Hello, I am the Explainlax and I speak for the obscure prehistoric organisms. Sorry if it sounded like I said "Jurassic" instead of "Triassic", don't bug me about it!
You know, a lack of fruit and flowers for most of the age of dinosaurs is likely a good reason why we haven't found many if any omnivorous tree dwellers.
Arboreal hunters are a thing too: imagine a Mesozoic creature that stalks birds, small pterosaurs, bugs and other flying critters while they are perched on trees.
paleontology is rotten to the core; strange is the fact that dino and whatnot gained fame so soon after darwin theory, as if to comfort darwin absurditie
Thanks for another great vid! Well worth the wait. This is rapidly becoming my favorite channel, inspires me to do further research on my own. Ill send in my paleoart once i get around to scanning it!
Part of the reason I like this channel is your dedication to search out and read scientific journals and articles. (I hate doing that personally. One of the banes of a science major)
Lagiacrus Preach the word of the feathers! Alright I'm serious now. That's awesome! My suggestions is to make interesting discussions and present great (accurate) paleo artwork
I've got a few Paleo Profile requests *Torosaurus *Nanotyrannus *Saurophaganax *Mamenchisaurus *Indominus Rex (Yes, it isn't real, but it would be cool to see one on her.) And a few Dinosaur Discussion videos *What were Ceratopsian horns and frills used for? *How fast could a T.rex really run? *The dinosaur morphology debate (Torosaurus=Triceratops, Dracorex=Stygimoloch=Pachycephalosaurus, Nanotyrannus=T.rex, etc)
+TREY the Explainer Please, do these and, Plateosaurus, Deinotherium, Dimorphodon, Dunklesteus (If you haven't already, I can't remember), Dracorex, Haullcigenia, Helicoprion, Opabinia, Terror bird, Hell pig, Sharovipteryxe, Stethacanthus, and Tanestropheus
Evil Snail That's the point. The examples he gave are all thought to be the same organism as each other at different ages. He's asking for him to comment on whether these animals are different species or not, or just about what the debate even is.
Very well. If and when I become a wealthy movie or TV mogul, a Drapanosaurus will be featured in my time travel epic. It will interrupt the teenagers' kiss, which will have to happen the next ep.
Sailor Barsoom But we've still got to have someone get mauled by a Carniosaurus! And really, it would be a shame if Tanny's neck wasn't put to some offensive use somehow.
dracocrusher I could bring back the arrogant security guard, the one who thinks he can tell everybody else how to do their job. That can get a guy mauled! Serve the jerk right.
Hi trey great vid as always! 😀 I've got some suggestions for future videos 1:Paleo profile for Guanlong 2:What your thoughts are on dinos like triceratops-torosaur trex-nannotyrannus or pachy-dracorex 3:Paleo profile on ceratosaurus
A Paleo Profile on Tyrannosaurus would be good for one sole reason. And that is to blow the ignorant people who still believe the "T.rex" from Jurassic Park is how it looked in real life out the water once and for all.
I'm writing some fantasy, and prehistoric animals like this are perfect inspiration for realistic, while also fantastic, fauna. Keep these up, I've got worlds to populate, and getting your exciting commentary is a bit more bearable than trying to sift through research.
if by kilo u mean one kilometer, then nope. 1 kilometer is waaaaaaay much closer to a mile. btw a kilo is shortened version for kilogram. You're thinking of the work klick.
Utahraptor vs Cassowary: Who wins!!! Cassowary: Large claws and vicious attitude Utahraptor: Big, muscular with large claws and giant head!!!! as a cassowary and its chick look around the plains they see a hulking utahraptor hunting for prey. Suddenly the utahraptor grabs the baby cassowary and punctures its windpipe. The baby cassowary dies soon after! Then the cassowary turns and claws the utahraptor, brutally wounding its ribs. The utahraptor turns and.... Who wins..... Decide below
Really? For a moment I could have sworn it was a 7 foot tall mutant turtle man carrying a pair of nunchucks. And I mentioned that to my friends and they blindly agreed with me and some other people who didn't even see the image, so it must be true!
OMG thanks. My sister likes the way you tell the info and she wants to hear how you make modern animals videos because she likes horses and she likes some dinosaurs XD
Thanks for letting me know for this weird animal, and I may add it to my Dinosauria series, and given most depictions are green, I may give it anteater colors, like the tamandua.
0:24 Aventure Time? Surely you mean Venture Time? Just notifying you, not trying to be a Spell Check Nazi. Also great video, thanks for introducing this creature, never before till now I heard of it.
Amazing, i have actually never heard of this dude. Btw Trey, i remember on one old video you saying, that u will also make Steven Universe related videos. What happened to that? But still, can't wait for your next video
Non-avian dinosaurs are often shown as giant, strange, and fiercy beasts. It's cool to see a cute little arboricol lizard (incorrect, but for lack of a better term) for a change.
U said 25 inches is a foot and a half? 24 inches is two feet sorry I know this is a older video and I love your work that just bugged me keep up the good work my friend
Wow, I didn't even know that the family of drepanosaurs existed before this video. Really cool animals. But hey Trey, speaking of palaeo-art memes, maybe you could do a list about the most persistant and uninspired ones?

