I found some videos in RUclips, where they say.. IMSI number can be used to track location using only an RTL SDR .. but how does an imsi number reveal the device location.. in that video they use some website to enter the imsi number and that website show the tower location
what “they” are enter is not the IMSI it self, but lac-cell identification the format almost the same like IMSI, that is MCC - MNC -LAC-CI or if 4G is ECGI, in particular website it has mapping from that value LAC-CI to lat-long

Hiii Cesar, maybe you can invent it by your self 😊, for Active Imsi catcher so far not possible because the sdr with Tx the dimension it self is more than 3x6 cm. for Passive feel free to measure the dimension, power supply+compute unit (raspberry pi?) +sdr, the measurements in centimeters even for rtl-sdr it self are approximately 13.79 cm x 7.89 cm x 1.40 cm.

Hello Michal, thanks to see if phone do making (MOC/Mobile Originating Call) or MTC (T=Terminating) we just simply look if the “Immediate Assignment” in CCCH level is exist or not, if exist that means that means cell phone do any transaction (MOC/MTC/USSD/SMS) but no details in Immediate Assign for which type among of those i mentioned since going further than that we need to decipher the A5/(1 or 2 or 3) in CM Service request setup or SDCCH . i hope that’s clear and clarified

Realtek ..... else b.vmware (after booted and prompt) --> menu --> "Virtual Machine" --> "Usb & Bluuetooth settings" --> is your rtl_sdr populated there ?

I went to the bottom right with the cursor in USB, by right clicking I pressed on the rtl-sdr device and then I hear the noise of the rtl-sdr device disconnecting from windows and automatically connect to virtual box . good very good, now the phrase one small step for man, one big step for humanity comes to mind 🤣 . there are several reasons, one of them we just avoid the implications of personal data protection, others things it’s to risky to disclose

if hackrf can only catch 2g signals, how about 4g and 3g?
