The “Our car” scene is the reason Shax had to hitchhike instead of just teleporting into the car. Since he acknowledges it’s part Aziraphales car Shax has to be invited in, like the bookshop.
In episode 2, Shax teleported into the Bentley to talk to Crowley. Crowley had not invited her or given her permission, that I know of. So... unless anyone does know of when or whether Crowley ever invited her...? Or does she just have an automatic invite because she and Crowley are both minions of hell (if he is one anymore), in which case why would she need an invite from Aziraphale? Or is it that she needs an invite from whoever's in the car with Crowley's permission? (Argh, I'm going slightly mad)
I do kind of have to respect Crowley for putting his self-respect first before Heaven or Hell. He won't even cave in to the love of his life telling him they can be angels together. Even though it ended in heartbreak, I'm sort of proud of him for putting his foot down and refusing to go back to that toxic world.
The thing is, it WONT be so toxic now, or A can work on it. They may be in love, but A has ALWAYS been an Angel. He honestly believes he can help. Love doesn’t always conquer all. However, the charming premise of the show is that they’re on EARTH. I can’t wait for season 3, if they have one, but I seriously hope it’s not set in Heaven. That’d be a snooze fest. But, if they don’t have a season three, maybe they can release a new opening credit, in a short🙏

As a teacher I gotta say, if the system sucks, you can only make small changes to help the humans that have been entrusted to you, but you’re pretty helpless overturning a lot of shit that’s going wrong. I theorize that Azi is going to face a lot of difficult shit and he’s too pure to see the evil in the angels he’s going to have to lead. It’ll backfire somewhat spectacularly in some ways for sure.

I used to think Crowley had fallen for Aziraphale first. But now that we’ve seen how they first met, when they were both angels. I understand Aziraphale fell for Crowley first, but Crowley fell harder.
I absolutely adore the microexpressions of Sheen and Tennant that just absolutely sell their acting and make their faces a joy to watch. I have never seen someone act so realistic in a confession as Crowley did in the last episode.
Agreed - S1 when Crowley tells Azi "Your bookshop isnt there anymore - im *really sorry*, it burned down", its beautifully acted by Tennant. If you get bad news, you want him to give it to you.

I genuinely think it was Crowley's revenge on Aziraphel being right about Crowley not being as bad as he'd like to be. He slowly but surely made made Aziraphel "enough of a bastard to be worth knowing".

