady at the mall was trying to get my little sister to also get into modeling. And she said no to the lady.

I'm listening to this and realizing that I got scammed too. LIKE LITERALLY EVERYTHING YOU SAID I DID! THE MALL. THE RUNWAY. THE CLASSES. PAYING FOR THE CLASSES!!! And they still call me all the time. I wish I could find out what school you went to, to see if it's the same one. I feel so stupid. I learned a lot and made a ton of friends but I realize now that they used my innocent 15-year-old self who had dreams of being a model/ actor to get money.

I was very young when I went to an acting/modeling agency for an "audition." They had me read a couple of lines for a cereal commercial, and then I left. We got a pamphlet saying that I was very talented, and they wanted me to enroll in their school for acting and modeling. I was so excited, but luckily my mom immediately knew it was a scam and we never went forward with it
