I tried doing the exact same build, it almost feel like i'm the one asking for advice lol. The idea is that the main damage is supposed to be upheaval/maul with lots of CDR and big crits you proc it with maul.
Sadly from your advice I understand that its prolly just a bad idea to go for that? Swipe is always better? bummer

When you wanna do melee-DPS only you go for swipe and maelstrom-dps. And Maybe just Maybe go for Aftershock.
When you wanna use Maul you go for Earthquake with the 2H-Mace Earthquake weapon.
When you wanna go for Bleed-Build you need pretty much everything.

Great tips! If you do go Maul build the new -furry leap cooldown boots are amazing and an alternative source of haste.

Maul is really too weak and in desparate need of some buffs. Its just good as a utility skill as of now.
The node Pummel and Bash in Werebear tree gives Maul 75% more damage but it only applies to stunned enemies making it inconsistent and ultimately useless.
I can hit around 400-500k Dummy Maul Crits on my DW melee Werebear setup (with 12-16 maelstrom stacks for more damage and Vaion's 40% more damage every 3 seconds) which sounds decent but in practice this is really weak as I need to keep panther, berserk, maelstrom stacks up by swiping in melee for a 500k crit every 3 seconds. The massive survivability from Boar could help such builds survive but its been removed this patch.