That's a pretty good detail to notice that Aziraphale follow's Crowley's gaze even when wearing sunglasses. I just loved noticing how Crowley was in the habit of instantly taking his glasses off when coming into the shop cause hes safe and doesnt have to hide with Aziraphale. All for my heart to be instantly broken the moment he put them on--and kept them on-- for the remainder of the final scenes. Even as hes FINALLY going in for that kiss he has his guard up because Aziraphale has breached his trust.
@@voicefromthedarkness4857 I dunno, Aziraphale has made a significant oops-daisicle this time, and let’s be real, even if Crowley doesn’t do the whole domineering instructions, Aziraphale will probably insist on doing the full performance. But Crowley can be assertive when need be, it all depends on if the time comes if it’s appropriate for him to do so (ie not in the middle of a fight)
In many comments, Aziraphale gets treated like some kind of traitor who drops Crowley like a hot potato as soon as he doesn't have a use for him anymore. Did these people actually watch the same final scenes? Azira's excitement as he tells Crowley they can both be angels again? Because he always remembers the first time they met up there, that's where their (love) story began, so he truly believes that this is the place for them to finally be happy together. The shock when Crowley turns away with a short "Good luck", and how he literally BEGS him to come back. Never did I hear anyone say "I need you!" in a more distressed tone, because he knows he's about to lose the most important person in his entire existence. The despair when Crowley doesn't answer kills me every time. Of course he was shocked when Crowley kissed him, he maybe was even scared to get his face bitten off instead. You have to remember, the last time he was grabbed by the collar like that, Crowley pushed him against a wall and almost through it because he was pissed by a single word ("nice"). But when Aziraphale realised what the situation was actually about, he gave himself to the moment. Unfortunately, Crowley stopped just then and after a brief moment, Aziraphale's protective mode snapped in, so he hurled the "I forgive you" at Crowley... For me, their story really looks like that of someone trying to get the love of his life out of an abusive relationship. Crowley's trying so hard to protect Aziraphale, while Aziraphale is constantly manipulated by his abusive "ex" (heaven and all...) who's telling him that things will get better this time because they were in anger management training. Okay, I'm completely heartbroken again, I'm off. 💔
Yeppp this is so true. And their relationship parallels with Nina and Maggie’s so well too. I wonder if just like Nina, Aziraphale will be kicked out of his toxic relationship? I can’t wait for season 3
You're so right, Aziraphale doesn't get the credit he deserves for trying so hard to make their relationship work as he thought was best. But also on the same time he kind of was wrong on reading Crowley's feelings that were so incompatible with his own image of the world/heaven/hell.
@@Elia2Ana of course, he is too oblivious about Crowley's feelings and Heaven and Hell in general. He's pretty naive believing he can really make a difference and he'll have to learn the hard way that the only Heaven is wherever Crowley is.
The problem is that Aziraphale agreed for the both of them without even *thinking* to consult Crowley about it first. Crowley, without his knowledge or consent, was signed up for a job he *didn't ask for* in a place that *violently kicked him out* several millennia ago just for asking questions, and only if he returns **as an angel** (which would alter Crowley on a such a fundamental level, it's quite possible he'd no longer even remotely resemble who he's been for the last 6,000 years) to work alongside all the other angels *who despise his very existence* It's hardly comparable to what Crowley was trying to say, essentially "both sides are toxic, let's continue to pick OUR side, and hey, maybe let's also stop pretending like we don't want to be together." I swear, the only reason Aziraphale STILL hasn't accepted the reality of Heaven being just as trash as Hell is because the show has one more season to go, so they can't allow him to come to his senses until they've raised the stakes as high as possible for the third and final act.

If I had a nickel for every time David Tennant’s character was cheated out of an “I love you” before an emotionally brutal departure from his loved one I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Crowley has never said I love you to Aziraphale either. In fact I feel the last scene would have been entirely different if he'd said that instead of going for that coercive kiss. Aziraphale might have responded to that in a completely different way

thank you for finally pointing out what ive been saying this whole time, AZIRAPHALE PUSHED INTO THE KISS AND COMPLETELY CONSIDERED GOING FULLY INTO IT. I feel like people are acting like Aziraphale pulled away immidiatley but the poor boy was just shocked at how much anger was put into the kiss and that is what causes him to say "I forgive you" instead of "I love you." He takes on others feelings so heavily showcased in the first season in which he can pick up on Adams love, he detected mass amounts of anger which scared the piss out of him. All in all coffee theory isnt real and theyre gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide.

If he hadn't wanted the kiss he wouldn't have tried grabbing Crowley's back either. There was a massive amount of internal struggle for Aziraphale in that kiss, mostly because of how these idiots thought the other wanted something different and couldn't have a coherent conversation. I don't think the coffee theory makes sense at all, character/writing wise, it feels unnecessarily convoluted.

