This album didn’t get the recognition it deserved at the time. Such an underrated album. I know RAM received the Grammy award but we all know which albums really define Daft Punk essentially
I think Discovery and Human After all are the definition of Daft Punk. Sooooo many other songs used the material from those albums to make other songs-Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Kanye West...all of them were able to use those albums as source material.
I actually really loved RAM because of songs like Touch, Giorgio by Moroder, and Contact. Those songs in particular sounded so alien, and felt like they had so many emotions to give, with Contact having a feeling of both wonder and terror, Giorgio having a sense of warmth and triumph, and Touch giving me thoughts of bitter-sweetness and somber joy.
Why is Daft Punk cool? Maybe it's the layering of their synths. Just listen: if you pay attention, you'll notice a new sound every time you listen to the songs.
Right . I always hear something new . Even in older music I find myself listening and noticing things I missed 30 years ago . Daft Punk made it an art . Air I give second place . There are mixes of Kelly Watch The Stars that I find a new sound in with each time I hear it .

If you listen carefully the vocoder said "HUMAIN HUMAIN" that's the French trad for "Human" in English. This French guys are genius, plein d'amour de Paris les gars.
I actually wrote an essay about the lyrics to this song in 12th grade, about why this is my favorite song and what it means to me:"Not So Daft After All" Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, the French electronic music duo known as Daft Punk, are famous of their dance and progressive house compositions, such as One More Time and Get Lucky or others lack any deep meaning beyond “have fun and dance.” 2005 marked the release of Daft Punk’s third album Human After All: a slight change in taste for the robots, as the songs dove into darker and more thoughtful themes. That is especially apparent with the title song, as this track not only speaks about human discrimination, but also has a strong message about how society may be going down the wrong path. After a fifty second long intro, the first lyrics of the song sung in Daft Punk’s robotic vocals “We are human after all, much in common after all.” This repeats eight times, with a synth and a guitar beat in the background, which creates an easy-going and somewhat eerie mood. But despite the simplicity of the lyrics, there is a lot Daft Punk is saying is this verse. The obvious message is that we are all human, and we are all the same. The lyrics are Thomas and Guy-Manuel’s way of acknowledging that humans may all be different, but we have more in common then we think. Much like John Lennon's Imagine, Daft Punk’s Human After All contains a flat-out anti-discrimination and anti-violence message. Race, gender, religion, sexual preference; none of it matters. And none of it should matter because “We are human after all, much in common after all.” The last minute or so of Human After All is where the song takes an interesting turn. The lyrics are “Human, human, human, human, human, human, human, human, human, human, human, human, human, human, human after all” and this repeats seven times. Repetitive and simple as it is, more so then the previous four minutes, this section of the song sets the mood just as well. What’s interesting is that this section contradicts the first section, as the mood is a little different. Rather than being happy that we are human and that every human is the same, Thomas and Guy-Manuel are saying that we should be ashamed of all being the same. In other words, humans are too alike. One could even suggest that the hypnotic lyrics in this verse are saying that we humans have degraded into brainless zombies, doing what all the other brainless zombies are doing. The lyrics and the way which they are presented raise the questions: how human are we? Are we more machine then human? These philosophical ideas make this section of the song more thought-provoking, as opposed to simply telling us what to think, like in the beginning. So, with these two contradicting ideas Thomas and Guy-Manuel are trying to get across in Human After All, only thing is certain: they’re not saying humans are perfect. We have a lot to improve about ourselves and Daft Punk acknowledges this. And if we are to disagree, well, we must be pretty daft ourselves.
+Michael J. Doyle Literally my favorite song; I have listened to it thousands of times, yet you gave me chills. I never bothered to think about the lyrics before.
They are a lot of the time, they use Vocoders (modifies voice audio recorded digitally), and the edited audio clips are then mixed with the beat to create Human After All by Daft Punk
Despite often being criticized for its simplicity, to me, Human After All (The Album) felt the most deep in a way. A journey of two robots just wanting to be human. Going through numerous ups and downs along the way. Especially after watching Electroma, my appreciation for this album just grew. Thank you Daft Punk! You were always Human after all.
It feels really raw in its simplicity too. And the actual compositions are really good, just simple. It's like the saying that sometimes the smartest people say things in the fewest number of words. Human After All makes really awesome songs using only basic, effective melodies and mixing. It's so cool! It's like listening to the heart of music.
I only really like about half the songs, but there are a few that are actually really good like this one. I like the theme but some songs are so repetitive that it's annoying.
It's enthralling, Daft Punk's robotic motif tells a story over the albums. I remember an early interview, they mentioned that "one day, they were bathed in a light from the sky and became robots" and were learning what that meant. Homework was trying to figure that out. Discovery was learning what they could do and what it meant. THIS album and the title track represented how they were human after all, despite their looks, despite what happened, they were human after all.

Love from Canada Thomas & Guy
A beautiful song for those among us who suffer from crippling social anxiety, even if you feel like a robot removed from the rest, we are human after all
This hurts to listen to now
How does it hurt?
@@mohandcruze4914 why wouldn't it?
@@nazurin5982 Because its enjoyable to listen too and In my opinion it reminds me of daft punk so it makes me happy not sad, just sad that they broke up.
carry the faith brother
Hey y'all you know the movie TRON legacy the music from the movie is by them
Your music will last forever, you legends.
RIP Daft Punk.
They announced their split.
Haha, this whole time I thought the song went.
"We are human.
After all.
Had shit comin'.
After all"
Like it was kind of a darker song on the surface.
We are human after all, we make mistakes, learn and try to fix our mistakes.
We were doomed from the beginning to make mistakes.
ITS not had shit comin. ITS Much in common
O lol I thought you were joking by saying had shit comin
William Nichols *Much un common
I've seen it as "Flesh uncovered" and that makes more sense IMO. I'm pretty sure the album doesn't come with lyrics either so heh...
I'm laughing so goddamn hard omg
DAFT PUNK ❤️
Just love when the beat stops and continues with a mmmmmm
Soooomething's in the air. Man everytime I hear this song I'm simultaneously playing Superheroes in my head.
Legends after all
Thanks for all!! You have influenced so many with your music and your art.
I don't wanna get sad, but I'm human after all...
R.I.P Daft Punk, your music defines what being human is really like, sentient beings with emotion.
Now this gon hit different
Yep.
"Don't be sad because it's ending. Be happy that it happened."
Daft Punk 1993 - 2021
listening to this in 2023, human music!
This song hitting different today :(
This song does hit diferent today. Indeed, they are Human after all, and like any other human, they get tired and need rest.
