THANK YOU for teaching this in a way that kind of uses mnemonics instead of just memorizing algorithms. I have trouble learning certain things, and mnemonics were the only way I was able to remember how to solve a regular 3x3x3 cube. I learned the same way for solving a pyraminx, and a 5x5x5. Now that I've got the hang of those, I got myself a megaminx... but everyone's tutorials ALL seem to involve memorizing algorithms. I just can't do that. Your tutorial is the first one I've been able to follow at all, so thanks very much. I'm looking forward to completing my megaminx for the first time :D
I got confused during your explanation of solving the topmost layer. Suddenly algorithms! But solving the top layer's triangle pieces is similar to solving a 3x3x3's edges, thankfully. The rest, I'm still having a hard time getting the hang of.
Thank you! A while back my son got a set of four different types of Rubik's cube like puzzles. No one in the family knows how to solve any of them. I finally decided to follow a tutorial and do the 3 x 3. It was difficult. Your tutorial with so much better. I love that you explained why you were doing things. I got this thing solved, and I came away from it understanding how this stuff works a little bit better.
Just wanted to come here to say what a great teacher you are. You absolutely hit the nail on the head about the other videos not clearly explaining what the steps are. With your clear instructions, I was easily able to solve the hedron, and more importantly I was able to understand what I was doing and why. This isn't just a series of moves to memorize, instead this is guidance on how to solve the puzzle that will last hopefully for a long long time. I know this video has been around for some time, but I wanted to thank you for taking the time to make it.
I 100% agree with this comment! I struggled to find the solution for my hedron - but after seeing this video it took me a short time to put the pieces together! Big thanks !❤🎉
I’ve watched many tutorials and followed their steps until the end but non of it made sense, even the best of cubers did not help, until I found this tutorial. Thank you so much.
for some reason when i do the last step it always ends up messing my whole puzzle up, sometimes i just end up getting mad and popping the corners around so they match, but i know that can break my puzzle. Help i cant seem to solve it without popping the corners
awsum creations1 I kept messing up my megaminx at the last part until I realized what I was doing wrong. After I oriented the color for the top corner piece I was forgetting the do D (the last move of the algorithm "R' D' R D"), and I just went on to the next corner that needed orienting and forgetting to do D each time. This scrambled part of the puzzle because I wasn't doing the algorithm correctly. For example, look at 36:41. After he gets the first grey corner matching he moves the bottom layer to D again.
Honestly. Thankyou. The megaminx had been baffling me for about a week and so many other tutorials did not make sense at all. I actually managed to complete it after watching this
i watched several videos and they all just move so fast. you explained it really well and even when i didnt catch on right away you kept explaining it as you moved on to the next step instead of just skipping ahead like other videos

Thank you for doing the movements slowly enough so that I could follow what you did with my puzzle without having to pause all the time. I just needed a refresher for the last layer, because I hadn't solved this puzzle in over a year.
Love this finally learned to solve one ,but I had one issue getting the grey star and orienting the corners were difficult but overall great vid and keep making good content
Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I was able to complete it. Took me a few tries because I kept messing up, but I would not have been able to complete it without this.
Thank you so much! I really wanted to learn how to solve a megaminx, and your tutorial was great at teaching me how to do it! My only concern is the unclearness of certain parts...... but they don't really cause any huge problems or anything. Thanks for the great tutorial! Keep up the good work!
I agree with the unclearness comment. For example, several times, ad nauseum he explains right anti-clockwise is referred to as right prime. However, at about 31:14 he turns the top anti-clockwise twice but says, "2 ups," opposite of what he did. The video has plenty of room for improvement. And what's with the fidgeting with the cubes? maybe their unnecessary presence is why he erroneously keeps referring to the megaminx as a cube. Also, It would have been better to explain terminology only once at the beginning. Never mind that orientate is not a word, he interchanges the verbs "position" and "orient." They are not interchangeable. Finally, if you can solve a cube, you should be able to get to the final layer of a megaminx the first time you pick it up.
Did a great job man, I could've never watched a video and solved the 3x3 like I was able to sit down and watch this video to solve the mega minx. Best tutorial ever

Thanks for this tutorial! I found the description much more helpful because I already knew notation and the video was too slow for experienced cubers. So basically, thank you for the things you put in the description, I just solved my first megaminx!
great tutorial dude, I've been meaning to get better at megaminx and haven't solved mine in a little over a year or so and needed a refresher towards the end of the solve.
