FUN FACT: Pompano hang around CowNose Rays. They stir up sediment off the bottom such as clams and shells. Pompano are then able to get an easy meal from the stirred up bottom.
Good to meet you the other day at Hooked Up Bait and Tackle! TORE UP the Pomps this past week. 33 pomps over 4+ days!! Never thought I'd find myself tossing pomps back, but had no choice. Great week of fishing in Gulf Shores.
Can’t thank you enough just got back from 2 weeks in Gulf shores and Ft. Morgan using many of the techniques I’ve seen you use. Caught many Spanish, flounder and Whiting. A nice Blacktip on a spoon wading. Thanks again for many great tips!
Handling a ray for that long speaks highly of the quality of the rigs that you are making and would love to see an instructional video on how you make them.
Been following you for a few weeks now and saw your channels sticker in a tackle shop earlier this week :) caught my first pomps ever with some shrimp and fishbites from there
Going to gulf shores for spring break in 2 weeks fish should be booming since it’s warming up also should I use 20lb or 25lb I might go to the pier if it’s not packed
@@MaddenOutdoor well on this day 2 months ago when I went it was windy like bad it was cold and there were a few sheepshead around but everything probably moved into the bay but fishing right now is prime time
I wouldn’t mind catching cow nose they fun to catch and they are huge to brag at my bass fisherman friends making them wishing that they come fish with me 😂
@@ADeafAngler00123 How do you release the hook without getting the poke if you can't get it to free while reeling it in? Getting into surf fishing and anything with toxins, venom, barbs, or teeth worries me a bit.
@@calebdrake3544 the cownose stingray can’t reach you with the barbs I just use pliers to pull the hook and you can put one hand in the mouth and other hand on the under body and carry em back in the water and push it the other direction
Learning a lot from your videos. I have a place down there I visit and vacation at, and I’ll be retiring there in 2024. In the past I’ve only caught pin fish and salt cats. After watching and learning I’m ready to go try for some bigger fish. I’m also going to try crabbing for blue crabs. (Another awesome video you had) Thanks for including the type and size limits.

Great attitude & informative video, I'd fish with you any time! My son is there this week with his buds and I'm going have him check out your channel.
Thank you! Good luck to them, Thanks for watching!
Great job hanging in there till you got the pompano. Enjoyed the end.
Planning to check it out sometime in November for the first time. Looking forward to it. Would be cool if I run into you.

Looking forward to coming down this weekend, hope the bite is on, any suggestions?
What can I catch at the gulf shores with 60 pound thread? And what size hook would I need? And what do I use lure or bait?
I’m going to gulf shores tomorrow
persistence pays. sometimes!
I would have liked to see what a cownose looks like. could you do a "cook" for the Pompano. I've heard they are really tasty
Cool!.....enjoyed!
It's like the herin is your little fishin buddy😅
This is where I go every day
Good eating my friend.

A group of sting rays are call a Fever. Maybe cownose rays are the same?
Probably so! Interesting
Down from Massachusetts. Surf fishing bama gulf. Not being from around here could you recommend places to toss bait.
Guessing Pompano are good eating? I'm trying to learn as much as I can. I will be there in two weeks. What size weight are you using?
Excellent eating for sure! and normally 2-3 oz depending on the surf
I love pompano!
I wanted one of those fish wagons but they want $499.00 kinda expensive but when I’m walking with gear and pass someone pulling one I get jealous lol

Is there a reason you keep your rodtip to the side and not up?
That's why he's losing them
Still workin on my first pompano...
That’s sad bro, sell me your rods & equipment I’ll give you a good price
Why do you not want sting rays I have never got one and I would love to get one
Bama, ok now I want to know how you or Mrs. Bama cook those Pompano's ?
Do you use a leader to to attach the pompano rig to your main line?

Is there anywhere I can buy fish gum at gulf shores? Or can I only buy it online?
Hooked Up in Gulf Shores currently has it in stock
@@BamaSaltwater I’ll be there Sunday-Friday so hopefully they’ll have some available when I arrive. Thanks!!
Dang man, 1 ray is fun but multiple is annoying when you’re after different fish haha
For real hahaha
Where could I find a dropper rig like that?
I hand tie them and they're available on my website here: bamasaltwater.com/shop/ols/products/bama-saltwater-pompano-rig
I want to eat the candy stuff
Ikr , I do too everytime haha
Let's see you cook those fishes up and eat them.