Hear me out: I always thought of Aziraphale's reaction to the kiss as "did you just try to tempt me". Like, he doesn't hate being kissed by Crowley. Quite the opposite, it seems. But he panics because he's afraid this is a temptation and that's partly why he can't say "I love you". And the worst part is, he's right. The kiss is a temptation of sorts. A desperate, pleading one, but a temptation nonetheless.
I’m 7 months late but I enjoy this topic so here’s my take on it, I see it as Crowley testing to see if Az still has his same old views. He kissed him in a desperate way hoping Az wouldn’t see it as temptation. Then when Az said “I forgive you” He says don’t bother bc he’s already been shown where Az still stands on the whole “you’re a demon and I’m an angel” thing. But idk, just my take on things
For some reason I don't think Aziraphale has entirely forgiven Crowley from falling from heaven. He says it, but until he really means it, Crowley will be alone.
Actually Crowley has always been unable to reject any of Aziraphale's requests, ever. Not even one of them. In that regard, I think it has put Azi a little on the upper hand of their relationship. Because almost his every wish has been satisfied by Crowley but he, on the other hand, always makes the difficult one when Crowley asks him to do anything. The same pattern over and over, Azi asks, Crowley gives, and then - Crowley asks, Azi refutes, makes some scenes, and only when the end is near, he accepts.
Yeah, as much as I love the fun ideas that Aziraphale got up to some hedonistic fun with humans (shout out Oscar Wilde theories and the ‘discreet gentleman’s club’ he gavotted in), ultimately, it hurts more and makes more sense if that was both of their first kiss. Which means Aziraphale was like “gosh, this is on the table!!??? No wait, Crowley don’t leave- oh no…” Aziraphale now dealing with heaven’s nonsense, realizing Crowley was right about how awful it is, while also consumed with his new discovery of how fantastic kisses with Crowley might be if not channeled through anger. Like it makes sense the religious trauma but then again it felt like Gabriel was under control until love hit him. My personal theory is that because he’s always experienced love from Crowley if it’s true he’s being controlled, feeling of love might not work like how it did for Gabriel. Idk. But I really hope there’s a season 3
I actually hadn't got that the little stutter Az does at 13:45 is him starting to say "I love you", before he defaults back to "I forgive you". If you watch carefully, he does actually say all of "I love" just sort of stuttered and whispered. Ty for pointing that out, brilliant observation! Now I'm crying again.

you know what I can't wait to see? *_Obviously_* I want them to have a happy ending in the supposed S3 but I'm about to say something cruel... I can't wait to see the aftermath of that ending. I want to see what their lowest points look like, I've already seen what the fandom has conjured up for Crowley, one instance being her hair growing out very long due to being unable to look after himself because of depression. And then from there, I want to see how they adapt to their new circumstances, if they change at all. AND THEN I want to see them get together. When I say 'at her lowest' I'm thinking of Ed from OFMD kind of low, wrapped up in messy nightgowns, looking a little scruffy and being completely out of it. It sounds so cruel and I feel bad for wanting to see it, but I really do because I love seeing how far characters can stretch, and what they look like when pushed to the extreme. Poor Crowley, I do hope that at the end of it all, she'll get what she wanted. Aziraphale better be the one fighting for their relationship in the not-so-canon S3, Crowley needs the rest honestly.
I am right there with you! I want them to have a happy ending, but I would love to see how they do apart from each other after being virtually glued at the hip from literally day one
Unfortunately we know how Crowley will go down -- see post bookshop burn -- drinking ' I lost my best friend'. Unless he's so angry he can't even see straight. Azi will have job excitement -- until he realizes what he threw away -- and for what? Looking forward what Gaiman gives us & this marvelous pair of actors. I actually really love Aziraphale saying “no, I would actually love you to help me take care of him.” It’s honest communication, even after he said Crowley was free to leave. It’s so transparent & I love it. I wish they could keep that energy up for the two of them but alas.

Metatron was trying to break them up. That nasty glance at Crowley as he’s walking out of the bookshop with Azi, the rude way he says Crowley was always asking dumb questions. If “it” happens twice, it’s an institutional problem, right? If Crowley and Azi go off together, it will be a problem.
And actually, Metatron sort of did say to take a few days. He said “Take all the time you need.” And then promptly came back just after he saw Crowley leave.

I'm honestly desperate to see what Aziraphale's standing in heaven actually looks like once he's taken the job, because it feels to me like the offer of archangelship/Crowley's restoration may even have been meant, primarily, as a means to split them up, rather than the Metatron really wanting Aziraphale's particular input on the second coming.
Metatron knew Azira wants to go back to heaven and do good, and also knew Crowley didn't, them being a real couple were a problem so he needed them to break up (love, friendship, any alliance they had) and that was the perfect way to do it 🥹😭
I read the other day that Azi says breaths out "no" when Crowley is putting their glasses back on (because Azi knows what it means for Crowley to wear them). And now I can't unsee it

the scene when azira and gabriel/jim meet again is so underrated. when gabriel says “when you know everything would be better if you were just around one particular person?” and he just has a small soft smile then immediately starts denying it all flustered literally kills me 🥲 i think it’s just such an underrated scene

