This woman is something else. I was listening to this pretty passively, enjoying the music, and then I caught a few lyrics, which caught me off guard, and looked them up for the whole song. And they just blew me away. This woman never fails to blow me away.

Just few minutes ago, I had an urgent and sudden impulse to listen to that song. while listening, it didn’t take too much time to remember how much I was (and still am) into that song. I had mixed feelings of delight and melancholy came over me. I felt like crying on account of this song’s pure beauty. Truly pulling at my heartstrings.

I absolutely love the song but the fact is that my brain is instinctively trying to remember which Kate Bush song this is :D But, seriously, it is far from a copy of Kate - it seems to me that this might rather be a loving reference to the whole "The Kick Inside" album. This song compressed all the love themed parts of that album into one fine diamond. I'm always happy to see such growth and evolution in any art form.

I agree that common or, ugh, ordinary things cannot be in the repertoire of such an obscure and enlightened individual like Jojo Newsom. Only the truly unique and obscure things in life are intellectually stimulating, and deep enough to be understood and appreciated by the artistic people of the world like you and I.
This is a good album, but for me, it doesn't run as deep as Ys. She wrote that when she was with Bill Callahan (he even singes backup on one track). Of course, the album he made during that period is terrible...tradeoffs.
