This was awesome to see b/c Sir Charles is a straight arrow. Only pushback I would give was regarding growing up in NYC. I grew up in the South Bronx. Each block was like a small town. So we had the small town feels when it came down to helping each other in the ‘hood & handing things down. He’s not familiar with it, so not holding it against his commentary. I appreciate you Sir Charles!!! Would love to talk to him in person.

Respectfully, no. The voters weren’t ready to give Jokic the historical achievement of 3 MVPs in a row without postseason accomplishment. And Embiid had a GREAT season with close numbers, and they were ready to reward someone else deserving (think Derrick Rose when he won, Karl Malone, etc.).
I don’t think Perk would have the power to move the tide that way with educated voters, especially with an “out there” take like the one he had.

Once upon a time, we had Jacked Up segments. We had Big Blocks and King Sized Hits of the NFL (presented by Hershey). We had video games like NFL Blitz that glamourised some pretty unconscionable tackling.
If it helped the bottom line, the NFL put its name on it. If it didn’t, they removed it and hard core went in the opposite direction. That’s how bone crushing hits became outlawed.

I disagree with the MVP take. It’s an individual award unless they outline the criteria going forward. Most valuable to me is if you take this player off the team they fall off a cliff or struggle more. If the team is still well oiled without you then you are not the most VALUABLE player

Shaq has gotta be one of the most thin-skinned athletes that have accomplished so much. Even in that recent podcast with JJ Redick, Shaq comes across as having ears too big for his head (and his head is huuuge). I've never seen someone complain as much as Shaq does about how others rank him all time, it's pretty ridiculous. The NBA’s approach to the MVP award is the correct one. In MLB, your team can have the worst record in your division (Mike Trout, Alex Rodriguez) or league and you can still get the MVP. MLB’s reasoning: his team couldn’t have made it to LAST PLACE without him. SMDH.
