The fall damage stuff only lowers/negates the damage you receive from non lethal falls. Let's say you normally took 10 damage falling 6 feet, and died at 7 feet. Now you'll take no damage at 6 feet, but still die at 7.
It's a good day today. Another jev elden ring video to brighten the mood. Tip for the great swords, if you attack from a little further distance than normal it gives you time to swing it and sense your sword is bigger than normal you get a reach advantage so it can be a little easier to dodge back from certain attacks.

I remember SodaPoppin' played a mage build, and he was getting so much shit for it, but had a really good take from it all, he said something like: "People talk about how Dark Souls/From Software games give you a nearly unlimited amount of variety, and you can do any build you want, but if you do anything other than what other people are doing, you get a lot of shit for it" and I think that couldn't be more true for Elden Ring. there is SO much variety and you can do whatever the fuck you want, but no matter what you do, people will always make fun of you for it.
each class is broken once you get a good build, like you said some bosses are easier for different classes so all the ppl complaining about magic or dex or strength are dense.... except summons those without a doubt just make the game easier...which isn't a bad thing if that's what ppl enjoy.
I love how all these "dark souls vets" were roasting jev when he was playing a mage but are dead silent now cause he is clapping bosses even easier as a melee build now. never disrespect the god that Jev is!
From a totally unbiased standpoint (as I don’t play)… mage seemed WAY more difficult overall… there’s probably some bosses that will be crazy hard up close, but you’ve got so much health that you can facetank shots with this class
As someone that is on his 2nd play through (1st was Mage, my current one is warrior) it definitely depends on the bosses, some are easier as mage some as melee, but overall I gotta agree with Jev. I can fuck up and get hit 7-8 times in a boss fight with melee and it doesn’t matter, I have what feels like infinite flasks and HP, where with a mage if I don’t kill that shit fast enough eventually I’m gonna get greedy and 1 shotted for it.
Hey you can play the game any way you want! Don't let tons of people bog you down by saying you can't play with X weapon or summon. I'd love to see a run with a different build but it's up to you!
If you want to go full guts with that sword, a miniboss Lion in fort Gael in Caelid drops an ash of war that mimics guts' sword jump attack. It also happens to have infinite hyperarmor and massive damage, super fun!

I agree with you jev,but one thing for sure is that the cat talisman works. If your health bar is long enough to where you dont die during a fall, the talisman 100% eliminates the damage taken. That talisman saved my controllers life during the platforming part of a certain catacomb to get the frenzy fire thing

The talisman does not negate all fall damage just fall damage that is non-fatal so if you wouldn't have usually died and only taken damage you will take no damage, if the fall damage is fatal you will obviously die. Hope this helps :)
actually the negate fall damage one is that it negates the fall damage you receive when you fall from very high places, but not when the height is fatal
Rykard was my favorite boss fight yet, especially with the mimic. Hitting him with heavies nonstop and staggering him as he is about to hit you was sick

I’m pretty sure fall damage in this game is based off distance fallen, and there is a small window between a safe no damage fall, and a death fall that will give you fall damage. The talisman and cotton only negate the fall damage you would take in that window. It doesn’t negate falling death, because you don’t die from fall damage, you die because you were falling for a certain amount of time or distance.
