George you are the best, past or present public speaker in Britain by far and that includes Churchill and I think morally you are unmatched. Thank you and keep moving forward until victory.
Tony Benn will always be remembered as a man of principle and integrity. He was a champion of the poor and the working class. One day we will live up to his ideals because he has certainly touched a whole generation of people who yearn for an ever more just world.
He was a man with principles who was in politics because he believed in doing good deeds. He never sought status and fortune, and he only accepted power as a means to a noble ends. RIP Tony Benn

I can't believe that George Galloway did not go to university. This man routinely makes mincemeat of Oxbridge educated journalists and politicians. What a great inspiration for autodidactics the world over.
Wonderful words befitting a real leader George Galloway. Tony Benn will indeed be missed by many around the World. He was the definition of hope and a leader to look up to in a world under siege by his our common enemy. God speed Mr Benn.
Tony Benn, was the minister for the Industrial Reorganisation commission under the Wilson government 1966 - 1970, he spend millions of tax payers money on forcing companies to merge, such as Leyland motor corporation and British motor holdings. Other companies were forced to merge such as the formation of international computers limited. These companies developed poor management, and slowly fell apart. Not only were mergers forced but there was also a huge amount of asset stripping, that disenfranchised much of British industry. In the space of 4 years Tony Benn had done enough damage to British industry to see many companies fail and many collapse at the expense of hundreds of thousands of job over the following 2 decades. This is the reason why British industry fell apart in the late 60s and 70s... Yet he had the cheek to blame the decline in British industry on Thatcher! He never apologised for his actions and conveniently ignored any responsibility... He was a terrible irresponsible individual! Try reading a little bit about the Industrial Reorganisation Corporation. books.google.co.uk/books?id=ctBGh_HyHxcC&pg=PA72&dq=industrial+reorganisation+corporation&hl=en&sa=X&ei=4JYFU7P4OcWGhQeAzoE4&ved=0CD0Q6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=industrial%20reorganisation%20corporation&f=false
bighands69 Thatcher destroyed whole communities and lowered the aspirations of the working class.Thatcher was pure evil. We had a good party when the old witch died though....pity she was ever born.
suburbenyobbo you make good points and you may also concede the era you refer to heralded consolidation in the steel and auto sectors in the West and the list of other British companies since which have also collapsed due to market forces and more likely management inertia is lengthy. I too like to blame politicians and normally start by calling for Tony Blair to be charged with treason; I'd Neal Kinnock to a list for incompetence and for lacking guts to fight for others
Doesn't old Boyo from the families work non stop for his families enrichment? Not selfish at all or something. Didn't he fight corruption in Europe? Sorry, I'm wrong again, he sacked the woman that was. But he did err.. Regards.
Well said George. At the end of the day? you cant argue against facts. You cant argue against truth and Tony Benn 'always' spoke the truth and always backed up whatever he said with facts. I can remember seeing Mr.Benn on the telly, talking to people in the street. 1 man came up to Tony and asked him a question on some matter. Tony replied and asked the man what he did for a living. The man, almost with an apologetic tone, replied stating that he was 'just' a bus driver. Mr.Benn looked at him and said, quite sincerely,' why do you apologize? thats an honest and important job so please, dont, be proud of it. I can also remember Tony in a discussion about pay. He asked, 'what is more important! the cleaner who works in a hospital or the doctor?'. Naturally the reply came back 'the doctor because he's studied for years etc. Tony said, no! they are equally important because if you did'nt have the people to clean the hospitals? where would that leave the doctors?'. Its not a matter of the doctor not deserving the salary he receives or commands! The point Tony was attempting to get across was, the fact that the cleaner's role in the big picture was of equal importance and therefore deserving a wage that would entitle that very same cleaner, a decent and acceptable standard of living. THIS is what Tony Benn was all about. George is right when he says that it is highly unlikely that this kind of warrior for the working class people, not only on the UK but around the world over, will ever be seen again, certainly not in my lifetime anyways. Tony Benn was not only a great politician. He was a warm, kind hearted, beautiful 'human being' and that is a very, very rare thing, especially in todays society. Thanks for your magnificent tribute George.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and deep insights Mr. Galloway. Very much appreciated. I do feel sorry for the generations that will never know statesmen and parliamentarians such as Mr. Benn in full flow. My thoughts are with his family, yourself and all those closest to him. Thank you again.

