    If you haven't played a Dragonborn or something similar in dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder you should definitely give it a try. Can't go wrong with claws and a breath weapon.

    Characters I'm debating between for my next campaign, either a bronze dragonborn cleric to bahamut. A silver half-dragon paladin of bahamut, or a kobold celestial warlock of bahamut, the warlock is.my most fleshed out idea, kobold that doesn't want sacrificed to his clan's black dragon master has her prayers answered by a silver dragon in service of bahamut, swears her life to him.

    • @Rookzer0
      @Rookzer0  5 лет назад +4

      I think thouse could all be fun. The kobolds are fun as expendable characters so making it really weak and then giving it a reason to live, and worship bahamut woulf be really cool. Then you could justify your exsistance as divine intervention

    Unearthed arcana added a feat that gives dragonborn wings in 5e. It is only a 20 ft fly speed but it is something.
    My dragon born story, We had two dragonborn in one of our games, the players were half siblings in real life so the decided to be half siblings in the game, they were a red and blue dragonborn respectively, so the had the same mother but 2 different dragon fathers... this lady got around exclusively with dragons apparently.

    I've got a lvl 4 female dragonborn cleric going in my current campaign wearing full plate with shield + mace or sickle (20 AC) originally in gold (fire cone BW) but since the campaign is going against undead for the adventure, my DM decided it would be radiant instead of fire and the resistence bonus was necrotic instead of fire. So the holy healer godzilla spews sunlight. First fight, I managed to hit 4 baddies at once (2 failed, 2 saved so 2 full dmg, 2 half dmg)... and it's beautiful! The only offensive spell in the kit is Spiritual Weapon (scythe) that floats around and reaps enemies while my she's screaming at enemies with daylight seeping from her mouth. I can't wait for her to level up more and become ungodly. But yeah, the limitation of 1 use per rest of the breath weapon with a super low dmg scaling kinda sucks. I wouldn't mind if it got more uses per rest and a slower dmg increase or no dmg increase as it leveled.

    • @Rookzer0

    In the fourth edition, they came up with this really cool dragon (in my opinion) called a Mirage dragon. A dragon that lives in the feywilds blessed with illusion magic and a breath weapon that dealt psychic damage!
    If I ever get the chance to be a dragonborn I hope to convince my DM that he/she can have assets from this guy, including three additional spells similar to the Infernal Legacy trait of a tiefling.
    Like at first my dragonborn will know the Minor Illusion cantrip at first level. Then at third level, he/she'll know the Sleep spell and then finally at fifth level he/she will get to use Phantasmal Force.
    Bit of a stretch, for the average dragonborn, but I find the idea really fun and I hope to use this idea one day for future games

    • @Rookzer0
      @Rookzer0  4 года назад +1

      That is a pretty cool way to play it I don't see the bonus canaries being to much of an issue. Might give up the elemental resistance since you'd do physic damage instead.

    While not perfect, I think critical role handles Dragonborn well. One subrace, ravenite, is big and strong and captures the strength and power of dragons while the other subrace, draconblood, captures the intelligence and charisma of dragons. I like what WoTC did in Fizbans because it made room for truly unique characters. Sure some of us want to play the big hulking badass dragon but there are those who just want to be a dragon thematically. A Dragonborn bard who integrates their fire or cold breathe into their performances is one example of how Dragonborn can be used outside of the big strong badass archetypes. Or maybe someone wants to replicate a dragon type into playable humanoid form, such as prankster copper Dragonborn or an anthropologist silver Dragonborn.

    I once made a blue dragonborn sorcerer (draconic ancestry) multi-class with a fighter (Eldridge Knight). I got him to level 20. He had wings, spells Galore, bound weapons, and a soul familiar. It was a pseudo-dragon named Kaiju. This was my second strongest character.

    I made a blue, cowboy like dragonborn wildmagic sorcerer for an one shot. A butch of goblins tried to attack us at night, but they were grouped together so I put them all out with a sleep spell, then next turn fried two with my lightning breath. Great fun. I tried to play him as kind of a merc who always tries to get to know his co-workers in jobs so they can use each others abilities, especially when they only know each other for a short period.

    My very first character in DnD was a Blue Dragonborn Barbarian. He was absolutely obsessed with his draconic nature going as far as to declare the dragons as the most superior race. He himself tended to act like a dragon choosing to only sleep on a expertly craft blanket of golden mail and was very stingy with his money and how he spent it. Ultimately he did learn polymorph from a Gold Dragoness (whom he later married) to transform into a Blue Dragon. Towards the end of the DnD he was given the role of Dragon God after straight up, walking into heaven, slaughtering all the other gods and forcing the one above all to make him a deity.

    One of my players made a dragonborn paladin in our new campaign. He deals with a lot of prejudice and fear from the public around him and sticks out like a giant sore thumb in the crowds of dwarves ("You don't happen to be one of them fire starters, do you?"), but he's really just a sweet little boy who wants to help people out. My first character was a blue Dragonborn monk. The first thing I did when I saw the race description in the 5E Guide was note that they don’t have tails. So I *of course* gave my Dragonborn a tail, but I also worked it into his backstory of being abandoned at the monastery due to this “birth defect”. The DM would sometimes have NPCs comment on it and if we trying to be incognito, he’d try hiding it under his robes (already being conspicuous enough just being a Dragonborn). He sometimes uses it for slap attacks just to mix things up, and I also headcanon it as being part of his high Acrobatics skill (better balance and all that).

    Love playing dragonborn to use the breath weapon for stupid shit like using the white dragonborns breath to blow frozen wind to propell a ship to great speed, melting the spiderwebs with acid to get line of sight on said spiders, or electrocute the water creatures are standing in for free paralysis.
