Finally I can adapt VSCode to perfectly fit my brain's surface properties.
lol
I'd rather keep my VSCode wrinkly.
Lmaooo my favorite comment so far
Accurately abstract way to describe the thingy.
the youtube algorithm has done a bloody good job this time
That’s true for me.
Couldn't agree more
+1
yh other than recommending 10 years old videos
You can also enable smooth scrolling in editor and workbench for *extra* *smoothness* . Tho, the effect is not for everyone.
Why not for everyone?
thanks that looks great! better than having no animation and losing what you where looking at after scrolling.
@@kasim393 smooth scrolling (especially on pagedown) is why I quit spacevim. Some people just prefer responsiveness over animations. Pagedown must be instant, why would I want to waste time?
you are right smooth scrolling is not for everyone. I did try and didn't like it but thanks for the information. One of the reasons i didn't like because it makes scrolling slow.
@@hasimsait if people use vscode without vim they are *probably* wasting time anyways
Smooth as butter.
Like a criminal undercover
@@mstech-gamingandmore1827 Gonna pop like trouble
@@mstech-gamingandmore1827 XD
I was going to write the same
Lol I first read "buffer" and was like, wtf!
Before seeing this video, my VSCode would write code.
After seeing this video, my VSCode writes *j a z z* .
Not the tutorial we deserved, but the tutorial we needed
Now I can have a satisfying experience while coding a Discord bot
Coding Discord bots are so much fun! That was one of my first bigger programming projects
same! And thanks for the tip!
@@Niconiconii Same here!
The fact others can use ur bot is also a great satisfaction!
If it's in the server that is
More VS Code tidbits please. This is great.
Feel free to throw requests or recommendations at me as well!
That's so cool! I've always wanted something like this, but never had the time or thought to look anywhere in settings menus to see if it exists. Thanks!
Didn't know you could do this! Thanks!!
I can't believe how much of a game changer this tiny detail is for the feel of the entire app
Tip- You can also install smooth type extension to make typing in vs as smooth as butter..
… Like a criminal undercover
Butter 😭
Dang, it really does make VSCode feel 𝘴𝘮𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘩
Thanks!
for some reason I find your video aesthetic and I like it lol
Thank you!!
lol reminds me of those old tutorial videos where they wrote in notepad, we have come full circle
Nostalgic vibes indeed. My goal here is just high quality content in a short and sweet video. I might do some more full blown videos with voiceover once I have some free time.
this + neovim extension = pure greatness, it's like using neovide but i don't feel like killing myself
Very epic thanks RUclips for the recommendation
damn this is awesome :)
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
THANK YOU SO MUCH, I finally no longer have static blinks in my eyes 🙏🙏🙏
I was trying to figure out why the SmoothType extension wasn't working, but this is even better
i'm loving the 8 vertical pixels of this video
very cool
Lmao, sorry about the weird dimensions
The video everyone needed but no one asked for
I like the smooth blinking, but hate the smooth scrolling.
The settings aren't for everyone, its why VS Code makes them changeable and toggleable. Customize them as it fits you best :)
The cursor was extremely calming
Normies : good job bro!
Software engineer : good job yt algorithm ;
Bruh I was thinking about this thing yesterday and now this video popped in my home page😂
The ultra wide aspect ratio makes me feel good
Perfect for keynote presentations where millions are watching you on stage ;)
:)
I actually love you
My man
I am a lazy fuck who never bothered to go through the settings to learn all this
you did that for me, thanks :D
thank you so much, can you also do a vid on how to move the cursor faster
That's an interesting aspect ratio
Haha, I know, sorry about the weird ratio, just wanted to crop other things out and make it show only what’s needed
Nice video but can I knoe what's the theme you're using called like?
Tokyo Night
When I watched this after it showed in my recommended
"a blessing from the lord"
finally i can feel like a real programmer
if on tiktok people comment "fyp" then i'm commenting "yta" for "yt algorithm". thanks for the video
Yesssh, thank you!
Smooth caret is shit tbh. Especially when you move to different line and different position. You expect this to happen fast so you can start writing right away, but not with the fucking animation. At the same time I love smooth cursor blinking animation, it looks great on high frequency monitor
It’s not the same cup of tea for everyone. There’s a reason why VS code lets you toggle on and off the settings to see as you fit. Personally I like how they look so I have them turned on. Neovim’s smooth cursor is way more extreme lol
thank you😍, One of the best suggestions of RUclips
Next: How to open VSCode
Don't forget 240hz monitor for that Butter Cursor
The best tutorial of my life is not even 1 minute long.
i didn't even know i want this until youtube algortihm recommend this vid to me
Glad you found it useful!
I thought it's going to be another short vid meme from my feed lmao
This kind of of video is what YT should made of
Just me who doesn't actually like this much more? Smooth VS code is for smooth brains.
Is personal taste thing
Thank you so much I really like it more this way. Additionally I changed my cursor to an underscore, which looks sooo much better as well
I prefer 'expand' over phase, but to each their own. And the MonoLisa font with script ligatures. Oh my goodness. And TabNine Pro.
