- Eli is on another level for this one! Let me hear those thoughts and opinions on this one in the comments below! #1MannzOpinion, #voiceplay #whitestripes #sevennationarmy #cover #acapella #reaction #rock
Geoff said that Eli looked so bad ass with the bat, they were going to make him have one in every video.😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣
“Let Eli rock it out!” Agree, agree!
I often feel that Geoff and Layne eork in tandem, laying down the rhythm and bassline together. It's very obvious they know each other inside and out. As they have known one another since middle school, them two are the very foundation on all the incredibilities they all produce together. Members and guests.
They are an amazing duo
really? i knew they were both founding members of voiceplay, but I didn't realise they've known each other that long.
@@kaejuka6249 Singing together that long too! Middle School Chorus class.
I'm not sure if you've seen their song golden hour, but Anthony was in that as well. I love this cover so much, such a good bass line, Layne going crazy, Eli being a rock god and Cesar just being a whole mood that I love to see. 💜
I have reacted to Golden Hour but failed to make the connection lol. But yes, they were all so good!
Happy Birthday Katrina!
And I wanna say, so nice of you Flash, to say happy birthday to one of your followers!
Thank you
What Anthony does is a lot of runs. That is what I have heard it called. Runs. And yes he sounds like a boy bander. To me the techno works perfectly in this one. It is needed for effect. I think the techno dub step is PERFECT. I also believe Geoff taught the beat boxer Layne I think. . .
Really? That's incredible
I agree. It is apocalyptic...in the future! Of course the techno sound should be there!
I never heard this one before, so I have nothing to compare it to. After I heard it on Patreon, I did listen to the origina, still like this one better. Much better!!
Another really great cover of this is by Postmodern Jukebox with Haley Reinhardt. Took it in a totally different direction, but it’s SO good.
Guess who the original beat boxer for the group was? Geoff. He taught Layne, and Layne ran with it.
Scott Porter was their original beatboxer. However, Geoff knew how to beatbox too, so when Scott left, Geoff taught Layne the basics.
Eli is the rock god! ❤🏴
As much as I enjoy the costumes and all, what I like best is believable, consistent acting. That's hard to do. There isn't a second in this performance that you don't see that Eli has his mind on mayhem. He's truly scary. And having been a fan back in the day, long before we even saw Eli look seriously cross about anything, it's a huge shift. Could be he always had those skills but the situation didn't pull them out. Seems to me, though, that there has been a gradual change, and with every one of these epic/warrior kind of videos, Eli has gotten a little more dangerous, pushed it a little further, and with this one, he's there 100%. Not crazy dangerous, like Hoist the Colors, just plain someone you never want to cross. Huge credit to him for pushing his acting skills as hard as he pushes his singing skills.
I really love to think they are slowly weaving a story throughout these songs that we will see more and more of as we go.
@@1MannzOpinion Yes - for the Post-Apocalypse vibe it is almost as if they lost Earl & J between "Warriors" and "Dream On". And "Dream On' was more thoughtful because of it. But now they've lost Omar and they are in super-protective mode. I also like that each video had a different locale. Ties in well with Geoff's line about 'find a home...' As if they fight for Friend/family and home. But the acting also conveys a bit of weariness about the fighting - especially in the way Eli ends the song.
@@hwyla4416 I love this. Awesome narrative
Ever since Eli had to cover lead due to covid in Hoist the Colours, he has sky rocketed! Love his growth!
I love the original of the song and loved this cover of it. It's a whole gritty vibe going on and Iam here for it. I like the dub step feel of some of it but then again I happen to like that kind of music.
Awesome reaction Flash.
Anthony was in Golden Hour. The one were they were heads and Geoff's wife Kathy was the toy maker.
I completely forgot lol
@@1MannzOpinion
That's ok. It happens. Just ask my daughter. She's constantly having to remind me things 😂
The techno sounds are their voices. They mix them in the studio.
incredible
You saw and heard Anthony already in Golden Hour.
Yes, this is the latest in their trek through the apocalypse. I've been listening to this on repeat since it came out on Patreon. Everyone just killed this. Love it!!
Thanks for your reaction- I love this one!
Happy to do it
Killed it again!
It's pronounced more like Garjoola. It's an Italian name. And he was with VP in Golden Hour. He has a beautiful voice. And yes they're getting some trilogies going. Vikings 3 ? And is this Geoff's sexiest look yet? Jeez. I wonder if the odd sounds are just their voices being manipulated. I don't think they brought instrumentsin but what they can do on a computer now is amazing.
Anthony Gar Jewl la.
His and Eli's family's are long time friends.
Thanks for the info. I’m always fascinated how interconnected they all are.
