This is actually mine and my husbands bonsai that Peter so kindly worked on for us. It was my husband’s grandmother who passed away so this little tree has huge sentimental value to both of us. We gave Peter a complete free rein to do whatever he chose to this little juniper tree and we both feel he has done a wonderful job. I’ve always loved bonsai and have joined a local bonsai club as my knowledge is limited but I did recognise when we inherited this tree last year it needed repotting but waited for the right time of year to go to the experts for advice. Peter then has also made some amazing changes to make this once again look like a bonsai tree. Thank you so much, I have much to learn but an eager heart to do so!
What a beautiful gift from your husband's grandmother. Your bonsai is so lucky that you care for it enough to send it to Peter for some tender loving care ❤
There is something fantastic in realizing that the bonsai we create are not really ours. We have to rely on the people we pass the them down to, to take care of it.. and eventually pass it down again, continuing the process. Its absolutely wonderful.
I hope you will also find the time to teach this owner how to properly take care of the juniper. It would be nice to see this juniper live for many more years. :)
Quite unique that you’ve ended up with a really old tree that looks like a young one, when most of the time we try and do the exact opposite! And really nice to get to hear the inheritance story. If the leggy branches back bud I’d imagine they can be reduced which might bring the old trunk back into proportion. Or maybe the owner prefers it to stay more like how she remembers her grandmother having it 😊
Peter, you look handsome in this shirt! Josef is the man who gave you this as a present and proud that you wear it. 👍🏼 looking forward to the Lodder video. Bye bye
For me it was a great honour. The amount of knowledge this very humble and kindhearted man gives us we all should appreciate and cherish. Great work on the juniper btw
I love junipers , def peter in 1963 a pound was alot , my dad went to london at 16 then to work with 3 pounds in his pocket( his weeks wage here at the time )
I was sad as i heard you already where in the netherlands in the march, because u wanted to do a announcement video to this, i would love to come over from germany. One day i hope i can visit you and your nursery its not far away from germany but flights are not cheap as well in these times .It would be a big step in learning and seeing things you did in the real life and maybe say hello to Peter :D
Wow, that tree came out so nice compared to what it started with. Still want to see the Bristlecones but now the Sierra and I assume White Mountains (Where the Bristlecones are) are covered in record snow. I just retired and I would like to see them once more while I can still get around.
Hey Peter! I’ve just wired a new thoweil hinoki cypress. On the beginning of the branch I did slightly tear the branches while wiring. I completed the tree and happy with how it looks but what do I do with the two branches that are still attached but slightly torn
@@HeronsBonsaiUK yes, it’s maybe a quarter of the branch maybe 1/3 of the branch start is slightly torn. And it’s all wired up and when I look at it 30 minutes later. I don’t see it anymore, maybe because the contact of the sap or healthy inside parts has turned slightly brown and covered up. I hope it survives
Could you please recommend a soil brand that is good for planting pine seedlings tiny like my finger. Or should I just take some soil from the closest pine forest and try that? I’m also planning to do the same like you did in your video / how to make bonsai for free/ you just find the project trees in your garden to make a bonsai!!Thanks from Scotland Aberfeldy. I’m a beginner!
I like the tree, but somehow it felt like the upper left could have been reduced a bit. I know it’s a customers tree so perhaps she didn’t wanted anything gone.
I enjoy watching your videos but may I suggest wearing a microphone? Sometimes when you move away from the camera or during windy outdoor shoots, it's difficult to hear you and what you say is very important.
Am I the only one who thinks this is horrible? Amazing potential at the beginning that would be a wonderful forest but the final result is empty in my opinion

Beautiful story. Can you give us some pictures so we can see what it looks like now?
If you deal with a problem one at a time, they will all sort themselves out”. Sage advice for bonsai
The jiggerypokery is always insightful.

Peter Chan making magic. Love it!

Wow, such a transformation without pruning! I like the result and I also think the pot goes really well with it.
Herons Bonsai channel always amazing

Awesome transformation. Thank you for sharing!
That tree looks so much better now. Love the pot you chose for it.

Use Easy Jet and Gatwick which is only 9 miles from our nursery. Would love to see you here.
I was thinking it was the perfect candidate for a windswept 😅 happy you didn't use the axe today Mr chan
@31:55 "Jiggery-pockery" is a useful term for bonsai! Amazing transformation for this tree.

I heard a snap! 31:20
I have a Angelica Blue Juniper, still in pot from nursery, can I make a Bonsai from this kind, love watching you
I saw a windswept style tree at the beginning of the video

If it not completely severed - you can tie it up with wire or tape and let it heal. Good luck. It might be OK.

I just use a mixture of ordinary compost and sand. Soil from your garden would most likely work aswell.
I guess the good drainage is important

Greetings!
Can the juniper bonsai be left outside for wintering in the UK?
Yes - they are very very hardy. We leave our junipers out all winter.
Hi Sir,
What is the model number of Felco Secaterus do you use.
No 2
@@HeronsBonsaiUK Thank you Sir 🙏
A silk purse from a pigs ear comes to mind.
I wonder if that would have made a good living oak style?
I would have made a tree at the top of the hill
🥰

You are absolutely right - what many viewers dont realise that I have to respect the customer's wishes.
Well, you've made a right mess of that haven't you.
Why do you think so?
@@firemouse666 Just yanking yer chain.
Literati style perhaps?
!! 🟧♾️🟧 !!
Better to bring the tree to Eisei-en Bonsai or to Bonsai Releaf.. tsk tsk
sorry, this time i can not understand this change. The raft seems to me better choice
👍👌👌🙂🙂