Really? Tony Benn supported the Leyland workers under Red Robbo, who was a trouble causer and a shirker. The Leyland workers had good pay and conditions but they were greedy. What was the result? The death of Leyland.
Earth 2 he always supported workers against the big moneyed interests of capital. He wanted them to share more in the fruits of their Labour. Sorry if that upsets you.
Great Eulogy George. I met Mr Tony Benn at a stop the war march 2003 Trafalgar Square, Myself and a number of comrades came down from York as part of a contingent from the newly formed Socialist Labour party. Mr Benn saw our placard from York and just said a few warm words. His speeches have always amazed and inspired me. He will be sorely missed. However, we must always remember that the power within us is greater than any fear before us.
"All we have to fear is fear itself " Franklin Delano roosevelt. Your words mirror the greatest American president of the 20th century. Your so right thanks. And many thanks to whoever gave this country Tony Benn. Just sorry many did not see his merit and vote for him in his heyday.
A very humble man - I remember seeing him in the street outside Houses of Parliament about 10 years ago, some Japanese tourists asked if HE would take THEIR family photo and he was more than happy to stand there for a few minutes helping them out.
***** I think Bob Marshall Andrews put it very well when he said there are 2 types of MP (with a few exceptions), those who wish to achieve power and those that wish to control power. Tony Benn was a great man, for the people. a wonderful orator, a magnificent thinker and scholar. Sadly missed George. He was all those things and more George. I was 22 in 1981 and supported him, I can across this witness/eulogy on utube today (27/10/22)....Oh how we need such a visionary for this time!
I was lucky enough to hear Tony Benn , at Llandudno “Venue Camry” the only thing on the stage was a Fire Extinguisher and a Flask of Tea!!!!! he was superb, he had my Dads Values, honestly, Integrity, in short, these values were NOT for sale. A true, lifetime Socialist.
He died in his bed, with his family around him. Not bumped off like Hugh Gaitskell or Robin Cook or John Smith or Chavez or JFK or RFK or multitudes of others who are foolish enough to upset the greater order of things. A fine tribute to a great man.
The wealthy privileged elite were terrified of losing their unearned wealth and power ,so since the overthrow of the Russian monarchy ,they have mounted expeditions against Russia during the civil war and war of intervention 1920 .Millions of peasants and workers were executed ,but the Soviets (workers councils) seen them off .War of nonstop propaganda continued ,pausing only during WW2 .Then resuming with renewed fury after the Red Army destroyed the Nazis and saved the European bourgeoisie inc. Churchill & co.from the gas ovens .If the Nazis had defeated USSR ,Hitlers legions who had swept through Europe practically unopposed ,would have taken more than just the Channel Islands .
bighands69 Thatcher destroyed whole communities. Thatcher acted in the interests of the rich and powerful. Thatcher lowered the aspirations of the working class, the evidence is all around us today. The rich are getting richer, the poor poorer. At least she gave us a good party when she died.....pity she ever lived really.

