    If you liked Vesperia, you definitely should give Abyss a try! I would love to hear your opinion on the original (PS2, 2005) versus the port (3DS, 2012 I think)

      @@wasmachensachen6473 Both are good imo. The PS2 version is harder to find but actually looks better because the 3DS has very bad anti-aliasing (none at all I believe). The 3DS version has slight QoL updates like artes being mapped to the bottom screen but it doesn't have co-op so if you intend to play with someone else, you can't.

    Tales of Symphonia is when this series took a huge leap foward. If you can get it.... get the Gamecube version as that's the 1st version.
    If not. The remakes have some issues...sure more content but some preformance issues during battle and such.
    Otherwise try to dive into Xillia. Another fun entry!

    Some sidequests you might enjoy. Fell Arms, Necropolis of Nostalgia, Labyrinth of Memories, the Sword-Dancer, and the Coliseum. The Fell Arms is a sidequest that has a payoff in a subsequent playthrough. The Necropolis, the Labyrinth, and the Sunken Grotto (where you find the Sword-Dancer) are hidden optional dungeons. The Fell Arms are linked to the Necropolis and the Sunken Grotto, two of them you find in the Necropolis and one of them unlocks the path into the first Sunken Grotto. Once you unlock the Labyrinth, it becomes a wonderful place to grind for levels, gald, and GRADE, completing it is necessary to unlock the 100-man melee at the Coliseum. All of these sidequests have beautiful payouts, the Fell Arms are the most powerful weapons in the game on subsequent playthroughs but you can get pan-ultimate weapons from the other sidequests.

      "Best" in regard to video games is rather subjective. Even using sales figures is tricky because something might sell well that is kinda awful. Resident Evil 6 has the most hate of any main RE entry in the series, yet it had amazing sales in large part due to people buying it who liked RE4 and/or RE5, or who just wanted to buy the latest entry in the franchise. We can certainly declare our "favorite" Tales game, as mine is Berseria thus far, but to declare one as the "best" is a fool's errand when there are so many different variables to take into consideration and that each player's tastes/preferences differ.
      For example, I love story elements involving redemption arcs, temptation, and having a dark side to the playable characters. As such, Berseria totally ticks all the right boxes for me. On the other hand, if someone hates those elements in a game, then he or she might despise Berseria due to the exact things that made me love it.

    Aww man, I've been playing Tales games since Phantasia, and I've probably played almost all of them. I even bought Vesperia for a system I didn't even own when it first came out. I typically whip out a guide when I first start having full world access. But then I have a problem being hesitant to finish the games, but I eventually convince myself to do it since there's usually post game content. And ya, stuff is totally missable, don't worry about it to much the first go around, just enjoy the characters, story and gameplay. Still need to get through Berseria and Arise, but they're in my backlog.

    If you want to give one of the older games in the series a try, Tales of Destiny for the PSX is a ton of fun. It's from before the transition fo 3d, so it uses SNES era sprites for the overworld. While the spirit of the battle system is the same, its on an illustrated 2D plain.

    If you like this play the others. Xillia 1 and 2 (Best characters in the series), Graces F (has the best combat in the 3D games of the series), Hearts R and Berseria are pretty good The Symphonia HD collection is pretty good although in my opinion Symphonia has not aged well. Also missables go away in the games after Vesperia. STAY AWAY FROM ZESTIRIA! Its pretty bad bu if you are curious just leave it as the last game you play so you can see all its flaws.

    Genuinely surprised to see you complimenting the battle system, it's one of the only things (if the only thing) that I felt did not age well. Later games removed TP for other systems where it just regenerates between combos and makes for a lot more fluid combat mechanics so nice. Also Patty was completely removed from the original release so just try imagining the game without her. and Flynn only joined for a single fight.

  • @tatlxtael2303
    @tatlxtael2303 5 лет назад

    If you want tales of recommendations- ill have to ask if you still have a PS3. If you do, I highly recommend Xillia or Graces f. Graces's story is a bit BLEH generic anime friendship story but has arguably the most fun combat system in the game. Xillia kinda hybridizes TP and Graces f's combat mechanics but has an amazing story that gets bad in the sequel. otherwise play Berseria. It spoils some fo the things in Zestiria, but Zestiria is just not a fun game. It was rushed out super early for the 20th anniversary as a special and it shows- overall felt like a rough draft of the final game that wasn't really fleshed out and about 3/5 through development they just said fuck it and started perfecting berseria which is overall far better.

