Yes. Tool has kept me alive and feeling something since the mid 90's. I am so grateful that I get to see more people claim the benevolence and beauty of MJK and Co.
Right, I've noticed how many hip-hop guys are falling in love with Tool. Their brilliance is undeniable.
"That voice!" - low key me everytime
Years later, I still find myself amazed by his vocals in this. And the way he starts off weaker/softer and then as things progress he has so much power in his voice. Perfection.
When I was younger I had different feelings and interpretations of this song, but then I experienced a co-dependent abusive relationship and the lyrics cut straight to my heart. I think it's pretty clear what the song is about. IT's a very strange place to be. Feeling pity, love, and fear for the same person. The lyrics are so powerful in conveying just what it feels like. The justifications "you pushit on me, but you still love me". So many amazing lines. "I feel alive when you hold me.....down" the line feels beautiful until its resolved with the word 'down' and then its twisted. Then of course the ending is so powerful "if when I say I might fade like a sigh if I stay, you minimize my movement anyway, I must persuade you another way, there's no love in fear". It's that desperate attempt to leave and do what's right for both people but being unable to do so without hurting the other. Basically saying I can't stay in this without dying...and the partner saying I don't care I need you to stay with me, and realizing there is no gentle or peaceful way out. There is only survival, and that forces me to be the bad guy to get us both out of this pain. "Remember I will always love you, as I claw your fucking throat away, you leave no other way, this will end no other way". Powerful.
TOOL is a once and a life time band like Floyd and Zeppelin. They really don't have a bad song.

What about this version of the song? It's just an unmastered jam, a pile of tortured ideas taken from the very great song.
Sorry guys, I really love studio Pushit from the very first to the last note. And Live Pushit feels wrong all the way through, it's just bad.
E.g. Pucifer does great job remaking and rearranging their songs, so I'm very open-minded towards such things.
Chrome 52 this is my favorite song of all time. That’s just our opinions though
@@AlexpPresley701 I definitely prefer the studio version more. It actually guided me through my devastating divorce many years ago, along with Puscifer's Potions, playing many times a day. The live version is spectacular, just not the better one to me.
@@AlexpPresley701 I've never heard someone say that. That's quite interesting. Personally, I love both versions. In my opinion, the studio version captures the raw pain of the situation, while the live version explores the healing side.
My favorite song, both versions. Like you two said, the lyrics, Maynard’s voice and the music all speak together, powerful message.
I don't Normally agree with doing the live version 1st but this was fantastic, I think she may be starting to fall in love with Tool now lol

1998 was the prime of Maynard’s voice and you can’t tell me otherwise, I prefer his voice during the Lateralus tour in 2001 but in terms of vocal ability he was at his peak during this performance

This is actually the one live version of a Tool song I actually like better than the studio/original version. Tool army follows along with anyone who takes the time to EXPERIENCE them...almost like it's us discovering them for the first time again. Keep 'em coming. Oh, if no one has told you, stay away from any Official music videos from Tool. Waaay too distracting, especially for first time listeners. Lyric videos are fine. Enjoy the ride and continue to spiral out.
Sometimes your just not ready for tool and then suddenly it all clicks into place and your left there kicking yourself thinking why didnt i get this before now. I think you may be living that moment. Enjoy =)

I really like the way you don't intrude into the songs and really appreciate what you are listening to. This is probably the most refreshing thing i have watched on you tube in a long time. its also extra special that you have chosen to do this with my favorite band. its a pleasure hanging out with you as you discover this music. It feels like the cool kids have invited crazy old uncle over to play some music, and the cool kids discover that crazy uncle is not so crazy after all....keep discovering Tool.

As for interrupting on other channels, i think (him) it's so they can avoid copyright claims so if they make their living off RUclips I can understand that (although it is sometimes tiring / annoying unfortunately)
That ending was like a knock-out punch to your senses. Like you have been beaten up musically and loved every second of it.
Love to see people experience Tool for the first time. Subbed. If you like live stuff like this song i would highly reccomend their song You Lied. Keep it up you two good stuff.

This was my first tool concert..! June of 96 in red rocks Colorado.. when this album came out years later I couldn’t fucking believe it..! Been a huge fan ever since..!

Theres no other band that can perform live like Tool.. Its an experience every time, so lucky to see them live in Sydney again just before covid...
Pushit "The Fan" version on You Tube is the best version imo, it's not great audio quality, but you can still tell that the singer is belting it to the full extent while also sitting on a person that jumped onto the stage trying to hug him. Truly epic. (Video is a must, you see the guy get on the stage, and then the singer takes him to the ground, get's on top of him, and continues to sing this song, and the lyrics take on yet another meaning)

Also the name of the song is a play on two phrases. “Pushit” is “push it” on me and “push shit” on me which both play into the message of the song. Great song!!!

On point . I've never seen 2 people feel like I do but vocalize it as clearly . You must know but another Maynard James'Keenan band is A Perfect Circle , and also Puscifer. Somehow even though they are different sounding somewhat, esp Puscifer they all grab me differently but equally. You guys rock. Greetings from Quebec Canada

I was at this concert. Over 2 nights they played every song they have except two interstitial tracks. They had a bunch of guests and did a lot of covers. I did not realise this was Pushit for a long time.

Enjoying your Tool reactions. There is a decent live recording of this song on RUclips - 1998 Lewiston, ME. I'd suggest watching it, the audio quality isn't great, but watching Maynard perform this is mesmerizing.
It's not the one where Maynard ends up grappling with an unruly fan while singing, is it?

I love how you can see that the tribal drums in this version of the song can clearly be seen as inspiration for one of their later songs, "Right in Two" (my personal favorite Tool song). Phenomenal reaction! I love how you incorporate both your raw emotion and real-time reactions to the amazing music while also delving deeper intellectually.
They aren't tribal drums exactly, that's an indian classical instrument called tabla

Your reaction at the end is my exact reaction to this song... and I've been listening to it for 20+yrs!! Though the studio version is heavier and more aggressive, this version is 10 times more powerful!! esp with Maynard's vocals, as an instrument in its own right, seamlessly guiding you throughout the journey of this song

There is a live version of ‘Sober’ from early nineties that a lot of reactors have used that is good quality and is the song/video that start many reactors on their Tool journey.
I've known this song for many years, but I've never heard it like this. Very powerful indeed. Your reaction videos are very genuine and nicely done. I do hope you have Wings for Marie in the queue, but a little back story is quite helpful on that song duo.

people ask my favorite Tool song ....it's so hard to decide, but honestly if i really consider it ...this is it. I think I might like the original better, but this version is absolutely amazing.

The song is about Maynard getting abused by his father! The song is a more reflective extension on from prison sex which is about the same thing! Maynard is coming to terms with what happened to him through the music....its his catharsis!!
