i followed the chicago drill scene heavily from 2012 to 2014. it was so fascinating because it was the first time we saw real street shit in real time on a national scale.i remember when lil jojo put that 3hunnak video out shit was wild and then he end up dying shortly after. i feel like that situation really kicked off the wave on a wide scale.
It’s very interesting because obviously the majority of the population don’t live this life and have never lived this life so it’s crazy how people are actually living like this and sometimes it feels unreal like it’s a movie but it’s actually real.
I just realized I am wearing the exact headphones that Von was wearing in the first few seconds of the video. I mean the exact ones. Same color, size, everything.
I d say that the biggest reason for it all is that drill rap revived rap. Rap been on the decline for so long, and even lots of these so called legendary old school rappers dont hold a candle to the vibe some of these drill rappers bring to the scene. The intensity of the energy on its own is superior (even thoughts its a negative energy regardless if we go by that), maybe over the rawness of truly living in that sickness. I see much more passion in many of these songs like typical songs about "me being better than you" that hip hop heads would glorify to no end.
I feel like Trap Geek and Trap Lore Ross during quarantine 2020 started this whole subgenre of rap gang documentaries, now everyone does these rap gang stories with the UK drill beats in the background, covering demons from every city, a lot of these channels do them in MUCH more federal detail too😭. I know Akademiks did the War in Chiraq, but it wasn't really a whole trend to do all this back then. Shoutout to the Canadian, Trap Geek tho😂🇨🇦
Bro… 3 minutes in… and lies… or embellishment. I’m not even a drill trapper… but I’m straight from the soil of ground zero… I promise u. Drill and Atlanta trap ain’t got no connections… unless it’s a plug that ninjas 🥷 would drive down and tap in real quick, then j right back to the crib.. but this the internet… get ya ish of my dude, salute.
The whole NYC is obsessed with Chicago drill. Forget the Internet.
There’s no denying if there was one city that changed the whole landscape in the rap scene the last decade from 2010-2020 Chicago without question!!
So Atlanta doesn’t exist ?
