It’s easier to slip comfortable orthotics in your existing shoes than to go buying new ones. Either option is primarily going to provide symptomatic relief until the PF heals by itself.
I agree, with painful feet, we can't and shouldn't have to 'break' the shoes in. I've donated shoes that I have worn once as they were too painful and these were the supposed 'comfortable' types. Good point with the socks as well. Swollen and wide feet are a problem and one foot slightly larger than the other, shoe shopping for me is a nightmare!
Hmmmm maybe I should let go the unfit dress shoes. Urghhhh they are expensive and beautiful orthotic shoes but since I have wide fleshy chubby feet I went a size bigger ended up the arch sole didn't support my arch which they should be =/
I suffered from plantar fasciitis for around 3 years. I tried stretching, night sprint and ice for around 2 years without much relief. After that, I tried a steroid injection as advised by a renowned doctor but after 6-month more intense pain returned. One of the doctors advised me to reduce weight and wear a “doctor extra soft slipper”. As I can’t wear slipper to the office, I bought a pair of gel nimbus as advice over the blogs. **And surprisingly, the pain was gone within 10 days of the use of gel nimbus and doctor slippers. **I just made sure to wear either the shoe or slippers and never walked barefooted. Gel nimbus 22 was expensive but worth each penny, but not sure about latest nimbus versions.
@@khanfauziya5719 there are multiple brand but I used asics gel nimbus 22. And it’s being 6 month since I have started wearing normal formal leather shoes without problem

Thank you for your informative video, but nothing else makes me more sad about my foot condition than being a woman with arch problems. Men can hide supportive shoes by wearing all-black runners. I wear a dress every day. Stylish, supportive shoes for women simply do not exist.
Its true! This is one of the reasons why I buy all black boys gym shoes. And I wear skirts and dresses all the time. I'll have to check out the Vionic shoes. My high heel days are over, I noticed most mens and boys shoes have better arch support for me, my right foot does rotate inward making shoes with no support lopsided in the heels.
There are 2 brands down here in Australia that are FANTASTIC and they ship internationally! Super stylish, and super supportive. Have a look at Bared Footwear and Frankie4. Both are designed by podiatrists and physios, have custom fitting options, are orthotic-friendly and very supportive (I have high arches, a history of fasciitis, and hallux limitus). Highly recommend! I work in advertising in a very young and trendy office, and certainly can't get away with wearing ugly runners.
I had pf for some time n didn’t know why.I went to Chinese medicine clinic, had one treatment per week for a month, changed the size of my trainers to 1/2 size bigger with arch support, now no further foot issues.👌
I think thermal treatment? I always hear those traditional Chinese medicine practitioner on TVs talking about blowing luke warm hair dryer on an old aching spots will get rid of the old injured muscle stiffness
Would really appreciate a more basketball-sneaker focused video on this. I typically have to ice my feet for the next day and a half if I get some good runs in. No bueno.
8:28 how the shoes look like underneath if you mountainbike using running shoes after few weeks. eventually there will be holes, so probably bad for you. So always use shoes intended for the purpose that are well made using correct materials, and fit is important.
Just bought some shoes that seemed comfy in the store and for a few days after, but now my foot really hurts after having felt better for a long time. Perhaps I need to try to rotate a few pairs and that will help.
I got pf from boots that were too narrow. I didn't know what pf was otherwise I might have avoided it. It didn't get better probably because I didn't know what to do. Eventually I took inserts and shimmed up the arch a large amount and it gave quite a bit of relief. Someone told me to roll the arch and that helped. Eventually it healed after many months.
Hi Bob & Brad. Great videos. Very informative and educational. Why the hesitation on telling us the brand on those “red shoes”. I noticed there’s more than one comment on the subject. I suffer from plantar fasciitis. My arch is about the same as Bob´s. I’d like to try those red shoes myself. Thank you both.
I probably don't have Plantar Fasciitis if you are mountainbiking, like I do getting shoes that fit the purpose is also a good idea, same for any other sport, don't play soccer in running shoes, don't mountainbike in running shoes. I wear shoes that have a lot of room for the toes, and are wide enough, so with these shoes I think if I had one longer foot it could work fine with same size shoe, just cus of the way the fit is and how I can tighten the laces to make them fit with summer socks, fit with two pair of wool socks. I use Five Ten Freerider shoes, very similar size to Adidas, which now actually owns five ten, same case with Adidas running shoes they fit great, and have a lot of room for the toes. So these shoes can fit variety of length of feet, which his great, but not all shoes are like this, some I would need a 45 or 46 or 48 or what ever to have enough width, but then shoes would have too much room everywhere else. the Freerider shoes are nice to walk in and ride in, but have a quite low sole, so not best to jump or run offroad or gravel with, but for riding with Catalyst pedals, they are excellent, I don't need a stiff sole, catalyst pedals give support for arch. I also remember Diadora had good fit too, I had soccer shoes. I got rid of al shoes that don't fit right.
Need a good recommendation of a general all purpose shoe for work. I’m very active and do a lot of physical labor on concrete , in the woods, on uneven ground and alot of driving. I have alot of side gigs which include chopping firewood by maul, carpentry and hunting guide work as well as hunting. I need shoes , steel toe boots and hunting boots. Do they make this stuff for plantar fasciitis sufferers? I’ve tried the inserts and they helped a bit but I need a better show with more ankle support. I have big calves and they’re about the same size as my thighs. My forearms are the same size as my biceps if that gives you an idea of my build. I need alot of ankle support as low heel shoes make my ankles ache pretty bad but my heels really hurt and burn . The knobby rubber roller things help with therapy but I think I’ll heal up better if I had some good heel and ankle support from the footwear instead of just inserts in my boots and shoes. I feel I need a real thick cushioned heel.
I have extremely wide feet and searched for years for ladies shoes wider that 2E or WW. Mt. Emey shoes from Apis go extremely wide! I'm not getting anything for sharing this but it might help someone. Nordstrom used to sell shoes to people with different sizes feet like right foot size 8 and left foot is size 9 for no additional charge, not sure if they still do.
I wonder what I should choose if I'm having tendonitis calcaneus talus? My right foot seems having mild fallen arch that making the tension pain in that spot
@@BobandBrad thanks for your response. Just want to make sure so these Whitin minimalist shoes would be ok to use if you have plantar fasciitis? Thank you