I LOVE THIS!!! Not only is it my favourite ineffable husbands, but also i completely agree with some of the side comments, like how he pushed into the kiss. Aziraphale didn't know what to do when Crowley kissed him so i assume he reverted to being good or whatever and said "i forgive you," instead of "i love you", but he wasnt disgusted by the kiss. He didn't push Crowley away immediately, he tried to grab his back and leant into him 😭😭😭😭 That's why i don't believe the coffee theory
@@IrisGlowingBlue oh, the coffee theory is about when the Metatron hands Azi a coffee and we hear what could be a miracle sound in the background. People think it meant Azi didn't act on himself and was affected by Metatron. I don't really believe this, although I would love it as an excuse to not cry a ton whenever I watch the scene lol. This made me realize that Crowley never tries to convince Aziraphale he's doing something fully bad. He'll say "oh just bend the rules a bit, you've done that before" but Aziraphale is always telling Crowley how good he is deep down. The finale makes a lot of sense realizing that Aziraphale appreciates Crowley as he is, but has always wanted him to go back to being an angel. That way he could have these feelings for him without the shame. He's less yielding that Crowley, who does reciprocate by participating in the ballroom dance, but Aziraphale ultimately rejects Crowley's kiss by not participating like they both want him to.
The last minutes of the season was a rollercoaster. I was hopeful, then sad, then a little confused, then i screamed at the top of my lungs with a mixture of shock and joy, then confused again, then sad again, and lastly i started balling my eyes out.
Me too I like speed etched this series in a week the first time I watched it, and that week was insane, I got so invested in the characters and their relationship, and that ending to the series broke me in two, gaffs taped me up, then sliced me the other way. I then sobbed at night for the following week
I love how many scenes we got this season of Aziraphale just admiring Crowley, like its made so obvious that Aziraphale adores Crowley. Aziraphale wasn't even interested in going back to heaven till he was told he could have Crowley by his side there, which make the final scene so devastating cuz his main motivator to going back to heaven was to be with Crowley and in his mind restore Crowley to time when he was happy but he ended up losing him completely.
Although i get why people are more inclined to blame aziraphale and thinking he was the one who rejected and broke crowley's heart, i do think it is bit inflated; they both are making themselves miserable due to their own action - not communicating with each other. They both need to sort out a lot of their feelings and misconceptions - crowley has deep distrust towards heaven (justifiably so) and aziraphale still wants to believe heaven as system is perfect and good and they both could make a remarkable difference if they are in charge with all the knowledge accumulated. However, they still have to learn a lot about humanity as we can see how they try to push nina and maggie, even if it was due to good intentions. Frankly, what both of them need is a little bit space to learn alone and also a crash course to How Communicate Properly with your Partner
Thank you for mentioning Aziraphale’s faith in Heaven as a system. I think him choosing a position of power where they could change things for good is totally in character. Like, it wouldn’t have been him if he chose not to go with the Metatron’s offer.

The slander against Aziraphale is a bit annoying tbh. While i do think hes a bit of an idiot, they are both being idiots for not talking about this rationally. Aziraphale wasn't disgusted or upset by the kiss. He liked it, even wanted to reciprocate, but I think either he got too into his own head about heaven not liking an angel kissing a demon. OR Crowleys kiss could have been filled with so much emotion that it essentially overpowered him. Either way, he obviously wanted it, but the way it all happened was just not ideal I'd say. These two just need to EXPLAIN their feelings better. Ineffable husbands, more like ineffable idiots. Lol. Story wise though, its is gorgeous. Neil absolutely outdid himself!! Also, i don't believe the coffee theory, but Metraton can still get outta here.

