- My first reaction to the Ukrainian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin. The video includes the reaction to the LIVE performance from the national final.

Every famous name mentioned in the rapping part brings its own deep message. "One for all and all for one" by Dumas is a very timely call for national unity in face of the threat of ruSSia's full-scale war, as well as the need for Picasso's peace dove. The reference to Dante, who wrote "Divine comedy" about the afterlife soul's journey but nowadays could be writing "Divine tragedy", refers to the current imminent danger of sending humankind to the afterlife. Shakespeare is the master of drama bringing up existential questions including the most famous one "To be or not to be". And Alina's call is "To Be!" and to write our OWN history, remembering ancestors, history, and culture, and to leave our own legacy after ourselves, beautiful like fairytales by Grimm brothers. Very clever lines which should speak to all of Europe, but, unfortunately, can be missed by less educated people. And the sounds at the beginning and the end are bird calls, uniting with Nature. And I love the beautiful message in the visuals of her eyes: it zooms in and in the depth of each eye another eye keeps appearing like eyes of generations of ancestors. We are onions with layers created by ancestors, direct of spiritual, coming from different cultures.

In the Carpathians (the mountainous area in the far western part of Ukraine where Alina was born), a unique cry is traditionally used to call each other in the mountains. In this case, each person chooses a sound that identifies him. That scream at the beginning Alina came up with for herself.

I'm agree with u about this song for 100%. I'm Ukrainian and I'm SO proud that we have chosen this song. The performance was unbelievable and making me so emotional. And one of the important thing is the message of the ''Тіні звбутих предків'' especially at the moment.
I LOVE IT ❤❤ So glad she won! ❤ LOVE the traditional instruments, native language and other ethnic elements, the dark epic performance, the deep lyrics, the emotions that she gave us... everything ❤

I agree with you. This song is a piece of art. It has a deep message. She is singing from her soul, dispair, pride of her heritage. This is national, but also very universal. It moves people from all countries and cultures. Knowing the serious context of this masterpiece, make me cry. It is so beautiful. I hope this wins it all. Greetings to Ukraine from Norway.

Jamala, Go_A, Alina Pash and Kalush Orchestra's 2nd qualified song all integrate the traditional sounds and instruments into modern music so effortlessly, and Eurovision is the perfect platform for this.

I agree with you, so much passion in her performance, I love the song and everything that happens on stage, music, her voice, her eyes, so talking to me a very deeply meaningful message. I translated the text, I don't know if I understand correctly, but yes, as you say "we are building a better future", oh yes! this is such a beautiful message for the whole world. Last year I was impressed by Go-a Shum, but this year even more. The atmosphere of tradition and modern approach, perfect combination to me, and i really hope that eurovision public will listen this one with heart.