Barbarossa,! General told Hitler to leave the UK for dessert ,they hoped to have Russia before winter set in, the north .We fought 10 Divs of Africa Corps ,mainly ITALIAN TROOPS ,would you believe trying to save a colony . ,USSR were facing over 200 Divs, MOST Brtits did not see a German till D.Day June 1944..A lot of them were elderly Ukrainian Fascist .like the ones that overthrew the elected Ukrainian Government and put fear into many many people in the Crimea.Funny old world .Isn't it ?
Tony Benn RIP. I didn't always agree with your views, but you were a true statesman & gentlemen who stood for what you believed in, unlike the 'PR Spin Politicians' of today who change their views as often as their socks. Mr. Galloway I respect you too for the same reason. I don't always agree with what you say, but boy, you say it well and actually mean it!
Great tribute there from George Galloway...for me Tony Benn was the last of the great Labour politicians. I heard him speak once at a public meeting in Edinburgh in the mid 1980's and was mesmerised by him
So much repect for Tony Benn. He was the embodiment of Integrity, decency & Compassion..As a Socialist with Spiritual leanings he knew that all the worlds religious & spiritual traditions emphasised kindness, love, tolerance & social justice..Serving & advocating for the poor & oppressed was the greatest service one could do for the God of one's understanding- Tony had the deep Wisdom to know & carry out this calling tirelessly & with the utmost empathy for those "on the margins"- Rip Tony faithful servant of Humanity & The Father of All🙏💐
Oh for heavens sake , are you for real ? If benn had had his way we would all be on the bones of our arses by now. If you want to see how things would have worked out under Tony Benn just look no further than East Germany b4 the wall came down. " unique social vision and political acumen " ........ My arse mate
A sad day George but tomorrow I will awake with renewed strength after reading about and watching, through media, the great man today. As always when the great go the realisation of their passing is hard to take, tears have been shed, but to carry on and take his thoughts and ideals onwards would be to his pleasing, thats my plan!!!
George Galloway eloquently expresses the feelings of many of us who knew Tony Benn personally. Tony Benn personally inspired me to return to the USA to fight against the rapid and dangerous encroachment of neoconservatism. Every day, I celebrate Tony Benn's genius as we stagger forward fighting against war, poverty, privilege and prejudice.
Me and my dad went to hear him speak in York, he was becoming phys frail, but he spoke with such truth and power. We felt lifted after hearing him. A true patriot, with none of the Nationalist nonsense. I hope god has the sense to ask him for advice 😊
Terrific words. Well spoken with immense love and respect. And great history lesson. So educational to hear this. I agree with all except NATO. But that maybe I need to find out more on that subject and look at it again. RIP Tony Benn. His son NOT a chip off the old block.
I was fortunate enough to meet Mr Benn in Finsbury Park in 1995. I was a uniformed police officer. We were walking in the same direction so we had a very interesting chat for 10 minutes as we walked along. There’s no politicians of his calibre today.
Dear George, Thank you for your heartfelt tribute to the beloved Tony Benn. I listened with pleasure to your anecdotes and am grateful for your contribution toward the liberation of the people from the hands of the corporocrats who dominate our political process. Can I offer a word of advice reg your reference to TB as being 'a prince among men.' I believe the use of that word is to unintentionally do the man a disservice. TB was a politician. In Machiavelli's book, 'The Prince' he offers advice to elites/politicians who desire to acquire power above all else, i.e, above moral principles. TB was absolutely opposed to that form of politic. He practiced telling Truth to Power and he told the Truth to The People. He was not a 'prince among men' He was a Man of The People. A Democrat in the true sense of the word. We understand your use of the word 'prince' in the context you have used it ~ but words are important ~ words can cause confusion if not used carefully and correctly ~ like the words used below by the enemies of the people who like to advertise their ignorance of reality. Best Regards, X
Tony Been He was ONE of the greatest Most Honest politician that ever existed on Planet earth very possibly the Best, he should a been the world's president for life, But George in a world full of corruption n lies there Is no room for an Honest man like Tony Been, we lost the world lost
A great man the likes of which will not return. A defender of people like me: the common man, a defender of civil rights and liberties, a powerful intellect, a great orator. The labour movement and indeed the parliamentary scene is far, far poorer today.
Explain please. Tell us how Tony Benn destroyed millions of jobs. I want evidence, references and citations, otherwise your comment is as ignorant as your making it.
john howe Tony Benn, Dennis Skinner, George Galloway, Barbara Castle etc were as we all know part of old Labour. This is why the party that we now know as new Labour was created, because old Labour would NEVER have been elected with any of these people (dinosaurs). The majority of the British electorate did NOT agree with Tony Benn.
Whether the majority agreed with Tony Benn or not they can not deny he spoke the truth as he saw it. That is something that none of today's politicos would ever do. They just spin, and spin and lie. Benn had more integrity than that. The real problem with old labour were not the elected representatives (who were often highly educated thinkers) but some of the unions. I would rather have lived under a Benn government than MacMillan, Heath and certainly not a Thatcher one.
Earth 2 Do not include Barbara Castle, who was right wing Labour, in a list of lefties. Shows how much you know about politics. New Labour was a right wing hijack of the Labour Party, interested solely in continuing the capitalist agenda. Miliband and his crew now distance themselves fron the tag because it is linked to Blair, the war criminal and multi millionaire, who had not an ounce of Socialist thought in his body but who, like all right wing, ambitious Labour politicians, use the Party for their own careers. There is now no difference between the main parties, all right wing and signed on to capitalism. That's why voter apathy is so pronounced.
Let the Big Ben be not silenced, but ring out in honour of Tony Benn. Let the people come out in their thousands for his funeral and show the hypocrites that unlike the tax financed state funeral forThatcher, this is the final journey for a man of people. Make the occasion a solemn protest. He would have liked that, as a final act of protest against the establishment.
I went to see Tony Benn speak in Brighton around 1990/91, it was a small venue if I recall but Galloway is correct - it was utterly electric and mesmerising, such a powerful experience - I was only about 23 or something but it was profound x

