It’s most likely like that because Soldier knows that Reaper is Gabriel. He blames Gabriel (and himself) for everything
I still feel like he'll become a future villain in the game's story.
He would be a really cool antagonist. The dilema of Overwatch confronting the very man who used to lead them would make for a very interesting plot.
The juxtaposition of Jack being not exactly evil but not entirely good either could also make for some serious tension among the heroes.
I could even imagine Jack potentially causing some internal conflict within Overwatch. With some of them wanting to help Jack, whereas the others may want to arrest/kill him.
It could add a whole nother layer to the story, testing the morality of some characters.

@@nosense8744 Well Gabriel always had a bit of evil inside him, even before becoming Reaper.
Also Reaper is just straight evil, whereas I think Soldier could be a cool anti-hero character.
If they ever decide to do more PVE, I’m assuming they’ll do one for him where Cassidy and Genji track him down and ask him to come back, but Jack tells them he’s hunting Reyes, so Cassidy tells him that Reyes is dead, only for Ana to appear and tell Cassidy how he’s wrong, before discussing Talon’s activity in the area, causing the four of them to team up to deal with Talon
When the mission ends, we’d get a cutscene where the four of them run into Reaper and Moira, causing Cassidy and Genji to momentarily drop their guard and forcing Jack and Ana to save their teammates
Talon’s forces leave, and after some talking with Ana, Jack decides to rejoin Overwatch, making it clear that he’s only joining to bring down Talon and Null Sector, that once their enemies are beaten, he’s leaving again

Poor guy. He lost everything near and dear to him when he was “killed”. The scrutiny he received in overwatch’s waning years. He was just a man trying to do the right thing. Now all he has left are his regrets and his rifle.

In OW1 and OW2 his lines are really sad and depressing, especially when he talks to Genji

@Olivia_Sombra to be fair, I remember there being one somewhat sad interaction between baptiste and junkrat. In the interaction junkrat realises that no one likes him, baptiste then suggests that he let go of his bombs. Junkrat feels insulted by this and says that he doesn't want that as he feels like that is what he was made for.

Why are all people at and above 40 years in this game depressed ? Jack: 58. Same with gabriel. Reinhardt: 61. Sigma:62. Ana: 60. Hanzo i think:41. All of them. Their lives got crushed. To dust...

They mirror eachother. Not to mention they were extremely close in SEP. Soldier has been trying to chase Reaper for whatever reason but Reaper doesn’t want Soldier to do that.
Reaper: “Tell Jack to stop chasing me.”
Ana: “I have. He wouldn’t listen.”
Reaper: “Isn’t that just like him?”
The thing about them is that neither of them received mirrorwatch skins, despite being on opposite teams. I’m pretty sure they don’t have voice line interactions with eachother at all either, even though they’d seem to have the most chemistry in voice lines out of every hero matchup lore-wise. Their relationship is pretty deep and painful
Edit: Nevermind, Reaper and Soldier do have a voice line interaction with each other where they’re pretty bitter to eachother. Something interesting about this is that they still talk like they’re joking with eachother, but instead a serious tone. It’s just pretty weird I guess.
