  • My boss approached me about a month ago and asked me if I could replace the screen of his Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro 10. After some research and waiting for the display to arrive I finally was able to replace the screen yesterday. In this video you will not only be able to see how it went but you will also be able to follow along in order to replace the screen yourself. :)

Thank you! Especially for the part where you caution us to just go slowly. I am impatient, and probably would have snapped the little round part of the case near the power button. Your video helped me open the case and discharge the remaining power from the device with the battery disconnected. It wouldn't turn back on until I did that (which I learned from a video on the Yoga Tab 2). Very much appreciated!

Yeah, trust me I always say that since I know from experience that rushing things just doesn’t end well most of the time. (I am quite an impatient person as well. ;P)
Awesome to hear that my video was able to help you! :D And thanks for sharing your case and fix for it with the rest of the world too!

Thanks so much for this - I've never done this sort of repair before, and this was just what I needed. I have a slightly different model (the basic Tab 3), but the general approach was still spot on. Shows an old lady like me can still learn new skills ;)

very well done..congratulations on posting this video. This is a quite rare tablet, so there is very little information available on how to repair it. Thank you again for posting this. I will try to replace my primary battery tomorrow, now that you have shown me the process. Much appreciated.

Thank you so much! 😃😁 I had the exact same experience when I was searching for a tutorial on how to take it apart, which is why I decided to make this video to help people like you and me to actually have a guide to follow, since it makes the whole process so much easier when you can watch how it’s done before doing it yourself. ;)

@@thatrandomtechguy4385 unfortunately, the new battery did not solve my problem. I am getting a critical error message on startup saying that impossible 0 mv detected, this will have to be fixed. Then the tablet starts. But charging is somehow limited to 72% and stops, and the tablet turns off at 29% charge indicated. I have done a hard reset which resulted in no change. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Very clear and easy to follow. I shall have a go at my brother’s Lenovo very soon. I’m taking it apart before I order. Screen (just in case I break something and have to bin it).

Thank you! I am glad that my video was helpful for you! :) Yeah, that's a good idea. Better try it out first, but normally if you are careful enough, it should be straight forward and not too hard! ;) Tell me how the process went when you are done with it! ^^

I appreciate you and this video so much! I finally got around to fixing my cracked screen and it went (somewhat) flawlessly. New screen works great and is sitting perfectly flush. New screen protector should be in soon too… no more cracks for me!

Fantastic video. I am about to replace my Lenovo screen. What should I order? LCD+Touch screen? LCD+Touch screen assembly? Thanks.

    • @thatrandomtechguy4385
      @thatrandomtechguy4385  4 года назад

I ordered the LCD + the Touch Screen since I didn't want to peel off the layers. It is more expensive, but your risk of breaking something is way lower. ;) It depends on how confident you are in your repairing skills.

I'm actually just out to replace the USB connector, since I managed to mess it up REALLY badly, it's a bit embarrassing really.. This video helped a lot, and I was able to take it apart successfully with nothing but my fingernails. No, really, it worked like a charm, and I don't even have long nails. They sure are sore now, lol. No harm done, everything is as it should be. Hopefully, other than the USB port, I didn't break anything. Now, to actually order the part I need. Probably should've done that beforehand..

Usb replacement on this needs a lot of parts removed. But it's not too difficult. There is a connector underneath the board which is tricky to remove but other than that it is fine.

Thank you very much for this nicely made video. Do you know whether or not the back and front frames of this tablet (Yoga tab 3 pro YT3-X90F) is the same as, say, Yoga Tab 3 10 Plus X703L or X703F or YT-X703L or YT-X703X.
In addition to the screen, I want to change the broken back frame, but couldn't find the replacement yet. However, the front and back frames of X703L, X703F, YT-X703L, YT-X703X could be found easily, and they look (to my eyes) exactly the same as YT3-X90F.

Hi, nice work. I have a screen issue that has vertical lines. I dont know if its cable issue or screen itself. So i used your guide to open case and removed and reseated cables but no change. I am not sure if I should assume it is now 100% screen issue and not cable. As what if i order new screen and its the same? Is there a way to know what the issue is? Thanks EDIT - I saved a screenshot and sent it to my pc and the lines are not there. Also, the screen seems to save a ghost image of the last thing opened. Cable or screen? :/

Sorry for the late reply, I just saw your comment! It sounds like your screen has few issues. However, it is hard to know from a distance. However, my tip would be on the display! Maybe you have a tech-savy friend who could check it out and determine the problem for you 100%! :)

One thing to note is that there are 3 snaps in the center of the back panel which need to be released....I did it with a long plastic putty knife...they are directly behind the battery compartment.

What I found was this link to a seller on EBay: www.ebay.at/itm/163932514042 . Maybe check the serial number if it matches the one that is described in the offer and if it does then this should be the battery that you need! ^^

As far as I know the screen that I purchased from EBay was a third party display, but according to my boss the screen looks and works perfectly! 😁 Here is the link to the exact display that you can see in my video: www.ebay.at/itm/254427929163 . Beware that it comes out of China though, so sending it might take around a month. ;)
