      These type of stories always remind me of the one with Stallone and Lungren. Apparently Stallone would always ask Rocky co-stars to spar once, that way they could also get some good real shots for the movie. Lungren didn't wanna do it, in the end Stallone managed to convince him to hit him once, so he did. Stallone ended up in the hospital so messed up the insurance company refused to pay saying he either had been ran over by a truck or had been in a car accident because there was no way a single punch could've made that much damage. If I remember right he had several broken ribs, a concussion and had suffered a mini stroke lol

      @dunringill1747 5 лет назад +30

      @@ragnar97 Ah, Rocky IV. I have to give Stallone credit for being willing to spar with Dolph Lundgren. It was a single punch to the chest that put Sylvester Stallone in the hospital for 4 1/2 days. Stallone had to be air lifted to the intensive care unit at St. John's Hospital. As you stated , the insurance company was unwilling to pay until they were shown the actual footage of the incident. It is verified the insurance initially believed Stallone was hit by a car or truck because the impact caused his heart to smash against his ribs and swell up - similar to car accident injuries.

      @WeeItsNookies Yeah, I'm not convinced it was rape. No one else suggested it was rape, he just jumped to that conclusion when he saw the tape of Becca leaving the office she was in with Homelander. And for all of his faults, Homelander is honest throughout the show, because he can be. What is anyone going to do if they don't like what he tells them? And lastly, if Vought wanted a good mother for Homelander's son, you do NOT want a woman that he raped and got pregnant. She felt terrible about cheating, and then finds out she's pregnant, so Vought offers her a way out that she probably thinks hurts Butcher the least.

    • @777L777E777

      No, it was definitely rape. Those words he says are wisely chosen by the writers because those type of words are always used by the rape apologizists all over the world.

      @@Timmayytoo You have to think about homelander as a person. Would homelander tear a womans clothes off? Or would he sit there and tell her to strip, watching her squirm and cry and beg? The homelander we see LOVES to torture and hurt people when he gets the chance, like when he slowly kills people or held Heuy down extra long JUST because he was scared of water. Thats also why he doesnt out right say he raped her. That wouldn't hurt Butcher, just reaffirm him. Suggesting that she WANTED to fuck him? That hurts Butcher, even if he doesnt believe it from homelander it hurts.

      @@777L777E777 The real answer is we still don't definitively know anything. The only reason anybody even believes it was rape is because Mallory said it was. Keep in mind Mallory had the same motivation to lie to Butcher that Butcher did to Hughie in episode one. Everything is kept intentionally ambiguous. She has other reasons to be displaying fear/shock that Homelander and Butcher showed up at her doorstep... namely the fact she has been actively hiding from them both for the better half of a decade.

    The ending is left open to interpretation on purpose. I think you are having trouble with it because you are assuming that Becca cheated on Butcher continually or wanted to have a relationship with Homelander. Further, you also assume that the baby could be aborted at all - Homelander is nearly invincible, and you have a kid who has shown similar powers...how do you know she could have aborted it if she wanted to? Do you think Vought would have even let her?
    I think the most likely explanation is that Homelander either raped or seduced her one time, she got pregnant and went to Vought about it and they set her up with a life away from Homelander and her husband. She chose the baby, either through love of it, fear of Homelander, or fear of having to reveal her being raped/seduced to her husband. Vought, meanwhile, likely set her up with a place away from Homelander so they could get another asset in the future (and also Vogelbaum seemed committed to making sure such a child grew up in an environment with a mother, perhaps he is the architect of the current situation. The fact Homelander learns her location from him supports this).
    Obviously, the ultimate loser in this situation is Butcher, who (regardless of her reasoning) Becca abandoned without a word. Homelander's version of the story can't really be trusted, as he clearly wants to hurt Butcher (he only saved him to throw Becca in his face).

