      shegellee lee I got 25 on reading because I was trying to beat time as I got 4 passages and I had a lot of distractions with people coming in for the exam. I also got 26 on the listening section. I’ve never had issues writing so it wasn’t difficult for me. Study the templates they really work. Practice, practice, practice then start timing yourself n also record yourself with a timer n know how fast n clearly you speak.

    Hey, I just finished the exam. All the question were as you described. The only difference was in Speaking Question 5. THE TWO STUDENTS SPENT A LOT OF TIME DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM. It took almost two minutes or so. Unlike the Official guide, where the description of the problem is one or two sentences.

    I took the test again today Saturday, April 13th. Speaking questions 1 and 2 were long paragraphs with two choices each. Speaking question 5 was also very confusing, hard to identify the student's problem. As you explain on your video, the description of the problem and the objections were broken up by interjections, were confusing and long dialogue. Independent writing task included a long paragraph with three choices. Each time the test is elaborated harder and harder. Can you recommend me a quick method or technique to learn the spelling of the vowels and consonants ?. Thanks again for your awesome and useful videos. Greatly appreciated.

  • @themaddesigner
    @themaddesigner 3 года назад

    I spoke your answer rather quickly and it took me 90 seconds. In a normal speaking setting, this will take at least 2 minutes for a native speaker and Toefl takers are not natives! It's not practical at all and it needs to be summarized badly and then the result will be a completely different answer! Being realistic is crucial in making this kind of video.

    • @Toeflresources
      @Toeflresources  3 года назад

      I just read it aloud in my office and it took 54 seconds. I really want to stress that word count is quite important for a high score. The SpeechRater is looking for about 170 words to score in the 99th percentile for integrated responses. That requires an extremely fast pace. Obviously not everyone will be able to achieve that... but it is the "target" for a 30 point score.

    • @themaddesigner
      @themaddesigner 3 года назад

      @@Toeflresources According to ETS, by speaking at a normal pace you will be able to get the perfect score. There are even example answers in the official ETS channel, in which the test takers speak at a normal pace and get the complete score. Indeed they even recommend a normal pace. If a non-native speaks this many words in less than one minute (that seems impossible) with an unfamiliar accent, even Toelf experts will have difficulties understanding it. ETS utterly states that in order to achieve a perfect score, your speech must be easily understandable.

    • @Toeflresources
      @Toeflresources  3 года назад

      I don't believe that they say "by speaking at a normal pace you will be able to get the perfect score." Do you have a source for that? Keep in mind that the samples provided by ETS are described a "high" level. But to ETS high is 24 and above.

    • @themaddesigner
      @themaddesigner 3 года назад

      @@Toeflresources ruclips.net/video/JPEfWz6MFSg/видео.html Listen to 2:00 this is also repeated in the other words in the other speaking guide videos. When they say this response receives 4 out of 4 I think it can be translated to the "perfect score"! However, the sample response in this reference video receives 3 out of 4; but there are also other videos in this channel providing examples of 4 out of 4 scored responses.ruclips.net/video/NHPwR3En_1A/видео.html look at 3:12 for "natural pace" recommendation and 3:50 for a sample response that has received 4 out of 4 points.

    • @Toeflresources
      @Toeflresources  3 года назад

      At 2:00 in that video it says "if you speak at a normal pace, you will have enough time to give a complete response." It does not say that you will get a perfect score. Same for 3:12 in the other video.
      It is also important to note that the videos you've referred to are quite old. They were created many years ago, before automated scoring was implemented on the TOEFL. Answers are no longer scored "4 out of 4". While it is entirely possible that the human rater might assign such a score to one of those samples, the automated scoring has a whole different scoring method... which takes speaking pace into consideration.
      Anyways, you don't have to trust me. Just try it for yourself. Purchase two of the graded speaking tests from ETS via. Speak at a "normal" pace in the first one, and then speak quickly in the second one. You will be provided with a chart that measures your speaking rate and what percentile you are in.
