When the reviewer reviewed my manuscript they said to change the first sentence. from " For the last 20 years, there has been great interest in the development of aptamers using SELEX or in vitro selection." to "For the last 20 years, there had been great interest in the development of aptamers using SELEX or in vitro selection." I didn't like this sentence because there is still interest in the development of aptamers so I should use the present perfect not the past perfect.