    • @giantWario

      Ok, even if we totally disregard the fact that the writers outright said it wasn't rape, why would Homelander lie about their relationship when hes literally planning to bring Butcher to see Becca right after telling him this? Thats just silly. Read the situation, Homelander was under no threat whatsoever, he actually kind of seems to like Billy (he has no real reason to hate him, he was never a threat) and he was in full control of the situation, why the hell would he lie? And frankly, even when Butcher said that he did it, I also thought it wasn't true. Even if Homelander was the kind of guy who'd rape people which I frankly also didn't saw as really in-character, he definitly wasn't the kind of guy who'd let the person he raped just walk away alive. If Homelander had raped Becca, she would have never come out of that room alive, not when Homelander care about his reputation more then anything else.
      And if you're wondering why I didn't think it was in-character for him to rape someone anyway, rape is about power. Rape stems mostly from someone's insecurity as they represented quite well with The Deep who is the butt of the joke of everyone else in the Seven and used the little power he had to force himself on Starlight so he woudn't feel like hes at the bottom of the totem pole anymore. Homelander has the ultimate power and very much aware of it. Why rape anyone when you see yourself as a god?

    She didn't disappear as much as Vought MADE her disappear. She was the first instance of a supe actually getting someone pregnant. And the most powerful one at that. That made her and the kid very valuable. Also, Voglebom especially realized the mistake he made with Homelander by raising him in that cold sterile lab with no love. So this was kind of his do over. To be entirely fair to Becca, its possible Butcher has always been overly compulsive and obsessive and maybe they had a bad relationship. Or Vought threatened to kill Billy if Becca didn't raise the kid in secret. But its obvious that he's meant to replace Homelander as the worlds greatest hero, and they thought that John/Homelander might've taken action to prevent that from happening had he known. Additionally, Homelander did save Billy, but also chose to torture him by throwing the truth on him instead of just giving it to him straight. But this revelation makes you question basically everything you've seen. They basically killed Translucent for no reason, it technically makes Mesmer a good guy, (who Butcher also killed) and they got Popclaw killed, all on the basis of getting revenge for Becca. Also Butcher just accidentally covered up the fact that Homelander killed Stillwell.

    Starlight has the power of light and A-Train may be the faster person alive and may be able to break the sound barrier although he can't go as fast as light. There for the only thing that should stop her from hitting him is her ability to change where she is blasting. The light would have reached the end of the room as soon as she blasted it even from A-Trains perspective. Obviously not instant however there is no difference for anything moving even a percentage of the full speed unless it's a black hole.

      gabriel vieira read my comment up top. I said he never lies when confronted with the truth because he's The Homelander ! Nobody can do jack even if he messed up. Remember when got caught by stillwell after lasering that plane in half, he never even attempted to lie or cover it up. When he let the 2nd plane crash killing hundreds he twisted the story to make Stillwell and Vought look good. If they wouldve confronted him with the truth he wouldntve lied because what can they do?

    • @goldenageofdinosaurs7192

      machedar Implied by who though? Once again, Homelander could’ve thought it was consensual. I’m sure The Deep thought what he did to Starlight was consensual too. That doesn’t make it so. When you have that kind of power, it’s very difficult to know whether people are consenting out of fear. Homelander is a terrifying sociopath. Who knows what he said. Look how he dealt with Maeve. That was manipulative as hell, telling her he’d basically kill her & do who knows what else if she ever took a lover that isn’t him.

    I'm sure Vought paid her to keep the baby and had her raise him in case they needed a solution for Homelander. We've seen they aren't above paying parents to manipulate children. The fact that the higher ups knew about the child makes it even more likely they were hoping the kid would be a replacement for Homelander.

    When reading comments and seeing how reactors talk about the Homelander and Becca situation, I think I'm the one who never doubted that he raped her. Homelander just thinks he never does anything wrong. It's weird how in real life Homelander would've been cancelled by everyone as soon as the allegations came out. Not many people would be like, what's the whole story though. Lol

    That was such a great ending. Such a great twist on the story that I did not see coming until right before it was revealed. Plus I love that it answered some major questions but still left some, and brought up others, to keep us interested in next season. This is such a great show and I can't wait to see what they do in season 2.
    I think Vought hid Rebecca and her son as a condition of helping her with the pregnancy. They probably saw it as a second chance to do Homelander right. Vogelbaum said that Homelander should have been raised with a family that loved him and that he was Vogelbaum's greatest failure. You see how fucked up Homelander is. They were trying to fix that with his son. That's also why they didn't want Homelander to know. As for what happened between Homelander and Rebecca, God only knows the truth but I'm sure it will be fucked up when we find out.

