Word of caution to anyone hoping to install it instantly out of the box: My 14 pro max had dust under the paper thing right out of the box. Thankfully I noticed first and didn’t end up with dust under my protector, but yeah just check first even if it’s a brand new phone

No dust, I do the same thing, get screen protector ready, peel cover off the screen then screen protector straight on. Got my new iPhone 14 pro max coming at the weekend, can’t wait 😁

Put one on my wife’s phone, it was just as easy (except hers was already in use a few days so I cleaned it). You don’t even know it’s there. Have one waiting for my phone that’s on order.
