  • What is divine fairness? It’s like everyone receiving the same reward no matter how much work each one has done. The parable of the Workers in the Vineyard challenges our expectations and can even make us uncomfortable. Yet, Jesus tells us this is what the Kingdom of Heaven is like. Brian Shantz joins us to preach from within the walls of Toronto Centre Place on the third of our ten Parable Sundays, as together we discern how to apply this teaching to our lives today.
Beyond the Walls - The Workers in the Vineyard. We invite you to share this hour of reflection, prayer, meditation, music, and fellowship with the Beyond the Walls global community on 📅 Sunday, June 16, 2024. You can participate on live video as usual or join us in person at: 💒 320 Richmond Street East, Suite 101. Toronto, ON M5A 1P9.

Please pray for my church congregation. Our pastor has gone home to be with the Lord, and we are in need of direction and discernment. We are not going to be able to keep our meeting space and need to decide how to proceed. Thank you in advance for your prayers 🙏

I am an enormous fan of yours ... first time I have listened to your service. I was really with you at the humanist level of the parable till Chapter & verse from Matthew, Jesus blah, blah, blah ... do.not understand how you are squaring the circle from.your incredible, insightful lectures.. 😞

Expression of faith is a lot like art and music. You can understand a lot by studying music theory or art history - but you won't become an artist or musician without doing it. It's hard to even appreciate the broad range of art without experiencing it. Listen to 10:25-11:08 - take him up on his challenge - try again to see how people might find it meaningful - ask them what they worthwhile in what you perceive as "blah, blah, blah."
Or, not. I'm just trying to say that, if you admire John, and respect his knowledge and intelligence - maybe there's more to these worship services than you're picking up on. You might develop a taste for it, you might not. But, if John puts such a great value on it, maybe it's worth a deeper look.