Thank you for this video! Bought a megaminx cos my 3x3 was getting boring…. I learnt the original 3x3 from my mum, whose dad taught her in a series of moves that he found solved it! I’ve never been able to get on with videos that use beginner algorithms as I don’t know them! Also, no one’s else does it that way, yours is the closest in terms of how you do it! 😄
This tutorial deserves more views. It was really simple and easy to understand. I scrambled my megaminx and was able to solve it after around an hour and a half. Thank you so much!
As a PhD grad in Physics I have been surrounded by people that tried to make solutions sound harder than they actually are, and you definitely go against that and have made a video that is not only easy to follow, but enjoyable as well. Cheers
That was the best tutorial I've found for this! No offense to others doing this kind of thing, but i'm glad it wasn't a kid with a squeaky voice going through the steps.
Firstly, thank you. Great video. Solved my Dec! Feedback, Like everyone else said, spoken very quick. Had to rewind a few times. Would be great if you displaced the moves on the screen. Anyway thanks again.
Awesome tutorial man! Really like how thoroughly you explain things, and your way of remembering the algorithms is the same as mine so that really helped too. I'd read elsewhere that solving this was similar to the 3x3x3 and I couldn't understand that, but after seeing you go through it I picked it up and realised that all the algorithms are exactly the same! It's crazy! Thank you for such a well-explained tutorial, definitely the best I have found on youtube by a long shot.
That's true, I think the fact that it's a 3x3x12 is important too though. If you take a single corner of the megaminx, the edges away from it are 3 in length, so it's kinda like a regular 3x3x3 corner. I'm not sure of the specific but there is definitely some maths to back this up.
The best MegaMinx tutorial man!! Thank you!! I've watched a lot of videos trying to learn how to solve it, and you did it pretty understandable. Thanks!!!
This video actually takes the time to explain the strategy behind the solution. Once you know the strategy, it’s just a matter of making the proper moves.
Extremely helpful. I watched other tutorials and none of them really helped with the last layer, but this one explained it thoroughly. It was nice to finally solve it, and the algorithms helped a lot, because in most other videos I watched, they barely explained the algorithms. One note that I got really scared about is that when orienting the corners in the last layer, I was scared when I realized that my megaminx was messed up but the corner was solved. Don't worry about this and if you orient each corner, it will fix itself. Thanks so much!
Thank you very much for doing a PROPER instructional video. I had the same complaint with so-called "tutorials" where the presenter would say something like, "Just find the piece you want and move it in using the standard algorithm (blurry, fast, impossible to follow series of finger tricks, flips and flops), just like that! Simple! I find those videos so annoying. They don't actually teach anything. They just show off a speed-solve with a bit of commentary.
Hi, I spent the last two hours working through your tutorial. Being a somewhat experienced cuber, but without any knowledge regarding the Megaminx, this was exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Great tutorial, thanks! With you guiding me in terms of what order to do things in, I got to the last layer no problem, then just needed the last two algorithms to help me finish it off! 😁
Very Good. Highly recommend to anyone learning to solve a Megaminx. Other tutorials I watched for Megaminx weren't that good but this one is amazing. I learned how to solve a Megaminx in just two days when watching this video. Highly recommend it and thanks to everyone who made this video.
@@ItzNobleZ I did this and now the top layer is solved but the rest is scrambled Edit: I realized what I did wrong. I wan't rotating the top layer to find the next corner I was turning the whole hedron
your last corners section is fool proof if you take the time to watch that the top needs moved along, puzzle gonna look jacked up, don't panic or even focus on it, it all comes together in the end, thanks for getting me there, first megaminx solve complete ✅
For those who can’t seem to get the final step, make sure your Cube didn’t flip a corner. I solved it 25 times with the same wrong result. Then I noticed that at the last corner I had a solved cube except the final corner. I reached up and twisted that corner to the correct position and it’s back to easy solving! I’m not crazy after all!!!
This video is the reason I can solve a megaminx and not a Rubik’s cube. I easily forget algorithms and this breaks it down into something that makes sense.
I am loosing it hear I have it almost done, but I cannot get the last corners to line up right. 3 are in the correct position and the other 2 are wrong. I run through the U R 2U' L' 2U R' 2U' L U Algorithm and it moves one of the ones in the right position and the 2 in the wrong. Is there something I can do to get out of this? It is like I found the one Parity Error no one has ever seen.