I'm not mad at him because of the kiss, I'm mad because he wants Crowley to change himself for him. To be an angel again. He's never gotten over the angel Crowley used to be. He refuses to look at Crowley's perspective until he gets hit over the head with it and he accepted Metatron's offer without talking to Crowley about it while expecting him to be overjoyed about it. It's like he's purposely pushed all of Crowley's criticisms about the angels in a shedder in the back of his mind. So, no I'm not mad about the kiss. I'm mad about how he doesn't care about Crowley's feelings.
So many delicate, light touch moments that show their feelings for each other. Beautifully written by Neil and masterfully played by David and Michael. A masterclass on how to take out someone's heart and stomp all over it... I can't...
OH YES FINALLY I haven’t seen really anyone talk about the scene at 7:58 which is insane bc the look Aziraphale gives Crowley after he hypes him up gives me goosebumps every time. That is the look of someone who is absolutely DEEP in love

Aziraphale is an angel and he is hopeful. He truly believes he can make a difference with more assigned powers and give Crowley a better opportunity to be himself while not having to be cautious of hell anymore. He sees Crowley as kind and angelic enough. Also they're a good team and obviously he loves Crowley. But he is naïve and doesn't think his authority will have some responsibilities that will put him in an uncomfortable situation. Crowley can see that but he can't hold Aziraphale back because he tried everything he could even desperately kissing him to hold him down with him but Aziraphale is flying back up. They are both valid for following their paths but ultimately they shall meet again 😊 I'm so excited for s3 ❤❤❤
14:55 I believe you just spoke for the entire fandom there xD I litterally yelled at my screen when the credits started rolling, and hoped and waited for a little teasing snippet of hope at the end, but nope. T^T
Maybe other people have thought of this too but I haven't seen anyone else say it: I think that there was an underlying threat posed by the metatron in the offer to Aziraphale and that THAT was a major reason for their choice as well as. First of all there's the motif of the ultimatum “coffee or death” and for some reason-that juxtaposes the usual ‘don’t compromise holiness with material usage’-the first thing the metatron did was go to the coffee shop. Here he remarked on the fact that no one ever chooses the bad option when they are so distracted by their desire for the preferred option. He decided to adopt this method of manipulation in his approach to Aziraphale without exactly adding the choice of ‘death’; he seemed careful to avoid losing Az’s trust by suggesting a serious sanction (which as seen in s1 only pushesd Az away from heaven and it’s clutches). Aziraphale fell for the trap and naturally leapt at the chance to be with Crowley, give Crowley the protection from hell and give Crowley a life they think can make them as happy as when two first met. They were shocked when they realised that Crowley is determined they would never be happy as an angel again (that's of course another topic) and its only then that they realised they never secured another option-and the metatron gave no indication that he would allow one. Az only knew that A) the metatron is the voice of god and so his saying that Az was the “only one for the job” was a distinct will of god and so to go against it would defy heaven (which they are still holding onto as something they won’t do), and B) if they became rejected because of that then they couldn’t prevent the ‘second culling’ or receive and offer protection (from heaven or otherwise) to Crowley. Aziraphale is doing everything they can to protect Crowley 😭
I love this so much. The end of this season was so not what I expected... and now they are saying that there may not be a filmed season 3 due to the strike! UGH! It can't end this way for Crowley and Aziraphale! Neill Gaimon said that if that happened he would write the next part into a novel.... but so not the same! Thank you for this video.

Correction: Aziraphale nearly says "I can't" before he says "I forgive you". He wants to but he CAN'T, or at least he believes he can't because religious trauma.

In episode 2, Shax teleported into the Bentley to talk to Crowley. Crowley had not invited her or given her permission, that I know of. So... unless anyone does know of when or whether Crowley ever invited her...? Or does she just have an automatic invite because she and Crowley are both minions of hell (if he is one anymore), in which case why would she need an invite from Aziraphale? Or is it that she needs an invite from whoever's in the car with Crowley's permission? (Argh, I'm going slightly mad)
I'm pretty sure invites are only needed for Angel spaces. Since Crowley's a demon it doesn't apply to him @@TLC62
I do kind of have to respect Crowley for putting his self-respect first before Heaven or Hell. He won't even cave in to the love of his life telling him they can be angels together. Even though it ended in heartbreak, I'm sort of proud of him for putting his foot down and refusing to go back to that toxic world.
The thing is, it WONT be so toxic now, or A can work on it. They may be in love, but A has ALWAYS been an Angel. He honestly believes he can help. Love doesn’t always conquer all. However, the charming premise of the show is that they’re on EARTH. I can’t wait for season 3, if they have one, but I seriously hope it’s not set in Heaven. That’d be a snooze fest. But, if they don’t have a season three, maybe they can release a new opening credit, in a short🙏