it was not hundreds of thousands of jobs that he destroyed. It was milloins of jobs.
Everything else you got correct.

Thank you George.Your words are lovely and your loyalty second to none.I wish you were our leader. You are a very good.BLESS YOU
Beautifully presented George and emotive to the core. Am sure Mr Tony Benn would be immeasurably cheering you, on high, when you originally presented this eulogy to him.
Massive changes could be effective today if those who need this the most would humble themselves to learn from his examples of love and truth for the people !!
George expresses what so many of us feel at the loss of a giant. Thank you.
Marvelous....just ...and fitting tribute to a truly great figure.Thank you Mr Galloway.
That was a marvelous tribute to a wonderful human being. Well done George.

Excellent eulogy George. Tony Benn was indeed, one of the great ones!
I think when someone like George Galloway gives a testimony like this, on what is obviously a very personal level, it does make you think how our world would look like now if Tony Benn had of been PM
Some wonderful words and memories, thank you for sharing them
Wonderful tribute to the inimitable and incomparable Tony Benn.First-class,George!
Beautiful George - Tony saw a vision of Britain where people made things and a honest days work got a honest days pay
Really?

Thanks George for such a touching eulogy. RIP Tony Benn
A very sad day indeed and a most fitting eulogy. Thank you George, and RIP Tony Benn.
I found that wonderfully moving. Galloway can be a pain but here he does what he does best
Thank you, George. I was also lucky to have known Tony. The memory of him creates a nourishing warmth; a wonderful man.
Thank you George for that moving tribute..

Thank you George for your kind words, will will miss Mr Benn tremendously
Wonderful tribute to Tony Benn, may he Rest in Peace.

chrish12345 Your reply shows that you wish to be one that controls!.
What does that prove ?
I am sure that most MP's would have taken their photo.
Tony Dines Canon etc.
I loved this man. he will be forever missed.
I don't always like or agree with the way Galloway promotes himself, but this was a beautiful and heartfelt eulogy for a great man.
+apexofbeing So you took the KOOL-AID too?
+Burlats de Montaigne It's very sad you feel the need to troll on a video about someone giving a eulogy for their mentor and friend.
He used to be my M.P. and he is a shameless carpet bagger and blowhard opportunist. We voted for him to get RID of Oona NOT to get George.
People said that about Tony in the day. We are constantly fed opinions by the right wing media until we don't know what we think any more.
@Ayn Rand enough of his remarks!
You’re replying to a comment that’s 5 years old you melt

Funny how last year the BBC made a song and dance of Thatchers death, but nothing for this legendary man.
Well because he destroyed millions of jobs and Thatcher created millions.

The working class smashed themselves. We had scab miners and truck drivers who were only too happy to break through picket lined.
Thank you Sir. What an informative and caring speech.
A fine eulogy for a fine man.
Very well said George. There are too few left (if any) in Westminster with the attributes that Tony had. He will be sorely missed.
thank you george and god bless Tony Benn , amazing man he was and we wont forget !! RIP.

