There’s a certain respect that older rock bands receive from fans that older hip hop artist don’t get. Just a difference in culture. The pioneers are no longer respected and are labelled as washed therefore their music never lives on with the newer younger crowd. It’s pretty disheartening.

Listening to this video after Gunna drop One of Wun, I can say with 100% certainty Gunna is the best of this group. He continues to drop gems w/o major rappers behind him. Gift & a curse did numbers with no features, and One of Wun only got 2 major rappers on it one being Roddy Rich (and it’s a vibe for sure). I always thought lil baby rapped & and had the same flow for every song dating back to 2020. Glad to see Gunna win. He deserves it 💯

I think what helped Gunna after the whole jail/snitching thing is that he didn’t hide from it he actually talked ab it and what was going on in his life he got more vulnerable in his music which made fans have more of a connection with him

To me, it was more interesting seeing how some of these artists fell off. To be honest, I think the reason Gunna’s lasted so long in the limelight is because he makes music that appeals to a wider crowd of people

I’ve followed meek ever since he was broke with nappy dreads and his name was “meek millz”. The problem is meek has always been told that he “screams” too much in his songs, so I think he’s been compensating by rapping with a softer voice, which doesn’t work for him at all. No hate here, I just wouldn’t necessarily say he escaped it, but I would say his career definitely got more life injected into it to last longer. He does still have fans, but not a cult like yb or carti, and well he’s still having mild commercial success, most riding for him are only in comment sections because they don’t like the industry. His last stuff he dropped barely even charted and it had an offset feature with a high budget video, while being promoted on rap caviar with his face on the cover. I do think that he’ll be able to exit the rap game quietly with the respect of everyone and no clowning, without an ousting and embarrassing fall off like all these other guys, and it’s happening slower.

It was only after a continue string of hits in the beginning of 2020 from Lil Baby Woah, Sum 2 prove, bc and finally his album dropping that fans started saying he made a massive come back. And gunna piggybacked off lil baby’s success w Wunna and dollars on my head. After lil Baby reached a new peak w bigger picture and that song w 42 dugg ppl started this narrative that he never fell off. Just goes to show history can constantly be rewritten no matter how recent.
The main reason is the fans of the genre. How can be 2 years too much time between albums? You want projects being composed, recorded, promoted and released in months and then wonder why the quality decreases....smh