Logan Angus Thank you :D
hi
love your videos
OxBow Pandora Thank you!
You know, a lack of fruit and flowers for most of the age of dinosaurs is likely a good reason why we haven't found many if any omnivorous tree dwellers.
Theriomancer im thinkin folivorous climbers with big fermenting stomachs
Arboreal hunters are a thing too: imagine a Mesozoic creature that stalks birds, small pterosaurs, bugs and other flying critters while they are perched on trees.
What? Angiosperms evolved about halfway through the age of the dinosaurs - 120 million years gives strong inference for an omnivorous tree dweller
Who gives a shit?
@@Hellbilly615 apparently quite a lot of people.
That speculative "arboreal, primate-like dinosaur" is one of the most creepy, uncanny things I've seen in a loooong while!
It’s not a dinosaur
Flatwoods MonSTAR and Mothman next week...
BAH DUM TISS. Trey you hype me up to the max. I'm so excited for your next video. Dang it I can't got to sleep now.
Pixel Master ;)
So excited I love urban legends
Davidrandom Flatwoods is one of my favorite
+TREY the Explainer question ? birds and dinosaurs, are they reptile ?
To make it into popculture, Dripanosaurus can shit on someone in Jurassic Park 5 :)
XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
That'll be cool. Colin Trevvorow, are you listening?
Jurassic world sucks, it would be better if it just didn't exist.
TBH, Jurassic World is good enough for me, but hey you have your opinion and I got mine.
7*
I'm watching your entire library of videos in 2021, they're still fresh!
Love your content and hope you make more paleo profile videos!
I misread the title as *Derp*anosaurus.
You were not entirely wrong.
I know
+WesternWolfWarrior me too XD
XD
we all did XD
Trey I honestly think you are one of the best out there. you bring me joy and knowledge. I thank you.
+zt1marquez Thank you :) I am happy to help!
+TREY the Explainer the fact that you have taken the time to reply to one of your fans sets you head and shoulders above the rest
zt1marquez ^^ thank you
Dude, I've never really even HEARD of this guy before. Thanks for letting me know.
Me to
There so many dinosaurs
Hm. Touché.
Even though technically this guy isn't a dinosaur, he's still pretty interesting. And yes, there is so many of them.
+Zaheer Shaikh i know
No problem :)
+TREY the Explainer :)
God must have created this thing on April First.
ITS JUST A PRANK BRO!!
+Gary Busususaurus I see you everywhere! Holy shit! I literally mean everywhere! Every single video!
Nemo's Husband's wife That means you have good taste. If we both watch the same stuff.
paleontology is rotten to the core; strange is the fact that dino and whatnot gained fame so soon after darwin theory, as if to comfort darwin absurditie
GOD DOES (NOT!) EXIST!
The explainlax. Oddly fitting.
Your videos really inspire my artwork. Thank you for all the hard work you put in.
Coolest/weridest Triassic creature! Great job on the video, as usual. I'm going to make a drawing now, based on a anteater
+animalman57 thank you!
+TREY the Explainer Just finshed my _Drepanosaurus_ drawing.
animalman57 Oh cool!
TREY the Explainer I took your advice and colored it after the tamandua.
animalman57 Great :)
Thanks for another great vid! Well worth the wait. This is rapidly becoming my favorite channel, inspires me to do further research on my own. Ill send in my paleoart once i get around to scanning it!
one thing I have to say, evolution repeats itself.
Of it worked before, it may work again.
I would absolutely love to see some primate-esqe tree dwelling pterosaurs in the future, and this drepanosaurus looks pretty cool too.
them dank memes
That illustration by Mark Witton is awesome! So lifelike!
Wasn't aware of the modified tail tip. Damn.
Aaaaand, oh my god, I'm so honoured to have my Bakkerraptor collage on this video. Thanks Trey!
+Rex H.G. Chen No problem! Thank you so much for watching! I love your blog :D
Part of the reason I like this channel is your dedication to search out and read scientific journals and articles. (I hate doing that personally. One of the banes of a science major)
Megalainia would make a good paleo proflie creature.
+Lagiacrus It's on the list
cool
By the way I started a paleontology club at my school, do you have any advice for me?

