In France the police are armed in the UK only armed police units/ officers are armed with guns regular police is not . That’s one of the reasons there are so many robberies and crime there. Plus the legal,system there is a bit soft on crime in general in my opinion , especially robbery and armed robbery . You would be foolish to wear an expensive watch in London unless it’s insured and you live in an upscale neighbourhood and drive . Still you run the risk of being robbed and potentially hurt, so not worth it in my opinion . Wear a nice watch without it being too flashy or expensive .If you are walking around with a 20k, 30k, 50k or more watch on your wrist it can attract trouble in most parts of the world .

I have friends in LA, NYC, and London who no longer wear their Rolex watches in public. There have been too many robberies. Robberies of Rolex ADs are also on the rise.

20 years ago i brought a 170 grams diamond cut gold chain..i remember walking in new cross London and seeing a car do a u turn and pulled up beside me..two guys jumped out and demanded for me to take off my chain...i laughed and being 6ft 6 and 2nd dan in aikido i got into my stance.the guys looked at one another and got bk into there car..i must admit wearing that chain put me in situation alot of time temptation was there for people so i sold the chain a few years later..imagine the value of it now? I paid 100 pounds then probably worth about 8 thousand now.

Was in London a week ago. Wore a moonswatch. Real shame as used to love wearing my top watches to nice places but now it’s just not sensible. Same when i go to the barbers, takeaways etc. i recently said to my Mrs, i spend more time taking my watches off than putting them on these days. At least crime isnt an issue in Dubai

Im from Uk and i think that probably 60% of UK riders are not legal to ride in Thailand! in uk you can only ride a 50cc until passed CBT, then after only up to a 125cc on L plates, then on to full licence within 2 years depending on age....a CAR license is NOT a bike licence!! and most rentals are 150-155cc and unless you specifically tell your travel insurer its 150+ cc you are not covered! but if you do not hold a UK bike license you will not be covered in any case!! Hire shops should be more careful when renting out bikes..........
