- It’s been a year of an unbearable tax regime, with salaried Kenyans particularly hard hit. From increased PAYE tax bands to the housing levy, Kenyans have had to find alternative ways to make ends meet. Victoria Rubadiri takes a look at the painful hit to payslips in 2023.
The difference is, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea that is being touted have zero tolerance to corruption unlike here in Kenya. That is our Achilles heel.
Don't ever, ever be deceived that there are places with no corruption. It is always a lie. Remember the 1DB scandal in Malaysia?
Remember the shady arms deals in south Korea and Singapore?
The real reason for ALL economic growth is low taxation and little or no government viz, the private sector.
The reason Kenya's corruption is off the charts is because the government is too big. To reduce corruption, reduce taxes and send half the government home.
It is inconceivable that a country like Kenya has a government the size of the US government.
This country won't develop with high rates tribalism and corruption.
Bt you like free things.given a chance ..
He should focus on enabling the private sector to start and run new factories and business firms.
The worst thing that can happen to anyone in Kenya currently-is to have a payslip.
Ruto and his "Whatever it takes" mantra.
Imagine
Taxes is a must for better services, one who asks for performance from government without his contribution is insane developed countries built their nation based on taxation, that’s why we need to encourage creation of jobs to enable a bigger pool
@@Gel131what better service is there since he increased it? Even the passport I applied for renewal has taken more than 8 months now. And you still support the shit. With the kind of leadership you have who do you think will create jobs in Kenya?
@@johnosumba1980 your job is to hold them accountable and protest and you also should give them time to implement
@@Gel131 Most people agree that taxes are a necessity. But, there is a limit beyond which it becomes counter productive. The government does not have a carte Blanche to your earnings.
Ruto will see it hard in 2024....Gods wrath shall hit him.hard
Amen and amen. May he never know peace.
But god isn't the one who votes... You do. So in reality this is all your (the Kenyan voters) fault.
He wants to help the country not himself please kua na hekima na uheshimu miaka yako
@@Gel131what help? You need to be serious with yourself, shake your head.
Isn’t building decent housing good and we live land to plant food and cash crops
Ruto is the worst reality that Kenyans will live to regret. Korea and Singapore have zero tolerance to corruption unlike Kenya that rewards and praise it. Yu cannot tax poverty into wealth, force it however yu want but it will never materialise.
At this rate we should stop comparing ourselves with those countries since we have refused to deal with corruption and tribalism which is the root cause of our problems.
They were told that better trust the devil you know than the angel you don’t know but buffalo 🐃 soldiers refused to listen.
In fact,we were told that it was a prayer and not witchcraft very good Ruto let their foolishness and tribalism teach them something increase more tax in everything including talking in public.👍
Those countries never stole from salaried employees
Sirikali ya wakora😅😅😅😅
When i hear politicians comparing Kenya to Singapore and Malaysia, i despair.
Those are developed economies whose citizens don't spend every waking hour hustling to put food on the table.
It just goes to show how out-of-touch with reality this president is
When we got independence in 1963 we were economical ahead of those nations. Today, the difference between Kenya and those nation is the difference between Kings and paupers. They exist in a different world to us.
Hujui unasema nini
Zakayo is oppressing Kenyans
You voted for him en masse
@@itsTheTruthTeller Nonsense
Kwani kenya resources zilikwisha, they taught us lake victoria is a god given fresh wayer lake why cant they pump that water to ukambani waone vile tutabadilisha maisha ya wakenya😢
First kenya ia not a rich country thr mode of government we have is all wrong. Why senators, governors, MPs CA' women reps MCA's etc etc. Isn't all this duplication? Imagine how much kenya could save if there were only 32 CS's & governor there would be enough to pay the debt give services & balance to loot.
We are not Singapore citizen,we are Kenyan citizen,so no housing levy in our country,,if compulsory go to Singapore and registered as a citizenship of that country,no longer here in Kenya, wajinga nyinyi,,
When did Ruto sudied economics. I don’t hear him giving credits for Susie’s on Singapore and Malaysia.
Mr president, this is Kenya in Africa not Asia. Tax yes but in moderation
Gross of 82k.. Housing Levy is 1230. ..
Not to mention media houses that are now paying taxes unlike in other regimes must be very painful 😖😖😖
Affordable housing in Malaysia isn't working for them,, it's a whole city with empty houses, the ghost city
Earning 800,000 just to send back 300,000 to the government 😂😂😂
na ata sioni penye pesa zinaenda. the big guy ameona we really need Pipeline like houses😂 na bado utalipia land rates😂. poooh
Juu ya hewa....meeen!
Tax religious institutions as well. Kazi ya ni kula na kunona kwa sadaka ya Wakenya.
We are not Koreans. Pumbafu
Atleast they have jobs, what about the ones that don't 🤷🤷🤷🤷...tough times need tough measures.Kenyans are short sighted but i know he will deliver.
What will he deliver? Man be serious with yourself. What has Ruto ever delivered throughout his political life?
So its okay for the nation to be built on the backs of those who are formally employed? stop burying your head in the sand. watu wako employed wakikatwa hata hako kabiashara kako katadidimia. people wont have disposable income. think bana
Overtaxation results in reduced incomes which lowers demand for goods and services forcing Businesses to scale down or close.
If it is really genuine..then everyone should pay
@@johnosumba1980 what other option do we have, tell me I'm listening 🤷🤷
This is ab unjust government
I wonder how we are comparable to Malaysia and Singapore
Let everyone pay.
Who pays?govt.who takes back?govt.
Mr tax collector empty promises
Dynasty waende hASSora tawala 😂😂🎉🎉
Ati "Tax regime" 😂 😂 😂
😂😂😂 Singapore did it...okay...then do the same developments like singapore chieth
Kesho tungoje mengine
I want to pay the taxes. Just give me the 800,000 mnasikia uchungu kulipia
You compare kenya and Malaysia
Imagine, ati Singapore. This Nations have zero tolerance with corruption sio Kenya where state house ndo imeongeza na corruption. Punda ata upige viboko aje hatakimbia kama farasi
Zakayo zakayo
That teacher is dishonest. He took a loan and he is paying 34,000. That tax is reasonable
Kwendwo Korea ukaishi huko
It wasnt a must you comment my dear
You see you cant even type well you mannerless oxymoron bafoon
Dishonest reporting. What is other deductions?
As Citizen TV what is the alternative way that you need the government to do instead of taxing Kenyans?
It's not the job of citizen tv to form government plans or policies
Citizen TV reports occurrences within/without Kenyan borders. They're not specialized in government policy formulation, they are journalists and reporters fro christ's sake.
Ruto should know what to do that is why he was elected, Kibaki took over a zero country but he never increased tax he was smart and the economy grew so who is suffering the Country
Who's this for God's sake
What are you doing here in citizen? Pereka umbwakni Yako uko mbali!
