Weird how all you have to do to get likes is state a quote and mark the writer along with the year to get likes. But I see other people make up the most original and well thought jokes and they aren’t noticed for it. Sooner or later their joke is ultimately stolen and they’re persecuted to being a joke stealer as well. Disagree or agree with me, just acknowledge what I’m saying.

@OnionBro it is 100% illegal to stop or attempt to stop people from discussing wages under federal law. If you get fired for it you will win in court by default if you have a single shred of evidence to prove it. I was a nurse and was interviewing for a part time job at a doctor's office with the doctor. The hours I was applying for was 5pm - 10pm for 3 nights a week. And, the doctor's main concern was not my qualifications, he was worried about who was going to cook dinner for my husband. I was wearing my wedding rings, I always do. I was floored the second time he said it and just said, "Thank you for your time, but I'm finished with the interview" and I stood up to leave. He looked at me confused and asked me what? Why?. I said "you've just spent 20 minutes worried about who's going to cook dinner for my husband, you asked nothing about my qualifications, so I consider this interview over, oh, and please discard my resume" and I left!!
I couldn't believe his nerve. I never answered him because its none of his business, but my husband worked nights!! His loss and I'm sure I saved myself a lot of aggravation!!

I feel the idea of "companies are a family" once meant something.
My dad ran his business and always made sure to buy his workers lunch and their kids too if they came to play with me.
If the person's family needed financial help, he gave the help.
If they had events for families or vacation, he respected it and even gave support.
If the employee had a family member that needed work, he just gave them a job, no interview required.
If their car broke down, he lent them a car and when one of them was homeless, he let them crash with us....
THAT was what I thought being a "family" meant......
Learn that's not how other businesses are....
And many older people I knew that worked for smaller businesses commented how the people of the company actually looked out for each other and the boss actually cared.
Hell, even the original McDonalds used to be like that.
Many companies want that loyalty but don't want to give that kind of care and effort...

Some bosses have an inner circle they consider family but you have to be there for a decade to get that kind of special treatment and by that time they will be really nosy with you and looking for ways to lay you off if they don't feel like you fit in.
In order to avoid this its always good to have a back up plan for your next job and after the 2-3 year mark slowly look for a replacement and wait till they feel like there getting the last laugh and then bail a week or two before they try to get you fired.
This works really well for introverts because even though there very hard workers when it comes to projects they really don't like to keep them around because you can't really get close to them and it makes it harder to read them.
Also if your in a relationship or if your married or have kids never tell them who your with because they will play on that too.
Always have a sitter and make sure your husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend isn't the type to check on you every couple hours

Yes this is so true. The best advice and manager ever gave me as a leader was to keep your employees at an arm's length.
Not too far and not too close. You can't help anyone when they're too far and you can't help anyone when they're too close...
I think that's the most healthy relationship to have between managers and their employees and it leads to the best work life balance for everybody in the workplace.

True story. I’ve worked at my retail job for seven years. I’ve seen a lot of store managers come and go, but I finally fell in line with a great one and we survived the holidays despite being severely short staff because he cared. It was mostly just three of us running that whole store.
Well, he got tired of corporate’s crap and the abuse so of course he got a new job and we encouraged him, but the new lady that never seemed to leave her high school mind set behind, she told us all that we were like family to her.
Suffice to say, she’s a two facing witch and 99% of the original workers that were still there after the holidays left not even after two weeks had passed.
We explained how much we respected our former boss and how he really was like a family to us. Her exact words were “I view you guys like family too! I appreciate you so much! Thanks for being so welcoming!”

I grabbed my stuff & was out the door without a word. My bosses followed me asking what was wrong, I could barely explain and they said go. No questions asked, just a text later that day to see if I needed anything & take as long as I needed. When I finally went back to work, they told me I would be receiving bereavement pay - per company policy, I was not eligible for it, but received it anyway. The love & support while I was out was amazing, and my co-workers pitched in and figured out how to do my job and kept up with my workload for me. That’s just what we do. It doesn’t matter what the situation is they’re always understanding, even if a pet passes away.
