  • A review of the Rising R7, a Model S-sized car that costs less than a Model 3.
    ********
Rising has come a long way from merely being a sporty product line of the budget Roewe brand. Now a brand in its own right, more upmarket and fully electric, it's entering a brutally competitive space.
So how does their second car, the svelte-looking full-size saloon F7, set itself apart from the competition? Well if you like a great driving position, rear seat entertainment, battery swapping ability, or even just a rear hatch instead of a saloon trunk, you might just find the F7 to be a very compelling proposition. Oh, and did we mention it will start at about £22,500 (in China) with the battery rental model?
The F7 is a serious bit of kit for an almost comically low price tag.

Which would be a huge advantage as soon es all those Chinese brands are sold globally in huge numbers, when they all can share one swapping station network, i guess. But somehow it seems every brand is going for their own system still. Maybe the article about some standard was just bs, as i haven't heard something about it ever since?

@GunterZochbauer Nobody is really complaining about not enough charging stations here, though in Germany I understand the situation is quite different. The simple thing with this system is that you may have to queue behind another user swapping their battery but they'll be done in 3 minutes then you go in and you're done in 3 minutes, 0-100% charged. With this model you also don't own the battery, you rent it, so you have no concerns over warranty and you don't pay that upfront cost. It's not perfect, but it's a viable solution that hundreds of thousands of NIO users are using today, and in Beijing a lot of taxi drivers too.
