Andy Warhol at Tate Modern

  • Andy Warhol is probably the most influential and debated artist since 1945. His creative activities stretched across painting, printing, sculpture, film making, performance, music and publishing. Tate Modern attempts to reassess this well exhibited artist as a more underground, marginal figure as the gay son of immigrants in the 1950s and 1960s. We learn that death and religion also played a formative role in the development of Warhol's art. The Art Channel visits and films inside the show as Grace and Joshua discuss the undeniable impact of the man who made art in a 'factory' with a crew of assistants. He remains a polarising and contentious artist veering from maverick to celebrity. What cannot be denied is his huge impact on the creative life of the United States and around the world. Our film provides an independent assessment of the artist and review of the exhibition.