+Austin Ames He already talked about Indominus rex in a few videos.
+Austin Ames Maybe Quetzalcoatlus?
+TREY the Explainer
Please, do these and, Plateosaurus, Deinotherium, Dimorphodon, Dunklesteus (If you haven't already, I can't remember), Dracorex, Haullcigenia, Helicoprion, Opabinia, Terror bird, Hell pig, Sharovipteryxe, Stethacanthus, and Tanestropheus
Kratem I would love to see one about a quetz, favorite flying species
Evil Snail That's the point. The examples he gave are all thought to be the same organism as each other at different ages. He's asking for him to comment on whether these animals are different species or not, or just about what the debate even is.
The Explainlax joke is still making me laugh 2 hours later.
Very well. If and when I become a wealthy movie or TV mogul, a Drapanosaurus will be featured in my time travel epic. It will interrupt the teenagers' kiss, which will have to happen the next ep.
You need to have the thing land on a guy and slit their throat with it's claws and tail. THEN I bet people would get into this awesome thing!
I've already had a fifteen year old girl get a scar from Mei long. Too many more young'uns injured and the project will get its funding yanked!
Sailor Barsoom
But we've still got to have someone get mauled by a Carniosaurus! And really, it would be a shame if Tanny's neck wasn't put to some offensive use somehow.
dracocrusher
I could bring back the arrogant security guard, the one who thinks he can tell everybody else how to do their job. That can get a guy mauled!
Serve the jerk right.
Sailor Barsoom
Sounds like a plan, let's do this!
i'm more excited to see you make a video on conjectural dinosaur sounds than I am to see Star Wars
Can you do an episode or series on extremes? Like largest, smallest etc
That's a really good idea. TTTRRRREEEEEYYYYYY! Do this plz!
+Karan Chaphekar smallest microraptor and largest I think diplodocus but if you are taking about all animals predator x
+Benjamin Shaul i thought the largest was amphicoelias
Wrong on all fronts. Largest non avian dinosaur is Argentinosaurus, smallest is Parvicursor, largest animal is the blue whale.
+my irrelevant comment i thought argentinasaurous out of dinos and blue whale out of all
Hi trey great vid as always! 😀
I've got some suggestions for future videos
1:Paleo profile for Guanlong
2:What your thoughts are on dinos like triceratops-torosaur trex-nannotyrannus or pachy-dracorex

A Paleo Profile on Tyrannosaurus would be good for one sole reason. And that is to blow the ignorant people who still believe the "T.rex" from Jurassic Park is how it looked in real life out the water once and for all.
Haha, great video Trey, definitely enjoyed the comedy in this one.