I have used free tabnine a little bit. Not a fan. Seems to give me spammy suggestions that don’t make any sense lol.
Try GitHub copilot. It's insanely accurate
@@epickelok lmao. look at my channel. It's literally 90% Github Copilot
@@Niconiconii whoops
Tabnine is cool, but worse when compared to copilot
They should also make the letters fade in
I think that might be overdoing it lol. I think a lot of people r already complaining about these animations making vscode look laggy to them. However, vscode is electron based, meaning u could very much customize the animation to fade in new text
It do be smooth now, luv it
Literally Life Changing!
(Don't forget smooth scrolling option ;)
Cool! Thankyou RUclips algorithm
looks good but somehow, to me, something feels wrong looking at that. I'll have to try it still
Little things makes a big difference
Can you share your video recording settings and software?
Haha, this was recorded using the built in screen recorder that comes with macOS. Although if you want a good screen recorder I recommend OBS for non-gaming purposes. It’s studio quality and has all the features you’d need. If you use a windows computer, action is a great piece of recording software. Used it for a few years before I got a MacBook.
No reason to use anything other than OBS imo
@@DaCurse0 OBS is resource intensive. Works fine for people with beefy computers, but for less powerful computers where performance is more restricted, lighter screen recording software is preferred.
It made it faster and smooth, appreciate it .
I think this type of content is more suitable to be a short
In essence, this is a short lol. My goal is to make everything short, sweet, and right to the point.
@@Niconiconii I mean a RUclips Short (With the #short I think) so youtube will suggest it to more people.
@@FlafyDev ah I see. Thanks for the tip. I will make that addition!
this was a god sent ty!!
straight to the point , thanks
Thank you! Make more videos like this :)
(VS Code)
Thanks! If you have cool ideas or recs feel free to lmk :)
Omggg this is what i've been looking for thank you so much
Apple be like:
"Want to make vs code smooth, buy a latest MacBook"
lmao, I'm using a 2019 intel macbook anyways. Can't wait to try out the new M1 macbooks sometime soon tho. Really hyped about em!
thank you for this /g
Smooth.
thank you so much
I wasn't expecting that omg ! Thank you ! =)
how can i make my windows operating system type like this like not just in vscode but everywhere i type?
Uhhh, u can’t do that
Oh my goodness, that's beautiful 😍
Thanks nico sensei
Now my IDE finally matches my brain: smooth
In a month I am supposed to demo how to debug PowerShell in VS Code to 1000+ people at my company (many of which are senior to me).
Any resources you think I should see? Any settings or tips more important than this that I should include?
I wouldnt say this is an "important" setting per say, just kinda cool aesthetic wise.
Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with the debugger in VSCode. One cool tool you may be able to utilize is a VSCode macro extension. Tutorial/Demo here: ruclips.net/video/rO8-cgtkZSw/видео.html It allows you to simulate typing out a bunch of code and looks pretty impressive for coding demos if done correctly.
A few general tips I have for presentation tho
If it is in person and in a bright room/setting, using light mode can improve readability.
Use a higher contrast theme especially when you are presenting to make sure everyone is able to read it clearly.
Make sure text is zoomed in enough for clarity (ctrl +/- for zooming).
Using word wrap can help with readibility especially if you end up making the code window smaller to display the debugger window
Hope this helps, and good luck with your presentation!
@@Niconiconii Thank you!
What VSCode theme is this?
Tokyo Night!
when you realise that you had to read that text inside vs code🤣
Thank you so much! I needed this!!
Thanks to utube for recommending this...
Thank you for the trick!
Mine never went that smooth even with those settings
Coding quality increased
thank you so much! how immaculate! also, commenting for the algorithm.~
Exactly what i needed ✅
Thanks a lot!
I’m the type of guy who turns all animations off. Anything that could introduce any lag drives me nuts.
but how did you get that buttery smooth scroll?
LOVE YOUU
Love you too!
@@Niconiconii that was extremely helpful i can't believe that i never knew about that setting before 😂, glad i came across your vid
Nice one I need more like those tips 🙂
And this is why I spent my savings on a 240hz monitor.
RUclips suggested me a useful video. Just Wow
Thanks! :)
I will be that guy: Useless gimmicks!
Damn! Glad I found this
this is nice
I cant thank you enough in my whole life.
Awwww, thanks! Means a lot to me!
Bansai! The youtube algorithm did something good today as it always (almost if not) shows me nonsense things.
thank you Nico
glad you can do this vscode but I use neovide which has this by default
Vim is on a whole ‘nother level lol. Tried using vim for a while but just couldn’t learn the keyboard commands fast enough to be productive enough.
Subbed
Tell me you're faking your programming skill without telling me you're faking your programming skill
This video is wider than my phone screen, yet it is in 4k? Does that mean 4k vertical is extended out THREE TIMES??
lmfao. The video resolution is in 4k, but the dimensions was weird because of how I had cropped it. I'll try to be more careful of it for future videos. Sorry for the weird dimensions
Thank u sooo much sir❤️😊.u solve my problem.
ill try this tomorrow!