Firstly, thank you. Great video. Solved my Dec! Feedback, Like everyone else said, spoken very quick. Had to rewind a few times. Would be great if you displaced the moves on the screen. Anyway thanks again.
Thank you so much!🙏 By far the best tutorial on RUclips of megaminxs!👍😃
Awesome tutorial man! Really like how thoroughly you explain things, and your way of remembering the algorithms is the same as mine so that really helped too.
I'd read elsewhere that solving this was similar to the 3x3x3 and I couldn't understand that, but after seeing you go through it I picked it up and realised that all the algorithms are exactly the same! It's crazy!
Thank you for such a well-explained tutorial, definitely the best I have found on youtube by a long shot.
A cube has 6 sides, and a dodecahedron has 12 which is 6x2, so that's the main similarity to me
That's true, I think the fact that it's a 3x3x12 is important too though. If you take a single corner of the megaminx, the edges away from it are 3 in length, so it's kinda like a regular 3x3x3 corner. I'm not sure of the specific but there is definitely some maths to back this up.
ur dumb
muzik bike your sooooooooo dumb
The best MegaMinx tutorial man!! Thank you!! I've watched a lot of videos trying to learn how to solve it, and you did it pretty understandable. Thanks!!!
Thank you, most helpful tutorial yet! I was actually able to dove it lol
I come back to this video once or twice a year to remind myself when my cubes have been locked away for a while . Great video. Thankyou
this is the only video that helped me
This video actually takes the time to explain the strategy behind the solution. Once you know the strategy, it’s just a matter of making the proper moves.
Thanks a lot sir. This is the easiest tutorial I can find online. The others were so bad! Hats off!
For me the 2nd to last corner solves the thing (exept the last corner ofc) but when I do the last corner it always messes up 1 area
Thank you so much! Best tutorial!
Best megaminx guide in RUclips. Thanks.
Thank you sir you really helped me! Great video and keep up the great work.
Every time it's been awhile and I need to refresh my memory I come back to this video. Thanks for making it easy to follow!
Thank you! It was pretty fun
Dude, this is awesome! TYSM
Hi, I spent the last two hours working through your tutorial. Being a somewhat experienced cuber, but without any knowledge regarding the Megaminx, this was exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Malayalam
Amazing tutorial.
Great tutorial, thanks! With you guiding me in terms of what order to do things in, I got to the last layer no problem, then just needed the last two algorithms to help me finish it off! 😁
thank you thank you!!!! it was sooo easy with this tutorial!!!
Very Good. Highly recommend to anyone learning to solve a Megaminx. Other tutorials I watched for Megaminx weren't that good but this one is amazing. I learned how to solve a Megaminx in just two days when watching this video. Highly recommend it and thanks to everyone who made this video.
Awesome tutorial keep up the good work! 👍
BEST MEGAMINX TUTORIAL!!!!
VERY WELL DONE
the last algorithm keeps screwing up my freaking megaminx!!
Fluffyness I had the same problem. keep doing it then move on to the next piece. at the end it will all fit together.
Itz NobleZ I figured it out, and I was too lazy too post that I figured it out. But thanks anyway!
Fluffyness It's all good. Glad you figured it out
Thanks a lot ....... The only tutorial which helped me .... Keep up the good work 😀😀👍👍👍
@@ItzNobleZ I did this and now the top layer is solved but the rest is scrambled
Edit: I realized what I did wrong.
…my megaminx just fell apart and scattered all over my floor… i just died a little inside
check out my tut even doe its 5 years late
oh god i feel so bad
For those who can’t seem to get the final step, make sure your Cube didn’t flip a corner. I solved it 25 times with the same wrong result. Then I noticed that at the last corner I had a solved cube except the final corner. I reached up and twisted that corner to the correct position and it’s back to easy solving! I’m not crazy after all!!!
This guy made it look like peanuts
This video is the reason I can solve a megaminx and not a Rubik’s cube. I easily forget algorithms and this breaks it down into something that makes sense.
I am loosing it hear I have it almost done, but I cannot get the last corners to line up right. 3 are in the correct position and the other 2 are wrong. I run through the U R 2U' L' 2U R' 2U' L U Algorithm and it moves one of the ones in the right position and the 2 in the wrong. Is there something I can do to get out of this? It is like I found the one Parity Error no one has ever seen.
