This track is going after another rapper who told RM and Suga they were betraying hip hop by becoming Idols and acting like girls. Because this other rapper dissed both RM and Suga while on tape J-hope did not have a full verse because he wanted to give the other guys a chance to clap back...and boy did they! Suga's iconic laughter at the end gets me every time! Can't wait for Cypher 3! Make sure you guys do the medley after you finish all of them. They perform all of them together at a concert and it is LIT!

If you react to 'DDaeng' - you need to also watch "Ddaeng explained by a Korean" - the word play is amazing, and unless you are raised in Korea, even with the lyrics to read, you are going to miss a lot of the nuances without the explanation video.
you guys wondered if the cyphers were a diss track, they all are. they're about a rapper called B-Free who, back then, mocked RM and Suga for leaving the hip-hop scene and joining a k-pop group, B-Free said they were "like girls" because they wear makeup and was very disrespectful towards them. i'm also pretty sure B-Free is from Hawaii, which is why in this cypher (at 8:13) Suga says "go to Hawaii, go home".

All of the cyphers are not specifically to B-Free. It's to all the underground hip hop rappera who looked down on BTS rapline and insulted them. Essentially, the ciphers were directed to the whole underground hip hop industry if you like
No, not all are about BFree. Only the second one. 1, 3 and 4 are generally about their haters and Korean condescending underground rap scene.

korean is a word play kind of language. english translations are very simplified. it’ll never be 100% exact. so when i see other hip hop/rap lovers who give bts’s rap line their well deserved credit, it makes me so happy. music in another language should never be a reason why someone doesn’t listen to something. those people are missing on a HUGE world and missing out on some of the greatest music ever made.

"Old School" hip hop was so SO much better then it is now. Now, most hip hop is more pop hop and the artists just spit a few bars on some pop artists song. I really miss original rap when it was raw and emotional, came from someplace real and told a story. Not many of those left. Now it's just an industry trying to appeal to the masses for money. All three BTS rappers are extraordinary but also have incredibly different styles. Part of why I love the 4 Cyphers so much is being able to hear all three side by side. That and being ARMY I love how good they are at clapping back at their haters (you hearing me B-Free?)

Yes, as lots of people have said, this song was mainly for B-Free (+other underground rappers like him), who said in an interview directly to RM and Suga that they sold out because they were underground rappers but 'gave in to the temptation' and became idols instead. Then he said that because of this, they were no longer 'real' rappers, followed by saying them wearing make-up on stage (i.e. the way every artist does in music videos and live shows etc. all over the world, including him) was a conflict with hip-hop and then also that it was like 'being a girl'.
This was said directly to their faces, but because in Korean culture you have to respect those older than you or in a higher position of power, RM and Suga couldn't say anything back to (older than them) B-Free and just had to take it. So in true BTS fashion, they took that hate and turned it into a song (as you see in Suga's lyrics, he says 'go to Hawaii, go home' - this is where B-Free is from).
By the way, it's not like B-Free actually has a leg to stand on as I checked out his music to see how justified he was (you know, maybe he was mad awesome and felt he was better than them or something), but nope, it's all pretty garbage in my opinion :/
He tried apologising (on Twitter, I believe?) 7(?) years after the fact and then liked someone's comment that his earlier comments about BTS were funny. Therefore, all of ARMY believes it's not genuine at all (even if he hadn't liked that comment, his actual apology was pretty lacklustre).
I'm sure that, in time, you guys will react to certain recommended videos of the hardships that BTS have endured so you understand the amount of hate they received and why ARMY is so protective of them because B-Free is really just the tip of the iceberg.
Also, *please* react to BTS Cypher Medley Live 2017; it's a *must* after reacting to the cyphers. It's one of my favourite performances ever and please leave the auto-generated lyrics *off* as they're never correct, and just enjoy the show. It's unreal. what i LOVE about the cyphers is that it was where bts had an outlet to clap back at all the people who shit on them at the beginning of their careers until like 2016 or so (and it was a lot, mostly senior artists and other krappers). once they got big, they realized that the ones still barking weren’t even worth it, bts were way above them now to even give them the time of day. nowadays bts’s diss tracks are less targeting and more classy and playful in a way. Ddaeng is a good example of this, they diss haters with wordplay instead of direct insults, it’s absolutely genius.
of course, agust d is a different story, but that persona is just all-around savage anyway so yoongi doesn’t give zero fucks when he drops music as agust d lol (a good agust d song to check out is “what do you think”, an AMAZING diss track that’s directed at the media and industry execs who have it out for bts now that they’re big)
back in the days, each of BTS rappers wrote their parts individually. RM, Suga and JHope are 3 of the most amazing rappers in the world! it's amazing how each of them have 4 to 8 different flows in their part! BTS is the best! there's nothing like BTS!

So yes all the idols have to do mandatory military service for 2 yrs. The age limit is 28. Now things are a little confusing because the president changed the rules. But BTS had always said they will do the service and it's an honor. So technically Jin is supposed to go to military for 2 yrs now since he is 28. It's not 2 years anymore they took it down to 18 months for all citizens which is amazing, but I'm not sure on how long ago they changed it, and yea the Korean government officially changed the age limit to 30 pretty recently for them which was so amazing. and welcome baby army ~ Aussie Army
