MK is like an older sis to me that knows how to skate lol. She's older than my actual sis by 2 years who doesn't know how to skate, but her maturity, her sophication, her background (I'm also an immigrant raised in an impoverish immigrant family from HK who grew up in the west coast), makes her someone deserving to look up to as a child younger than her by 10 years lol. Just like my actual sis:)

no, you are wrong. MK's success is her personality. she loves what she does and is not about the winning. The medals she had were a test to her own desire to win, and it's a lesson she must learn to become what she is today. MK in her late years just wants to skate her heart out for the people who want to watch her and give them a performance they deserve to watch. THAT's what makes her special and no one else did what she did. She's not the best in jumps, nor spins, nor spirals (though iconic), but her heart and soul on the ice and her need of making a performance worthwhile for people to keep coming to watch is what make MK MK.

Michelle finished no lower than 3rd place between 1995 ~2004, her longevity was unreal. For that, Michelle's technique was hard to close for the other skaters. The other skaters who had good jumps, spins, spirals ....just disappeared one by one , because they got hurt by the jumps or grew up and everything changed. Change of the edge spiral is Michelle's signature move. I also enjoy Michelle's Charlotte spiral, when her finger touched the ice...just like a kiss. Actually, Michelle's spiral was the best in her era. But I agree what you said about Michelle's passion, her heart......

The Russian girls got hurt by the jumps and retired one by one. No one of them could be the next Michelle Kwan.