    What I think is that there are 2 possibilities:
    1. Becca actually did cheat on billy because it's not everyday that you get laid by a supe. But then she might have started feeling guilty and to add to it, got pregnant and vought found out about the baby and relocated her by making her sign an NDA.
    2. Vought needed a contingency against a supe with no weakness(allegedly). since Homelander did not grow up with a family, he is ruthless. So there needed to be a "good" superhero who grew up in a home with parent(s) to tackle this issue and Becca was the solution (How did she get selected? that is for the series to explain.)
    Or maybe a combination of 1&2. Vought got to know about 1 and decided about 2.
    I don't think she was raped. Homelander just killed Stillwell, a woman who was said to be his weakness. If he can do that, Becca is literally a nobody.
    And there IS more to the buzzing sound.. maybe in the second season ;)
    Also, Great stuff! React to the season 2 trailer too!

  • @FdotStizzy

    Here’s my interpretation about homelander and the rape allegation...when Maeve asked homelander to just save the little girl in the plane. Homelander replies “no” because she will live to tell what happened...because homelander cares about his reputation. If homelander had raped Becca he would’ve killed her immediately after...also! He thinks butcher is after him because him and his wife had an affair. If homelander had raped her, he would’ve immediately knew why butcher was after him...but idk it’s left open for interpretation.

  • @fatterpillar
    @fatterpillar 4 года назад

    I'd say that Homelander came on to Rebecca because he actually thought that she did a good job as it hasn't been shown he really doesn't give a care about anything he doesn't. There is a chance that when's he's done it with others, the person he goes with ends up dead either through the act or the pregnancy. Vought saw it on video and knowing what happened, wanted to see what a mother raised Homelander would be like instead of one stuck in the lab, and offered her the easiest of lives with complete anonymity for the opportunity to raise the supreme heroes son (the reason she sat on a bench for three hours, as someone in her position probably need to weigh her options before taking such a leap) and she accepted it. I'd base this off of that Scientists guy's statements in the previous episodes in which he calls Homelander his greatest failure whom should have been raised by a mother instead of a lab. All Homelander saw was a sort of "this is what seems correct to me" in a laboratory setting rather than having the assumed empathetic nurturing nature of a stereotypical mother (though I can't understand why the scientists didn't think to include any sort of father figure to prevent his probable idolisation of Homelander.). Basically they had no way to defeat homelander and wanted to raise something that would understand that Homelander is evil but is an equal to him, but it is likely to fail due to the lack of male role models that aren't super heroes.

    I think Teddy’s gone. I wanna believe that Butcher assumed, given how little regard Homelander had for the baby, that the baby would be killed regardless. Or they’re just making him as hardcore as his comic book character.
    As for Becca’s baby, not sure abortion was an option given her fetus may have been impervious, and even removing it may have put her in great risk. And the ONLY doctors who could know how to help (Vought) would NOT help her abort, because money.
    The only way we’re gonna know what really happened between Becca & Homelander is to hear it from her. Because of the power imbalance (can you really say no to a guy who could easily get you fired, let alone crush/melt you?), Homelander may believe he’s telling the truth, but it may not be accurate. Or he may be lying, but given the little regard he had for Stillwell & Butcher, would he feel the need to?

      Edgar Retana It should be mentioned that Butcher did not come to that conclusion on his own. That was what Mallory told him when she showed him the footage. Much like Butcher with Hughie, Mallory used Butcher as a pawn in her plot to get vengeance against the supes for whatever they did to her. He was consumed in his revenge the same way she was, and after she retired, Butcher ended up trying the same with Hughie. In Hughie’s case, it just happened to be right.

    • @anonymes2884
      @anonymes2884 5 лет назад +2

      @@peytonalexander5300 Exactly. One of the themes of the show is cycles of abuse/violence/revenge and if/how it's possible to break them. Mallory manipulates Butcher who manipulates Hughie. Vought manipulates/abuses Homelander who manipulates/abuses everyone around him. Frenchie's dad is violent and abusive and Frenchie grows up to be a murderer. Those are just the obvious ones, there're probably more.

He wanted to show Billy how wrong he was in his assumption and rub it in. There really isn't anything to speculate on. It all seems straight forward. The only thing that would cause any hang-ups on anything would be the assumption that Becca is innocent or a victim.
