Big disagreement with your placement of Alice in Chains. On a technical level, Jerry Cantrell is better than Kurt Cobain and Kim Thayil. AIC's riffs are also hauntingly beautiful and catchy. I'd argue Jerry is the Tony Iommi of the 90s grunge scene with how he crafts his riffs.
Well from a technical aspect, Kim Thayil is at the top. He used several different scales and time signatures in his solos and riffs. While Jerry mainly did 4/4 and blues style solos. Regardless I do agree that Jerry is the superior song writer when it comes to writing riffs and melodies.
and thus stp continues to be one of the most underrated bands...riff masters and diverse catalog using unique chords with great solos. trippin on a hole in a paper heart, days of the week, plush...the list goes on and on and on.
Such disservice to put blur in D tier. Kid doesnt know dick about 90s music. They constantly changed their sound thru out the 90s,relying on band as a whole on top of that great lo fi sound they went for on their self title album. If he watched Paul David's breakdown of song 2 and how it's layered to make that icon sound he would think differently about it
You’re still young. Lol. It’s weird hearing me say that. I do this shit in my head, but after watching you do it, I see where my youth and maturity diverge. I think I realized it when you mentioned Modest Mouse. We’re always trying to claim the “discovery” as our own when we’re young. They’re a better band than I thought, but Pavement and stuff like that had already been done. Built To Spill. I just realize these things more and more and how shortsighted my ears were because I was just discovering all these bands and sounds. Listen and learn more. That’s it. I understood why your list was the way it was though. I know my list would’ve had subtle differences, but mostly the same. When you were talking about Sublime, I was already thinking “Red Hot Chili Peppers though.”
You should listen to a bit more Incubus😊. I think your opinion will drastically change. A crow left of the murder is a great start as far as checking out original tone.
Wow. Hes so wrong on radiohead not having that much influence. Sooo many bands have come out to say how influential theyve been and still are. This guys 🤦
Dude, not separating Pearl Jam's guitarists is huge crime. Especially when whey have pretty unique style each. Never mentioned threir influence in side projects such as Mike's Mad Season. Also try to look closer at what Dean DeLeo does for STP. Approaching chords and basslines in completely new way for this genre.
I’m just gonna completely disregard this video, because no way Kurt Cobain placed higher than McCready, Thayil and Jerry. Cobain doesn’t even come close to all 3 of those guitarists, influence shouldn’t even be a ranking.
Huge disagreement on Weezer’s placement. Rivers is probably a better guitarist than most these bands on here. He creates pretty amazing melodies and licks. The guitar riff for Say it Ain’t So, the iconic solo in Buddy Holly. Their album Pinkerton has such amazing and unique guitar arrangement. 100% wrong placement here
@@fun7475 Not only that but the blue album is iconic for it's guitar sound in general. Anyone who listens to blue always mentions the guitar. It's a guitar album.

@ I like your points I didn’t know about the time signatures he used!

They did have really awesome use of chords
I’m not the biggest fan of blur as a whole but just throwing them in d was nuts, graham has a ton of great and unique riffs
You made up for it by putting Frusciante in S tier, this tier list is wrong in a lot of ways but that is not one of them

Love Tom morello. if he is S tier where would you put Dimebag Darrell, John Petrucci and Marty Friedman?
Tom is good guitarist but just reminds me of the edge from u2, even tho he is better than the edge, he relies too much on effects and whah

Jeff Buckley was an underrated guitar player imo. He's not as popular as the rest but man he at least deserves an honorable mention.
2000s better include deftones
deftones suck ass
Totally agree with rhcp in s. I personaly think you missed out on pantera. Great video!
Yeah there’s a few that aren’t there, I didn’t want the vid to be crazy long

I think you missed many metal bands from the list entirely and deserve S tier like Pantera and Dream Theater
Bro forgot the band that influenced almost every band in the 90s after it, Page hamiltons Helmet, drop D God
Bernard Butler
Who makes a 90s guitar video without mentioning Extreme, Living Colour and Faith No More (KFAD)????
ranking Cobain above Cantrell as a guitarist is a joke
Ranking Cobain Above anyone is a joke
John Squire?

He's obviously hasn't heard anything besides the singles. Only in dreams 🤌🤌
