I recently started building 2 new 24x60 hoophouses using this bender, not sure when I'll be done with them or when I'll have a video up showing the progress. Sorry, I'm just really swamped with trying to get everything done this year on the property and re-establishing the farm after a 4 year hiatus due to family health issues.
Can you please post a link for where to purchase the bender? I own a Quick Hoops bender available through Johnny's. This one looks similar, but I'm not sure that its the same.
Due to circumstances beyond my control for various reasons, Both my greenhouses have collapsed due to ice/snow load issues. I'll be completely starting over again soon. I'll try to do a full series of the whole process.
@@bighunanballs They'd still be up if I had inflated them. Due to circumstances I couldn't make it out to even knock off the snow that caused their demise. I'm in Wisconsin.
What is the procedure to use this. The instructions from the Web site are only for the pf24. Which i just used and it's not right for the c24. I see you are bending it several times and pushing through which is completely different from the pf24 instructions. Just tried the pf24 ones and now got 4 poles i can't use as it bent them to a 34 feet wide not the 26-30 needed. Any help would be great.
I didn't get much more then get the supports in, which did help really straighten up the hoops. I will for sure do another video when I get more done, but it won't be till spring as we got extremely cold and snowy soon after the hoops got bent, installed and supported. Thanks for your interest.
It isn't the gauge only which determines the level of difficulty. Correct? Doesn't the diameter have some bearing on your ability to perform the tube bending? If the diameter of the pipe is too large AND the gauge too thick, then it would be considerably more difficult to accomplish your tasks.
it all comes into play, absolutely. These benders are designed to be used mostly with the poles generally used for chainlink fence top rail. They are commonly the same specs.
Hi Kevin, I called Johnnyseeds and was asking about their benders. They told me that 14 foot gothic was the widest benders they carried. I planned on 20'. I was happy to see that you went wider. I would really like to know where you got your bender and the stand. Any information along the lines bending the hoops would be welcome. Loved your video! Dennis
Can't remember the name off hand but it seemed like the multiple websites that sell them are actual the same company out of Texas I think. Small company, maybe just a sole owner and his wife? They are the ones with most of the videos about them. Sorry it took so long to reply, pretty busy life. 😉
www.hoopbenders.net/ is where I got mine from. Hope you're subscribed to the channel here, I'm going to rebuild one of the greenhouses and really it the channel hard this year with lots of content.
Your videos are always so engaging :), The subject for your clips are on point :), This vids of yours had me glued to the screen:), What camera do you use to shoot your episodes?, What mike do use?
Interesting enough, I used the camera built into my old iPad for this. This year, I'll be using a couple different setups to include an Iphone6 with an Osmo Mobile for some, and possibly a GoPro Session, and maybe an IPad again. I'd rather spend the money on the project, rather than on expensive cams.
Maximum length would be the longest greenhouse plastic available I guess. I think that is about 100' which is probably why most commercial greenhouses are 96' long.? I think I've actually seen it longer though. I did have one of my greenhouses collapse on me this winter... so, I'll be doing another build video this year, and explain why that happened, and what I'm going to do to prevent it from happening again. I also ordered low hoop benders to do soil row covers for pre-frost early planting. I plan on really hitting the videos and posting strong this year, so, make sure you subsribe. Follow us on twitter and Instagram as well.
Not yet, I e been so busy I haven't had time to do anything but grow grow grow. One person operations are Like that. I have about an acre of garden and it takes everything I've got time wise To keep up. Thanks for your interest and please Keep checking back. Next year is going to be amazing with lots of video blog to come.
I'll be doing a rebuild on one of my greenhouses this year, I had a collapse this winter, and it'll be redone, bending etc as well as discussion on what caused the problem, and what I'll be doing to prevent that from happening again, and maybe, I'll even get a chance to set up and grow in them this winter. I've been crazy busy with my soil areas that I've still not had a chance to build my hydro system or my raised beds, but I think this is the year it all gets put into effect.
I got lucky and found a 150' roll of 48' wide, so I could actually cover 1 greenhouse twice, and the other once with that. Otherwise, would have used 42 wide because the poles for each hoop are 4x10' and I wouldn't have wanted to gable that 40' wide plastic would cover it. Hope that helps.
roberto mungaray correct I do have the 6" boards at ground level with the wiggle wire attached to that, and being that the hoop/poles do sink down about a foot into that, there should be plenty of excess to cover.
there are about 5 companies now that all sell pretty much the same benders. Seeing I don't have an affiliate link, or sponsorship.... Well, ya know. But they are all the same pretty muc. Hoopbender.com links to the multiple sites
Robert Madden Sorry, replied with wrong account. I'll be attaching the Wiggle wire channeling today, hope to get most of the plastic pulled over the greenhouses this weekend.
I've never had a issue with wind. As for snow, the original 2 greenhouses I built DID collapse to ice and heavy snow load, but only because wasn't using or maintaining them while taking a 3 year hiatus while taking care of family medical issues. This won't be an issue on the new greenhouses I'm currently building. On top of that, I'm spacing the hoops 3 feet apart and I have 5 horizontal purlins as well as roll up sidewalls which have hip boards adding even more support. Also, I'll greenhouses will have 2 layers of plastic which will be inflated. I'll upload new videos soon.
I tried getting prices from fencing companies locally and their prices were very similar, no real savings at all and I'd have to order it bulk and I 20'lengths and then buy connectors etc

It appears to be the original "bender tool". If so, he purchased it from Loy Robinson (YT channel, as well), at buildmyowngreenhouse d o t c o m

how long did they last and where are you located? ive contemplated a high tunnel but up in maine we get lots of snow

Mr. Kevin, great video. Can you have a video of how the final greenhouse turn out? thanks

lu I'm actually getting them finished up this year FINALLY. So, I'll have a video of the finished product by the end of the year.

Are the hoops strong enough to do tomato trellis?
What kind of pipe did you use and gauge? and where did you get the pipe? Cheers
The pipes are top poles from chain link fencing, picked them up at Menards.

I actually used an ipad to video that, think the mic was a Blue mic
Great video! How are you joining those three pieces to form each rung?
Purlin connectors. I got them at Farmtek
is there a maximum length?

after last year, the heavey snow and lack of heating and maintenance on the hoop houses, they are both collapsed. Time for a rebuild when I have time.
what was the demensions of the plastic u used?

ok, so a 42' would cover all the way to the ground width wise?

What was the total cost of ir
Bestvinevideos2014 Once I finally get this build done, which will be soon, I'll try and put together a total cost. Finishing them up soon.
Food you update this yet?
Robert Madden Finally Finishing them up this year, New video before to long

Did you make the bender or buy it?
LuzYSonidoParaiso Bought the bender from a place out of Texas
where did you buy it?

Same bender and set up, top rail doesn't hold up to snow or wind.

Sorry to say this hoop bender jig is not visible.
Ya must be blind
Your tubing supply is ripping you off! You should be able to purchase top rail from a local fence supply company 61 cents per foot.
Home Depot-$9.95 ea. 10 foot sections. Ripoff!
Still cheaper than buying a greenhouse "kit" however.
I tried getting prices from fencing companies locally and their prices were very similar, no real savings at all and I'd have to order it bulk and I 20'lengths and then buy connectors etc
Kevin D. Leque that sucks my price wet down to $0.59 per ft with fuel price drop. I get the same price on all my tubing no matter 10' 6" or 21'
joshuawgarner Where do you buy your tubing at then?