Thank you George Respect
Tony Benn was a friend of Enoch Powell, his counterpart on the Conservative benches. Both were passionately against membership of the EU.
Well done George .Hard to imagine there will be a better eulogy on the great Tony Benn
That was very nice George and sincere
RIP Tony Benn

So much repect for Tony Benn. He was the embodiment of Integrity, decency & Compassion..As a Socialist with Spiritual leanings he knew that all the worlds religious & spiritual traditions emphasised kindness, love, tolerance & social justice..Serving & advocating for the poor & oppressed was the greatest service one could do for the God of one's understanding- Tony had the deep Wisdom to know & carry out this calling tirelessly & with the utmost empathy for those "on the margins"- Rip Tony faithful servant of Humanity & The Father of All🙏💐
George - Thank you for reminding us of the unique social vision and political acumen embodied in Tony Benn.
Oh for heavens sake , are you for real ? If benn had had his way we would all be on the bones of our arses by now. If you want to see how things would have worked out under Tony Benn just look no further than East Germany b4 the wall came down. " unique social vision and political acumen " ........ My arse mate
Did you ever visit East Germany? Thought not. Apt name, proud to be a scab? Really, quite witty for a troll. Almost...clever.
A beautiful eulogy for a beautiful life.
One of the good ones eulogising one of the good ones. Now that's worth 100 prime minister's question times.
Well said George...you have done him proud
George Galloway I salute you! RIP Tony Benn!
"Neil Kinnock is an establishment clown" god damn that's the truth.
Touching thought from Mr. Galloway. Best wishes from the most backward part of the United States. And R.I.P Tony Benn.
James, best wishes to you and yours in the states.
a first class tribute

Nicely said. He will be greatly missed, but we will carry on the cause he championed
Me and my dad went to hear him speak in York, he was becoming phys frail, but he spoke with such truth and power. We felt lifted after hearing him. A true patriot, with none of the Nationalist nonsense.
I hope god has the sense to ask him for advice 😊
Nationalism is healthy and normal
Terrific words. Well spoken with immense love and respect. And great history lesson. So educational to hear this. I agree with all except NATO. But that maybe I need to find out more on that subject and look at it again. RIP Tony Benn. His son NOT a chip off the old block.
Lovely man with beautiful values
Moving indeed. Rip my dear friend.
Thank you George. RIP Tony. We will do our best to honour your legacy, to be your legacy.
Mr Benn was a gift from god to Briton and the world.
Glad you liked him, but you would have to prove " god's " existence, which you cannot do.
Hi Phil
OK, nature's gift.
Mehrdad Zandipour Well Mehrdad, that's more like it!
phil jones The words are synonymous.
David Jones What do you mean?
I was fortunate enough to meet Mr Benn in Finsbury Park in 1995. I was a uniformed police officer. We were walking in the same direction so we had a very interesting chat for 10 minutes as we walked along. There’s no politicians of his calibre today.
what a gentleman and amazing man he was
A beutiful eulogy.
Keep the torch going George. A rapidly growing number of people now believe in what Tony Ben believed in. R.I.P. Tony Ben
Very nice Eulogy Comandante, R.I.P Tony Benn
A great man the likes of which will not return. A defender of people like me: the common man, a defender of civil rights and liberties, a powerful intellect, a great orator. The labour movement and indeed the parliamentary scene is far, far poorer today.
Defender?
How could you possibly say that. He destroyed millions of jobs.
Great words Mr Galloway.
الله يرحمك توني بن كان صادق الكلمه والضمير ومنصف المظلوم
Nobody could put it better.
Tony Benn was the greatest politician of the 20th century imo (at least the 2nd half) & I'm an Irish Republican.
Tony Benn supported British troops being sent to Ireland.
Your not irish your a socialist scumbag
you clearly have no understanding of irish republicanism jono
Réabhlóid
Uh, no, you historically illiterate twat. Benn was against the invasion of Ireland, and British Imperialism of all descriptions.
George and Tony, the two men in politics who always speak the truth.
Well Done George, beautifully said
I went to see Tony Benn speak in Brighton around 1990/91, it was a small venue if I recall but Galloway is correct - it was utterly electric and mesmerising, such a powerful experience - I was only about 23 or something but it was profound x
Wonderful my friend, much respect George
Benn- unrivalled
Wonderful
Love you, Mr. Galloway ❣️ - from a mere 15 miles outside The Swamp
❤️ Free Palestine ❤️
He's before my time, sounds like a good guy
