ABZ's first verse is my favorite part, his tone is absolutely distinct.

Because BSB and NSYNC are american boybands which will get you alot bigger worldwide if they promote you in the US if FIVE were promoted in the US im sure they would have been bigger
To be fair, they were quite popular worldwide. It’s unfortunate that Simon didn’t manage them well. They were able to breakthrough the US market which is something European boybands failed to do during the nineties and 2000s.

Not only Five, Westlife also they never made it to the U.S, I heard they said that at that time there are too many boybands in US also, so US radio and tv channels refused to boardcast them. Their disadvantage as a British boybands and a bad timing coz there are lots of boybands in the late 90's. They all are very talented, I really miss them,these days there are no boybands as good as them and I think that's why Kpop are becoming popular and I myself started to Stan a Kpop band(BTS). They're good and I really love them but to be honest they are not in a level of late 90's pop groups.
@@darthmatt4891 Five did have 1 hit in the US "When the lights go out"...According to Simon Cowell Five turned down "Bye Bye Bye" which Simon stated "This song would have broke the band in America". However, Five passed on it and it was given to NSYNC and the rest is history.
This is actually a pretty catchy tune. I don't really remember the band that much but, from listening to songs like this, it's clear why people liked them so much.

really scary to think this was 29 years ago. here we are in 2024 and its still a banger, and we also have the privledge of having atleast 3 of them back making music togeather as a band. from watching the big reunion though it shows that being in the limelight isn't as clear cut as people think... they soldiered on putting on a happy brave face knowing deep down everything was starting to crumble around them.

Their first hit. As a British boy band, they were not that popular in the U.S., especially back to the time full of amazing boy bands. But I really like them. Actually they couldn't be just defined as a boy band, since their music combined so many types.

I live in the Midwest and they were huge here. I had their CD, got it at walmart way back in the 90's. All my friends knew who they were, they were even played during our gym class. Not sure about anywhere else but I know they were a huge hit here. Back when Disney Channel was poppin. I had such a huge crush on Abz, still do. He is still so fine. I miss the 90's!!

This was the only boy band I really liked back in the day. I thought they were cooler than the Backstreet Boys and Nsync because they were British , had two rappers, and they were edgier. They played a lot of British bubble gum pop in Canada so they were on TV a lot!

Remember watching a documentary in 1998 about how when the band formed they were moved into a house in Camberley, Surrey and made their neighbours lived absolute hell. They’d be shouting things like “Look what he’s done down the toilet! Look how big it is!” with total disregard for who could hear them. Still, I think they were a good band and their songs take me back to my youth.
