Hi Sian I'm a first year student in Queens this year so I've been really enjoying your videos!! I just wanted to ask what is the best way to reference (I've got assignments coming up and I'm a little unsure about referencing) and also have you any tips for researching and doing work in McClay??
Siofra Ni Fhearraigh hey! This is a tricky one because it depends on what referencing system your course uses.. if you don’t know just ask one of your tutors and they will tell you! Then queen’s have a website called cite it right which puts your footnotes together for you! Then with research I always just look up my topics on the McClay online library or article search like project muse or jstor!
Hi Sian! Loving your videos about Queen's! I'm in my first year and am loving it so far, although I've a lot of classes and one hell of a work load haha. I've already had exams and honestly have no idea how to tackle them! In high school we were simply given the notes and we learn them off by heart. Here, there's lecture notes, textbooks, online resources and I'm really struggling to find the best way to study for exams, especially in regards to time management when I have so many other things to do :/ any advice?? Keep up the great work btw!! xx
Isabella Souza hey, I’m glad you’re enjoying Queen’s! I would focus on what you’re actually being graded on, they tend to give a lot of work that doesn’t actually go towards your final degree so if you’re feeling under pressure I wouldn’t worry as much about this work.. I’ve only ever had one exam at Queen’s because my course is primarily essay based but usually you learn two or three topics in depth then just have a very basic knowledge of the rest because they usually won’t cover everything in the exam!
Do you choose when you have your classes or does the uni decide when you sign up for the modules? Also, how come you’re only in for 2 days, are you part time? Xx
Sarah Foster it depends on your degree but with mine I was able to choose from the options they made available! And no I’m full time, English and history are just more independent study rather than class time!x