As a teacher I gotta say, if the system sucks, you can only make small changes to help the humans that have been entrusted to you, but you’re pretty helpless overturning a lot of shit that’s going wrong. I just loved noticing how Crowley was in the habit of instantly taking his glasses off when coming into the shop cause hes safe and doesnt have to hide with Aziraphale. All for my heart to be instantly broken the moment he put them on--and kept them on-- for the remainder of the final scenes. Even as hes FINALLY going in for that kiss he has his guard up because Aziraphale has breached his trust.

In many comments, Aziraphale gets treated like some kind of traitor who drops Crowley like a hot potato as soon as he doesn't have a use for him anymore. Did these people actually watch the same final scenes? Azira's excitement as he tells Crowley they can both be angels again? Because he always remembers the first time they met up there, that's where their (love) story began, so he truly believes that this is the place for them to finally be happy together. The shock when Crowley turns away with a short "Good luck", and how he literally BEGS him to come back. Never did I hear anyone say "I need you!" in a more distressed tone, because he knows he's about to lose the most important person in his entire existence. The despair when Crowley doesn't answer kills me every time.
Of course he was shocked when Crowley kissed him, he maybe was even scared to get his face bitten off instead. You have to remember, the last time he was grabbed by the collar like that, Crowley pushed him against a wall and almost through it because he was pissed by a single word ("nice"). But when Aziraphale realised what the situation was actually about, he gave himself to the moment. Unfortunately, Crowley stopped just then and after a brief moment, Aziraphale's protective mode snapped in, so he hurled the "I forgive you" at Crowley...
For me, their story really looks like that of someone trying to get the love of his life out of an abusive relationship. Crowley's trying so hard to protect Aziraphale, while Aziraphale is constantly manipulated by his abusive "ex" (heaven and all...) who's telling him that things will get better this time because they were in anger management training.
Okay, I'm completely heartbroken again, I'm off. 💔

You're so right, Aziraphale doesn't get the credit he deserves for trying so hard to make their relationship work as he thought was best. But also on the same time he kind of was wrong on reading Crowley's feelings that were so incompatible with his own image of the world/heaven/hell.

Crowley, without his knowledge or consent, was signed up for a job he *didn't ask for* in a place that *violently kicked him out* several millennia ago just for asking questions, and only if he returns **as an angel** (which would alter Crowley on a such a fundamental level, it's quite possible he'd no longer even remotely resemble who he's been for the last 6,000 years) to work alongside all the other angels *who despise his very existence*
It's hardly comparable to what Crowley was trying to say, essentially "both sides are toxic, let's continue to pick OUR side, and hey, maybe let's also stop pretending like we don't want to be together."
I swear, the only reason Aziraphale STILL hasn't accepted the reality of Heaven being just as trash as Hell is because the show has one more season to go, so they can't allow him to come to his senses until they've raised the stakes as high as possible for the third and final act.

thank you for finally pointing out what ive been saying this whole time, AZIRAPHALE PUSHED INTO THE KISS AND COMPLETELY CONSIDERED GOING FULLY INTO IT. I feel like people are acting like Aziraphale pulled away immidiatley but the poor boy was just shocked at how much anger was put into the kiss and that is what causes him to say "I forgive you" instead of "I love you." He takes on others feelings so heavily showcased in the first season in which he can pick up on Adams love, he detected mass amounts of anger which scared the piss out of him. All in all coffee theory isnt real and theyre gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide.