Maybe I might thinking of getting New Balance or Asics just like what Brad usually do. I remember I bought sport shoes from the sublabel of Bata, Power men running shoes just to fit my feet which hardly to find suitable shoes for my wide chubby fleshy feet whenever I tried to find one in my own gender section LOL

Hi guys...But before man had shoes or even early shoes there was no arch support...Would not walking with the foot in its natural position like barefoot be optimum?👍
versatec1 No. Man now daily walks on wood, concrete, and unnatural materials. If you are a shepherd or farmer and walk barefoot in dirt and grass, and don’t mind cuts and possible infection, then ok. Technology has affected us in many ways😉
I believe that we are not engaging the winless mechanism anymore which leads to many problems . This is because a high heel develops a heel strike and stops natural food movement. One would think you could get a shoe that has no heel drop but flexible and wide enough for the foot to still engage naturally and a natural forefoot strike
if you have had morton's neuroma surgery and shortening of the 3rd and 4th toe, leaving the 5th toe much longer resulting in constant inflammation of the joint, requiring a hard sole shoe (and planta fasciitis as a consequence) is there a shoe that would make walking bearable?
I was told I had the same problem and that surgery was required. I researched and found that by getting a shoe-New Balance with a larger toe cage, within 1 week the problem went away and never came back. That was 15 years ago.
I have mid to high arches and I over pronate. I got plantar fasciitis when I switched to neutral shoes and it went away 8 months later when I switched back to stability shoes. However I still get foot and ankle pains and injuries (including minor plantar fasciitis) with these shoes. I tried some arch supported inserts and that got rid of all of those foot and ankle pains and injuries. But when I did a speed workout in spikes (for the first time in a couple months) where I could not use my inserts and I got pretty bad posterior tibial tendonitis from it and I assume the inserts did the job for my posterior tibial tendon and it got weak. Does anyone have any ideas or potential solutions for me? I'm am out of ideas and don't know of maybe I need different shoes or do some exercises regularly or what.
How's it going now ? You could change your walking technique from a heel strike to a forefoot strike and learn to engage the winless mechanism which should keep your feet working in the natural way. Check out the channel Grown and Healthy
Barefoot and minimalist footwear can be great. But you have to be willing to do a lot of exercises to strengthen your feet. Check out Katy Bowman’s Whole Body Barefoot for some great suggestions on that. I have been minimalist for five years, and I made the transition specifically to get rid of my plantar fasciitis. No problems at all. But you really should transition to minimalist to avoid problems. And choose the correct cushioning for what you’re doing.
