I get the connection between Salome and Bal of Versailles (I prefer Salome). Under My Skin has a very different feel for me. It is comforting and introspective, whereas Salome is divaesque. I love and own both. I actually don't think either are obscene or overly sexual, so I agree the marketing is misleading.
I find Francesca Bianchi's earlier work more interesting. Lover's Tale is wonderful if not something I would wear in public. I also liked Lost in Heaven and Black Knight.
For me Liz Moores > Francesca Bianchi
@RamseytheRam I agree in terms of quality of ingredients and artistry, Liz Moores is on another level. Francesca Bianchi for me has a pop art quality that is still moving and fun.
Very very nice review.same here I’m not a big fan of the house too, I do like black night a lot it’s very balanced,rich and deep but Etruscan water is very powdery to my nose and unbalanced,my favourite scent in this category is actually nanshe by Nishane I do appreciate it a lot.remarkable video as usual

Nice review Ramsey. I personally own both under my skin and Salome. I find Salome has a stronger projection while under my skin stays closer to the skin. Both are winners and have no regrets owning both. I’m going to pick up the lovers tale soon, I think you would enjoy that one with a massive leather note.

Same, I have and love both Under my Skin and Salome for different reasons.
Great to see your reaction to this, I get what you say ,after all every scent is personal to us. Under my Skin for me has been an acquired taste, Salome was instant love, I too did think do I need under my skin if I already have Salome?
The difference to me is they both present the 'act' but at different stages. Salome,
I've been asked what I am wearing and some female colleagues have come close for a sniff, what was surprising was the reaction to Under My Skin. On two occasions the sniff got very close, so close I could feel their breath and touch, they really got close, but it was their reaction after. You could see there was a sudden realisation in their eyes, almost an embarrassed look. For me it reminds me of what Roudnitska said what he wants from a fragrance, a shock, something challenging but also beautiful. I get all that from Under My Skin. . I feel Francesca is having fun and challenging her Italian roots. Sure like any perfumes they won't be for everyone. They are overtly sexual and of course it will depend on personal experiences, if you haven't the experience connections then they won't talk to you. Just as the Zoologist line does absolutely nothing for me. FB's flair was the catalyst for me to explore Italian Perfumery, current and past but that's a whole new rabbit hole. What I would say regarding the samples, for the quality the single sample isn't enough to do it justice also this might sound weird, let the juice rest a while before testing. I've noticed over time my FB bottles have improved, more togetherness, no sharp edges and certain notes that were fleeting, do get to settle longer.
It's something I've always done with my wines and I find similar traits with certain fragrances.
So..Under my skin to me gives me that wonderful feeling you have after spending the night together with that person who has been your object of desire and finally it's happened, you can't quite believe it...your world is rocked....and you can't get them off your mind.
Actually out of all the FB's you got the safest option... Etruscan Water... that's not the Ramsey I know. 😆

I have Sex Sea Neroli. It's so potent.
I got a few travel Spraays with that purchases also.

Ramsey you have to give others from this house a try: Luxe Calme Volupte, Sticky Fingers, Sex and the Sea, Sex and the Sea Neroli, Dark Side. We need to hear your thoughts on these - these are all conversation starters and undeniably high quality, even if artistically some might be mishits. Francesca to me is an Italian Russian Adam.

Hey Rams,ya I got a sample of this one and liked it well enough but went for lovers Tale that time.my other favorite Black knight is my jam really,however that said I do have quite the lot of her work may well wear one to work tomorrow,nothing too much lol ,Ethruscan Water me thinks? I might have to try this one as I realised I have an affinity to animalics. Just recived Dana's TABU (a-mazing) ❤️ and for 10$ I could not resist 😁 it's the modern iteration so unfortunately it does not project or last as long as I would like it to, but that's ok. I'll layer Tabu with Gold Man XD a match made in heaven 😇

Got both FB sample packs a couple of years ago and they weren't for me... and I tried hard. They are overall interesting, but unwearable to me. Got and overall feeling of a common DNA that brought me down emotionally... like there's a grey, sad and desperation character to them. Etruscan Water was my favorite one but still.... no bottles.