kaprosuchus anyone
Yaaasss
+robotranic rex gaming and dinosaurs YaY Kapros!
+robotranic rex gaming and dinosaurs yes yes yes yes yes and double YES
Yes it woud be cool
+robotranic rex gaming and dinosaurs I asked him and he said yes!
nice video Trey love you :)
+TREY the Explainer, if I decide to make prehistoric documentaries, I *WILL* add _Drepanosaurus_.
This has to be one of if not the most unique prehistoric reptile I've come to see in a long time
No feathers?! Ah snips! I like feathers!
This is very interesting, thank you for teaching me about this obscure prehistoric organism, please do more videos, please continue Explainlax :)
+Max Powdrill Thank you! and no problem ;)
Could you do Balaur Bondoc? I'm not sure how much information on it there is, but I think it would be cool to hear about.
Not really a bird in the sense of Aves, but it was definitely more closely related to birds than dromaeosaurs (Avialae).
Of course, the technical usage of "bird" is a subject of contention, but that's a whole can of worms I'm not going to touch with a ten-foot pole.
+Rex H.G. Chen I'm surrounded by nerds. Much nerds. So wow.
I'm writing some fantasy, and prehistoric animals like this are perfect inspiration for realistic, while also fantastic, fauna. Keep these up, I've got worlds to populate, and getting your exciting commentary is a bit more bearable than trying to sift through research.
Would you ever consider doing a video on some of the more recent extinct creatures? Such as some of the oddities from the early-mid cenozoic?
The amount of pride I get whenever a significant fossil is found in my state.
wait, it lived in Italy, Mexico and Jersey? Does that imply the males wore jewelry?!
NEW Mexico, fucktard
@@Hellbilly615 bruh tf is this hostility?
Love you man! Keep it up with these videos. Before I discovered your channel, I never realized jut how fascinating dinosaurs can be!
Thanks man! Happy you enjoy them
please do one of these for Troodon (True-oe-don)
I had never heard of this little guy before! What an awesome critter! Definitely keeping one as a pet if reliable time travel is ever invented, lol
Do Balaur Bondoc or Therizinosaurus
I always get excited when I see you uploaded a video.
cuild you do kaprosuchus
true dat
I had never heard of dreponosaurs before this video. Thanks Trey!
+Horror Games No problem :)

Congrats on 100,000 subs! You earned it!
when i watch these vids im like "yeah hurmaderpaflurpadon?" but keep up the good work trey x3
This is by far your most meme reference filled video ever. 👍

Thanks for letting me know for this weird animal, and I may add it to my Dinosauria series, and given most depictions are green, I may give it anteater colors, like the tamandua.
you really love putting feathers and fur on EVERYTHING.

Explainlax: the alcohol that gives you diarrhea of the mouth involving obscure dinosaurs
I've been waiting dude!!!
Literally 18 seconds into the video, hope you did good on your finals, I feel your pain, I'm actually watching this waiting for my final to start
i like the use of memes and jokes.
my favorite was "the creepy uncle no-one wants to talk to,that made me laugh
Nice, it probably will make a cameo in a videogame I plan to make someday.
Love these videos! Just a suggestion, but maybe you could do a paleo profile of Andrewsarchus in the future? :D
+Chimney the cat Thank you! and sure thing! ;)
Actually this lil'repitile seems so cute
That was interesting, thanks for posting it. Any chance you'll do a video on that one with the wings on it's back legs, that was wild!

Just notifying you, not trying to be a Spell Check Nazi.
Also great video, thanks for introducing this creature, never before till now I heard of it.
Thanks!
I never heard of this.... uh thing. lol. it's pretty cool. I love learning about new creatures
The low amount of dislikes are the people who can't accept that dinosaurs had feathers.
That thanksgiving scene would be an awesome and hilarious tv show, and would debut a lot of weirdos into pop culture.
I love your videos,! Thank you for posting! I've always loved an art critic's opinion!
+steven holder Thank you :)
Amazing, i have actually never heard of this dude. Btw Trey, i remember on one old video you saying, that u will also make Steven Universe related videos. What happened to that? But still, can't wait for your next video

Wow, I didn't even know that the family of drepanosaurs existed before this video. Really cool animals.
But hey Trey, speaking of palaeo-art memes, maybe you could do a list about the most persistant and uninspired ones?
Thanks for these awesome vids. Loved the Good Dinosaur analysis, maybe look into the far cry primal game?
+Elliot H No problem and maybe ;)
The Triassic was basically the "spaghetti against the wall" era of evolution.
If they ever figure out how to clone dinosaurs, that one would make for a great pet. Definitely would be a conversation starter. lol
As for the color I think it would be green brown and red, to better blend in with the trees.