If he hadn't wanted the kiss he wouldn't have tried grabbing Crowley's back either. There was a massive amount of internal struggle for Aziraphale in that kiss, mostly because of how these idiots thought the other wanted something different and couldn't have a coherent conversation. I don't think the coffee theory makes sense at all, character/writing wise, it feels unnecessarily convoluted.

Hear me out: I always thought of Aziraphale's reaction to the kiss as "did you just try to tempt me". Like, he doesn't hate being kissed by Crowley. Quite the opposite, it seems. But he panics because he's afraid this is a temptation and that's partly why he can't say "I love you". And the worst part is, he's right. The kiss is a temptation of sorts. A desperate, pleading one, but a temptation nonetheless.
I’m 7 months late but I enjoy this topic so here’s my take on it, I see it as Crowley testing to see if Az still has his same old views. He kissed him in a desperate way hoping Az wouldn’t see it as temptation. Then when Az said “I forgive you” He says don’t bother bc he’s already been shown where Az still stands on the whole “you’re a demon and I’m an angel” thing. But idk, just my take on things
For some reason I don't think Aziraphale has entirely forgiven Crowley from falling from heaven. He says it, but until he really means it, Crowley will be alone.

Actually Crowley has always been unable to reject any of Aziraphale's requests, ever. Not even one of them. In that regard, I think it has put Azi a little on the upper hand of their relationship. Because almost his every wish has been satisfied by Crowley but he, on the other hand, always makes the difficult one when Crowley asks him to do anything. The same pattern over and over, Azi asks, Crowley gives, and then - Crowley asks, Azi refutes, makes some scenes, and only when the end is near, he accepts.

I want to see what their lowest points look like, I've already seen what the fandom has conjured up for Crowley, one instance being her hair growing out very long due to being unable to look after himself because of depression. And then from there, I want to see how they adapt to their new circumstances, if they change at all. AND THEN I want to see them get together. When I say 'at her lowest' I'm thinking of Ed from OFMD kind of low, wrapped up in messy nightgowns, looking a little scruffy and being completely out of it. It sounds so cruel and I feel bad for wanting to see it, but I really do because I love seeing how far characters can stretch, and what they look like when pushed to the extreme. Poor Crowley, I do hope that at the end of it all, she'll get what she wanted. Aziraphale better be the one fighting for their relationship in the not-so-canon S3, Crowley needs the rest honestly.

And actually, Metatron sort of did say to take a few days. He said “Take all the time you need.” And then promptly came back just after he saw Crowley leave.

People think it meant Azi didn't act on himself and was affected by Metatron. I don't really believe this, although I would love it as an excuse to not cry a ton whenever I watch the scene lol. He'll say "oh just bend the rules a bit, you've done that before" but Aziraphale is always telling Crowley how good he is deep down. The finale makes a lot of sense realizing that Aziraphale appreciates Crowley as he is, but has always wanted him to go back to being an angel. That way he could have these feelings for him without the shame. He's less yielding that Crowley, who does reciprocate by participating in the ballroom dance, but Aziraphale ultimately rejects Crowley's kiss by not participating like they both want him to.
Kind of hard to voluntarily "participate" in a kiss that's forced on you.

I like speed etched this series in a week the first time I watched it, and that week was insane, I got so invested in the characters and their relationship, and that ending to the series broke me in two, gaffs taped me up, then sliced me the other way.

I love how many scenes we got this season of Aziraphale just admiring Crowley, like its made so obvious that Aziraphale adores Crowley. Aziraphale wasn't even interested in going back to heaven till he was told he could have Crowley by his side there, which make the final scene so devastating cuz his main motivator to going back to heaven was to be with Crowley and in his mind restore Crowley to time when he was happy but he ended up losing him completely.
I am convinced the term "marriage" was first created to describe whatever these two have going on.

