Thanks mate. Tech here from Canada. I always enjoy your videos keep them coming. I’m still waiting for a close up to see you restore grain to a leather repair on a leather that has a very heavy grain. I find W-2 and similar water-based products don’t always cut it and by the time you get the pebble big enough to hide the repair the leather has now a different look to it than the rest of the seat. With ironing I’m scared I’m going to damage the seat because it’s leather not vinyl? Love to see you work your magic :)
Thanks Morgan. I don't encounter much of the really heavy grain in leather. I see it in the vinyl and plastic in some models of Mercedes for example. I'd be glad to pursue it if you'd point me to the model of vehicle. Cheers!
A.R.T.'s Real Repairs for Real Customers thanks. Mercedes, Bmw And Some Rams all are very grainy so when you fill a cut with compound it looks extremely bald compared to rest of seat and you now have the problem of hiding it from customer. Easy to do when the leather grain is light.
Just spend 20£ and get a new pocket to fit in or go to a breakers yard and get one for half that. This is a long winded and ridiculous way to go about it.
Update: Before welding the black base to the pocket, you can remove the long arm at the hinge joint. This gives you much more room to weld.