    Can someone convince me to like the combat? I honestly do want to like these games.

    • @AustinSV
      @AustinSV  5 лет назад +2

      All I can really advise is utilizing manual cancels because it speeds up combat a LOT and lets you actually play aggressively. You have a very wide window to do it, just immediately after pressing the button for the attack start holding ZR + forward towards the enemy + block. I dunno, look up the combo videos too maybe. Otherwise might just not be for you which can happen

    • @tatlxtael2303
      @tatlxtael2303 5 лет назад +2

      The combat of graces f is the best by far. Berseria's is pretty good but honestly if you dislike dodging at the last possible second and guardin to get your gauge back it's not gonna be your thing. Also the combat is slow until you get skills/reach midgame imo in most of the games.

    • @aeon5566
      @aeon5566 5 лет назад +2

      Tales of Graces F has the best and most fun combat system. Berseria is very similar, but I didn't like it as much as Graces. In Berseria you can run out of moves if you mess up and it's hard to get them back in boss fights so it just becomes tedious.

    I played Vesperia on PS4 I never really noticed the change I Yuri's Voice to be quiet honest because I was way too into the game my Main was Repede because when else have you gotten to play as Dog that stabs people with a knife. I have played a lot of Tales games before and the jumping has always been an issue for me but it doesn't bother me but the problem with playing as Repede is he's one of the Shorter characters which makes it harder to hit flying enemies than it already is. I took the time out and did a lot of Side Quests and by the end of the game I had put in like 80 Hours.

    Yeah, the way Bandai Namco handled this game was pretty bad. It seems as far as remasters go for the Tales series, the localization for them is very sloppily done. Errors that didn't exist before suddenly show up, and the new content isn't as well done as the original. You can always tell where the new stuff is because of the difference in quality.
    To me, it really looks like they don't care anymore about the quality of work they put into their games, and it's sad that no one else really cares about it.

    This game was not fun for me, there were so many problems. Where do I start? Some battles are stupidly hard and ruins the fun, the story doesn't make any sense and is all over the place, the characters are also trash and just weird, (Rita's weird obsession for blastia as of they are a person), throwing new weapons at you every 5 minutes ruins the excitement of getting a new weapon. The battle system was fun though, but this game is pretty garbage.

    So I was completely lost when you said that 99.9% of the time battle FPS never hits 30, but that you prefer a consistent 30FPS to an occasional 40 to 50. That statement makes no sense whatsoever. If it never hits 30FPS then what on earth are you even talking about? Either you worded that statement wrong or I am very confused about the way you worded that sentence. The Switch version has 60FPS combat and 30FPS overworld right? So what are you even talking about?

      No the switch version is inconsistently going at 50fps outside battle and lags below often so he means that the game could have run a consistent 30fps outside battles instead of trying to get higher framerates which drops all the time like 50minus fps

    I played this game for 10 hours. The story refused to get engaging, the characters were bland, and worst of all the combat system is complicated and unpleasant to play. Everyone that I've seen talk about it online seems to need to use an exploit to make it play smoothly.

      Oh, yeah, it's manual cancels. I guess that's an intended mechanic, but it feels completely necessary since the third hit of you're 3 hit combo will GUARANTEED leave you open for the enemy you were just attacking to start comboing you.

      I got hard roadblocked on the forest boss. I can't even remember what kind of enemy it was. I ended up using a level up item because I hate grinding. I then immediately got roadblocked on the next boss.

    I almost left a very unpleasant comment... This "content" is just this guy simping his sponsors. Nothing of any real value here.

    Tales of Eternia on PSP was the best. The story was phenomenal the graphics were endearing! The characters were really well developed. This whole hting makes no sense. The "guild" doesn't sound very lucrative. Karol and Patty were by the worst omword what annoying useless characters. The fighting was also not that great hey

    Every single tales game ive tried was complete garbage, graphics are okay if you like the style but nothing special, everything looks and feels super cheap, plot senseless crap that drags forever, combat is so freaking repetitive and boring, everything feels very generic, voice acting mediocre in lots of cases, i would never touch a tales game again, there are hundreds of jrpgs why play this cheap as garbo instead of literally anything else??? Really enjoy wasting 50hrs of your life on a lackluster experience go ahead. Maybe the switch does not have a lot of jrpgs? Im sure you can find something, or emulate a classic, play on pc or any other console do anything except tales.