Although i get why people are more inclined to blame aziraphale and thinking he was the one who rejected and broke crowley's heart, i do think it is bit inflated; they both are making themselves miserable due to their own action - not communicating with each other. They both need to sort out a lot of their feelings and misconceptions - crowley has deep distrust towards heaven (justifiably so) and aziraphale still wants to believe heaven as system is perfect and good and they both could make a remarkable difference if they are in charge with all the knowledge accumulated. However, they still have to learn a lot about humanity as we can see how they try to push nina and maggie, even if it was due to good intentions. Frankly, what both of them need is a little bit space to learn alone and also a crash course to How Communicate Properly with your Partner

Thank you for mentioning Aziraphale’s faith in Heaven as a system. I think him choosing a position of power where they could change things for good is totally in character. Like, it wouldn’t have been him if he chose not to go with the Metatron’s offer.

The slander against Aziraphale is a bit annoying tbh. While i do think hes a bit of an idiot, they are both being idiots for not talking about this rationally. Aziraphale wasn't disgusted or upset by the kiss. He liked it, even wanted to reciprocate, but I think either he got too into his own head about heaven not liking an angel kissing a demon. OR Crowleys kiss could have been filled with so much emotion that it essentially overpowered him. Either way, he obviously wanted it, but the way it all happened was just not ideal I'd say. These two just need to EXPLAIN their feelings better. Ineffable husbands, more like ineffable idiots. Lol. Story wise though, its is gorgeous. Neil absolutely outdid himself!!
Also, i don't believe the coffee theory, but Metraton can still get outta here.
Metathron said to Nina just a drop of almond. But to Aziraphale it sounded like a big amount of almond in it. Maybe a clue for the poison, I don't know it's name in English

I'm not mad at him because of the kiss, I'm mad because he wants Crowley to change himself for him. To be an angel again. He's never gotten over the angel Crowley used to be. He refuses to look at Crowley's perspective until he gets hit over the head with it and he accepted Metatron's offer without talking to Crowley about it while expecting him to be overjoyed about it. It's like he's purposely pushed all of Crowley's criticisms about the angels in a shedder in the back of his mind. So, no I'm not mad about the kiss. I'm mad about how he doesn't care about Crowley's feelings.

Aziraphale is an angel and he is hopeful. He truly believes he can make a difference with more assigned powers and give Crowley a better opportunity to be himself while not having to be cautious of hell anymore. He sees Crowley as kind and angelic enough. Also they're a good team and obviously he loves Crowley.
But he is naïve and doesn't think his authority will have some responsibilities that will put him in an uncomfortable situation. Crowley can see that but he can't hold Aziraphale back because he tried everything he could even desperately kissing him to hold him down with him but Aziraphale is flying back up. They are both valid for following their paths but ultimately they shall meet again 😊

Maybe other people have thought of this too but I haven't seen anyone else say it: I think that there was an underlying threat posed by the metatron in the offer to Aziraphale and that THAT was a major reason for their choice as well as.
First of all there's the motif of the ultimatum “coffee or death” and for some reason-that juxtaposes the usual ‘don’t compromise holiness with material usage’-the first thing the metatron did was go to the coffee shop. Here he remarked on the fact that no one ever chooses the bad option when they are so distracted by their desire for the preferred option. He decided to adopt this method of manipulation in his approach to Aziraphale without exactly adding the choice of ‘death’; he seemed careful to avoid losing Az’s trust by suggesting a serious sanction (which as seen in s1 only pushesd Az away from heaven and it’s clutches).
Aziraphale fell for the trap and naturally leapt at the chance to be with Crowley, give Crowley the protection from hell and give Crowley a life they think can make them as happy as when two first met. They were shocked when they realised that Crowley is determined they would never be happy as an angel again (that's of course another topic) and its only then that they realised they never secured another option-and the metatron gave no indication that he would allow one.
Az only knew that A) the metatron is the voice of god and so his saying that Az was the “only one for the job” was a distinct will of god and so to go against it would defy heaven (which they are still holding onto as something they won’t do), and B) if they became rejected because of that then they couldn’t prevent the ‘second culling’ or receive and offer protection (from heaven or otherwise) to Crowley.
Aziraphale is doing everything they can to protect Crowley 😭
I love them both! I love Crowley more, he is so sytilish and funny, but I also love Aziraphale! So sweet!
