- Iran has vowed to avenge the killing of Hamas’s political leader Ismail Haniyeh, who died in an overnight air strike in Tehran, according to Iranian media.
Hamas and Iran blame Israel for the strike - Israel hasn’t commented but has previously vowed to eliminate the group’s leaders.
The killing, which came just hours after an Israeli strike on a Hezbollah commander in Lebanon, has heightened fears of wider conflict in the Middle East.
It could also delay efforts to bring a ceasefire in Gaza, as Haniyeh was a key player in negotiations.

He was someone who had no involvement in the October 7th attacks , and did not support it.
His position in Hamas was to broker a peace deal , and because of this it is clear that Israel specifically targeted him.
This was a pre determined and calculated attack, there were other Hamas officials who were pro october 7th who were left without a hair touched on their head

This is what I said. Hamas won elections meaning that a majority of Palestinians voted for them, and then they attacked Israel last year and now they are feeling the wrath of Israel . Most Hamas leaders don't even live in Palestine and they leave their people to face the consequences for the actions of Hamas. Do the Palestinians support Hamas and their attack on Israel? Because they voted Hamas in power, go after your terrorist group leaders that hide behind civilians. It's sad civilians/kids are dying but Hamas started this, they should fight on fair terms and not hide behind children, what does the world expect Israel to do? Wait up, up until now all the pictures of Gaza from the news have all made Gaza looked like the whole area had been devastated. In this video it shows people walking around the market, cars driving around and people going about their business. Seems like the news stations have exaggerated the situation in Gaza.
