    The practical experiments of Douglas Harding via "The Headless Way" are excellent pointings to discover your true nature.

    The notion that everything is an illusion, will only hold when something has to be true.

    I have felt that when riding my motorcycle and when I was younger racing motocross I felt like the bike' it was pure joy without participation until the moment you identify it . But other activities also.

    So what is it that is being aware? (min 6:50) The very fact that one has to call it something (awareness - You say: there just is awareness) - one can't experience something without awareness and one can't be aware without existing. Isn't it?

    This me or ego is not part of the body. The ego has its seat in the astral body and is the factor that makes us identify with the body, creating thus the sensation 'l am the body' or 'the body is me'. Ego has its seat in the astral body. Having said that, It is quite absurd to seek for it in the physical body. It is like to seek for thoughts in the brain.

      @@ejackpete3 Exactly! But since the body is also an illusion we cannot speak only about the illusory nature of the ego (as this man does) but also that of the body.
      In Vivekachudamani Sankara speaks clearly about the illusory nature of the 5 sheaths not only about the illusory nature of the ego. But due to the very fact that the ego is that which causes causes the identification with 5 sheaths and all other idnetifications as well, the death of the ego is what is needed to achieve liberation. This is the Truth!

      @@evangelinaogren Everything happens under the supervision of the Soul. Soul is the source, the suppport,the owner and the Governor of the body. My Soul governs muy mind, my intelect, my heart, my energy and my body. And the Soul is what we really are.

    If the me is an illusion (it is) then the body is also an illusion, since they are made from the same substances, that is, the three gunas (sattva, rajas and tamas). Tje three gunas are the subtlest substances-qualites by which all forms and the universe are created. Thus, if we want to be precise and right, we cannot say that tje ego is an illusion without to say that the body is an illusion as well.

      Or... to think a rope is a snake, means only the snake is the illusion, not the rope😉

    • @atmannityananda-autognosia
      @atmannityananda-autognosia 3 года назад +1

      @@ejackpete3 The point in this case is that the rope is also an illusion. That is, both, the body and the ego are an illusion. That's why to achieve Spiritual realization the fundamental goal is detachment and desidentification from the body'. And this desidentification becomes complete with the dissolution of the ego. And the dissolution of the ego can be achieved through systematic, diligent practice which culminates in deep Nirvikalpa Samadhi.

      An illusion is something that is NOT what or as it appears. It does note mean that the appearance does not exist. A rainbow is an illusion because it is the result of the confluence of rain droplets floating in the sky, sunlight and a viewer. There are not bands of colors physically present in the sky and the moment any of the fundamental components is removed the rainbow disappears.
      A magician does not saw a person in half. It appears to do that. So body and ego appear in awareness but they are not what they seem to be.
      A mirage in the dessert is another example of an appearance that is not really what is perceived.