I totally agree with you regarding arranging vocal percussion! It’s amazing! I know I often react to the sounds Layne puts in a song and how good they fit. Sometimes I think that I would never have thought of them but they fit so well! Sometimes they almost are a given (but I wouldn’t have thought of them anyway). Like for example in “If I were a Rich Man/Girl” where he paints a picture of the stairs going up and down, and in “Waving through a Window” where branches are cracking in the forest.
He's incredible!
A little do we know but I'm pretty sure Layne was an exorcist 🤣
🤣🤣
I think the entire group are exorcist! ;0)
🤘🏻😎💭
I pray they make Anthony a full time member ❤
you have seen Anthony before in Golden Hour, Geoff can beatbox also he taught Layne the basics of beatboxing and then Layne took it to another level. I was not keen on this the first time i heard it but i love it now
This is seriously the best. Besides Oogie Boogie I am loving loving loving this. Voice Play and Geoff are my absolute FAVES
In my opinion, Layne stole the show on this one musically. He really outdid himself here.
Also, those sounds you said were not vocal, I'm pretty sure they are, just heavily processed. I could be wrong, I know VP has used sound effects here and there before, but I've listened to this a lot, and I think they're still vocal.
This whole arrangement is fantastic. I still keep hearing new things, and like I said, I've listened to this one a lot.
Layne consistently blows me away
So, someone in another comments section said that sound is acutally a sample that can actually be found as a loop in Garageband.
@@katthor7311 Except that Layne is capable of 'synthesizer' sounds. He's done it before, even long ago. I was surprised to recently watch a new reaction to an old song ("a Crimpella") and he was making the synth sounds even back then. Also, we have quite a bit of 'synth' sounds in "Running Up That Hill" and their Shorts about the sounds of the Streaming Services.
VP does make use of some effects, so it might be enhanced. But they seem to be very upfront about it if the sound is not voice-generated. Examples being the 'shackle' in 'Hoist the Colors" and the 'Goat Scream' in "Bruno" where they told their Patrons. Until a Patron comes out and tells us that VP did not make those sounds, I will figure that they did. Even if it required a bit of 'help' in Post.
@@hwyla4416 I agree. My opinion is that it is still them just heavily processed, until VP themselves says otherwise. I just put that out there that someone else had offered a thought about it, but the more I have thought about it, the more I was thinking that VP doesn't use GarageBand as far as I'm aware.
Also, I love A Crimpella. 😁 They have always been so innovative.
Voiceplay released their new video on their patreon yesterday. It should be on RUclips soon.
Geoff Castelucci just posted his new video on his patreon Monday. He brought back tthe 4 Dwarves from Far Over The Misty Mountain Cold video. He will premiering it on RUclips June 9th.
You did a reaction to Golden hour and Anthony was a feature in there as well
Yeah not sure why I completely forgot lol
It happens lol
Pretty sure Anthony's name is pronounced "Garjoola". Isn't this just beyond words brilliant?
I knew I was wrong but wasn't sure how wrong 😅
Once again VoicePlay takes a song that shouldn't work as a cappella and just kills it. Anthony's last name is pronounced gar JOO lah.
Thank you for the shout out, yes it's an awesome bday present ♥ They do ruclips.net/video/18SEVo44jfQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/HRUV7FtTcK4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/_HS05kWmdbk/видео.html which is a small series you should them in that order
You saw Anthony in Golden Hour. His last name is pronounced "gar-JEWEL-lah". Layne did make all those noises, but all of the guys have multiple tracks overlayed at times. Yes, Warriors and Dream On were both post-apocalyptic, with the zombie hordes just out of camera range while the guys sing to save themselves. Between the first two, both Earl and J. None were lost to the zombies, and they picked up Cesar and Omar along the way. However, by this time, they've become the bad guys, so we're not 100% sure what happened to Omar... 😜 The techno sounds you're hearing are distorted vocals.
And somehow they managed to turn sweet Anthony into a bad ass! I can’t decide if it’s crazy Layne or scary Eli that did it.
@@janetdw it could be the constant struggle to survive that did it.
Laynes inhale bass catches a lot of reactors off gaurd, great reaction mate
Geoff quakes incoming!
I like your audio quality quite a lot, it's very seldom!
This is not one of my favorites. But I can see they are trying out new techniques. I find them interesting at least.
Did you not do the Golden Hour?
I did but failed to make the connection while recording 😵
Very infomrative reaction. Love this cover to bits, but actually can hardly stand the original -the singer's ´voice is getting onto my nerves. (Which never is the case with Voiceplay... and I hardly doubt it ever will be.)
Mixed bag… 😂
not a base guitar, just to be pedantic
Really? What is it? I just always assumed.
Love the song. You talk way too much. Tighten it up.
Talking too much!!!!
