This is one of my favorite steamers.Being a model railroad 🥜nut myself, I have a replica of the🚂 2-8-2 Mikado in HO and N scale. Both of them run great. The N scale one is a "Heavy Mikado",with 6 wheel trucks.
Boy can she sing!!! That whistle gives me goosebumps..thats just the way a steam engine is supposed to sound. Its like im listening to living history .
It looked like an urban setting, so the engineer probably had to keep the speed down-- but I'd *love* to see a video of this engine outside of town, with the throttle opened-up!
That's the 2-8-2 Baldwin Baldwin Mikado built in October 1911 and 111 years old in 2022 built in SOU. (Southern railroad Tennessee valley railroad museum)
These Mikado engines are popular. This Queen of Steam is cousin to McCloud R.R. #19, which is mostly famous for Emperor of the North, and Stand By Me. These engines are amazing and I got to see #19 (Pancho) regularly as a child when it ran excursions at the Yreka Western R.R. Great video!
