It didn't go well in theaters yes. But most of the people watched this movie in ott and people who went theatre also liked the movie. Kamal was a threat to even Amitabh in 80's. All of his Hindi movies were blockbuster. That's why Bollywood politics didn't made him grow there. (Mentioned in many 80's magazines).