Vulgar? Maybe, it's certainly graphic. But I think it's a great open depiction of two lovers, being free and enjoying each other's body. Viva la difference!! That and your description really make me want to try it.....although likely not to the office. Ha!

On a side not I would totally wear this to the office... actually the animalics seem so well blended into the ambery base that I dont think Under My Skin will offend many people who smell it on you 🤷♂️

I can see Ramsey’s point, but like you I’ll be 50 in six months. We were coming of age when Mapplethorpe was causing controversy. By comparison to some of his photographs that drawing is tame.
Ramsey, ever heard of Theo Fennel Scent? UK brand that out a scent that flopped and was in the bargain bins for £7.99 at one point. I only mention this because it is most compared to Salome. Perfumer was Christophe Laudamiel of Amber Absolute fame. Might be worth tracking down if you can find it cheap.

This I can confirm, I have both the edt and edp... it's still cheap here in UK but as old stocks are running dry it's creaping up at around £22 (edt) and £35 (edp) although still ridiculously cheap for the quality.
have you tried black knight? probably my favorite Francesca Bianchi fragrance and one of my favotire leathers.

I have a large decant of the Black Night. And I like it very much. However the brand as a whole never moved me to dig further than the samples. Some interesting fragrances but other smaller houses speak to me more. ✌🏻

The whole line is amazing but my favorite two are Salome & Anubis... i think you will really enjoy them too.. they joust for position for the top papillon spot

The quality is good but I'd be amazed if people would make the same connections without the marketing. Ended up not purchasing anything from the brand because I didnt see myself wearing any of them. It's also a mystery how this brand became so hyped, probably mostly because of the obsession of people linking fragrance to sex?
That is probably true.. plus youtube helped hype it... i like some of them but they are way over done and I think the hype train on them is pulling into the station... thanks for watching & commenting 🍻

I really really don't like FB perfumes (except for Lost in Heaven), all of them seemed to have the same structure and base: a hevay synthetic, petroleum-like one that lasts for weeks and weeks on the blotter. This one in particular had an incense / resin top and then dried down very similar to The Black Night (and Dark Side for that matter). Neither I get all the 'sexual' connotations from the line... guess I've had more 'cleaner' s3x in my life? 🤷😅

Hey Ramsey great video as usual. I smelt oud Ispahan years back here in London, but when I smelt it recently it smelt watered down or reformulated? Maybe my nose has changed but definitely wasn't up to what it was before. And definitely not worth the price. In my humble opinion
Yeah I got that feeling when you compare oud from a decade ago to now... but I did it more for the channel 😊
@@RamseytheRam yeah of course. I've been told purple oud is better. I smelt it a few years ago and it was okay nothing special. I have real oud which I wear so these fragrances usually come up short

I love this perfume, of course I own a few fragrances from this house. I don’t like all, I hate sex and sea more than all the others . It’s so bad. I can’t even smell it a second time.

Just starting to watch this, but want to write now the following:
I remember your liking Dusita's perfume and disliking FB's perfume in the same video, and I was like: Oh, come on! You cannot be serious. FB's scent is 500 times better than anything by Dusita. Well, I did not try everything by her, of course. Have only tried Melodie De L'Amour, Montri, and La Doucer De Siam. Could not care less for either of them. What underwhelming creations (in both the scent profiles and the projection/staying power). Would not pay 1/3 of what she's asking for her stuff. Now, it might be that my nose is not as developed as those who can appreciate her stuff, or I did not try the right scents from her. Anyway will write more as this video progresses 😃
Dusita is another brand I really only like her oud which is oudh infini & Issara ( Issara because it reminds me of hay & fall ) 🍂🍁

Everything I tried by Dusita sucked. I didn’t like even one. But I loved almost everything by Francesca Bianchi.

Never smelled Escale en Indonésie... there is a lot I havent smelled even though I feel like I have also smelled a lot if that makes sense... I know Rich Mitch really likes those fresher cologne style Les Indémodables.... but for me I would rather wear stuff like Oriental Velours 🍻
As mentioned before, I absolutely adore Sticky Fingers (have two bottles now, prob need more). Under My Skin is my second favorite from her, also a masterpiece if you ask me. I did skip your "visual description" for it the second time around - a little too graphic but prob accurate😅
